Hi guys, a little new and I've been trying to read as much as I can but it's frustrating trying to find bits and pieces of information. I'm on T-Mobile, or the T999,
So I understand that Wifi-calling comes with all Touchwiz based roms? Easy enough, the resource bible thread points me to some good roms. I'm using Infamous right now, however what's really annoying me is not being able to receive MMS group messages from iPhone users.
I'm sure that's a common problem, but I can't really find a unified answer that'll point me towards a definitive solution. There's several different MMS apps floating around here, and I'm hesitant to download and flash all of them willy nilly because I don't know which ones work with Touchwiz, or not, etc.
Can someone give me a simple answer as to how to get these two functions working? Thanks!
I've tried GoSMS and Handcent for the group messaging.... neither work for me.
Handsent group texting works, you just have to enable the setting for it to work or else you will get single messages. The only bug I found on it is, if you reply through the pop up box, it will send the same text to everyone individually.
So you have to go to the app itself and reply by clicking the group thread. Like a regular text.

I use the same phone on t mobile and ran with Wicked rom and I use handsent. I rely on the wifi calling and I haven't had a single problem. In fact, I think my phone works better on this rom. Darth stalker was another rom I considered.
Edit: look into stockorama as well.
Handcent's been force closing on me every time I try to add a second person into a new message. :/
EDIT: Works perfect on Wicked!! Thank you!

Hey, I know what you're looking for. I've got the same issue with my S2 t989. The only TW ROMs that have stock working group mms messaging are from Verizon phones...and I think the att Note2. I have been experimenting with getting it to work. You have to modify SecTelephonyProvider.apk and framework2.jar. and install SecMms.apk from say the Verizon S3. I'm at work and don't have all the info in front of me at the moment to help you through it but I have it working and it's great! The only down-side is how it threads photos you recieve and you can't send any mms messages while on wifi calling. I'm still trying to work those bugs out. Do a search for SecMms.apk and you should be able to find a lot of info on this topic.

I can send them fine and i can receive them, but my phone won't play the sound or show the video/picture without me manually saving the file and opening it with a media player. You beat me to it.
I was just going to say something similar, but I would of added all kinds of nice words, because we're supposed to be nice to noobs, no matter how much stupid clutter they add to the forums.
And by no means would I drop an f-bomb.
If someone's already answered this, please point me to that specific thread with a valid solution relating to my issue as I could not find it for the past week.
My recently replaced Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 won't send text messages longer then 160 characters when rooted. I am familiar with rooting Samsung devices, but I will admit this is my first time rooting my GS3. Regular messages and picture messages send just fine but anything longer than 160 = Fail. I've tried CM10 and AOKP and always end up with the same issue. I've looked on CyanogenMod's website and found something relating to SMSC so I gave it a try (can't post link due to post restricitons). I've tried all 3 methods listed, including entering it in a HEX PDU format still with no success. All I keep getting is update error. If I refresh the SMSC I get "+7",145 (including the quotations).
Upon searching Google and XDA Forums some more with regards to SMSC, I mostly came across solutions that led to switching out the SIM card temporarily to another phone and trying again. I can't do this for obvious reasons. Other solutions involved trying to enter it in PDU format. I tried this numerous times ranging from "07917140140000F0" to "07917140140000F011" and other sorts specifically for Sprint and still have had no success.
Other methods I've tried to remedy this problem was using 3rd party text messaging apps such as Handcent. This proved unfruitful as well.
Thank you to anyone who can help me in advance. If you need more info, just ask and I will try to respond promptly.

I hate to sound picky but I honestly hate 3rd party messaging apps. I was hoping to keep it native since I find its simplicity and features to be a lot more appealing and useful. I also hate advertisements and offers almost as much as the next person so I do my best to avoid the slightest hint for a handout as best as I possibly can.
Thank you for the suggestion though, it does work, I just want to keep it simple instead of looking for a workaround.
No prob go SMS is my favorite so I recommend it to anyone

Ouch, still no solution? Guess I may have no choice but to go with GoSMS until there's a stable release of 4.1.2 :crying:
Thank you all for the help anyway.

DUDE! If I could hug you through the screen, I would, so instead I just slapped my screen a high 5 that you should get whenever you read this. THANK YOU!
Your instructions were fairly clear to follow all the way up to the point of creating a flashable zip (I might've overworked my brain reading all night) so instead, I originally just replaced the modified Mms.apk into the ROM and it seemed to work fine after installing it, but after some issues I list later in this post, I decided to figure it out and give it a try. Though I understand what I did, it doesn't explain why I get the errors to begin with. You have honestly helped me more then enough so no need to dwell on that if you don't know.
I do have two minor issues and one major:
When I was sending some test text messages to myself, I realized a 2-part text would send the 1st text almost instantly and the 2nd part minutes later.
When sending a 3-part text, it sends the 2nd part 1st, the 3rd part about a minute later and finally the 1st part about 2 minutes later
I can't send MMS messages anymore but could only receive it.
In regards to MMS, I downloaded the Example.zip you had on your page. I extracted it and created the "app" and "framework" sub folders within the system folder then added the apks to their respected destinations. With the exception of adding some outputs for the ui_print, I generally left the updater-script file alone. Finally, I selected all 3 root folders within the Example folder (data, META-INF and system) right-clicked, selected WINRAR then add to archive. I changed the name to texts and selected ZIP as my archive format. Finally, I added the zip to my sd card along with CM10.0.0 and its compatible gapps. Once in recovery, I did a factory reset and flashed CM10, gapps and texts.zip in that order. Upon testing my messages, I encounter the issues listed previously listed above.
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
I need CM 10.1 mms inverted with Easy Selector like one in CarbonRom 1.7.....thanks!

No one won't help me?... Why?....... bicouse I am only fat boy?... here is apk file... Need be only inverted
Stupid life
Well... Some one is self conscious..
No one replied because of the way you demand.
I've seen your post once it was up, but didn't reply because of the following reasons:
1) you gave absolutely no information about your current rom (Sammy, aosp, cm), android version (4.0.4, 4.1.2, 4.2)
This alone is a great reason not to answer, because we need to know what version of the mms.apk you need.
2) but in my opinion the biggest reason is the way that you ask, you made it appear as of we (the fine people of xda) are here to help you on-demand.
Most of us here are simple users enjoying the work of great developers, moders and themers. They put in a lot of their free time to allow us to have the best possible experience with our phones, and yet some people make them feel as if they are here to do some sort of volunteer work for the mentally disabled (no offense intended to anyone).
My point being that it's appreciated when people, at the very least, search for what they want. It has, in most cases, already been created.
I don't mean to say that you haven't done any type of searching, what I'm implying is that the way you formatted your post looks as if you you haven't even bother to look for it without asking first.
If you didn't search, next time try to formulate the post as follows:
"I'm looking for a modded mms.apk from cm 10.1 with the inverted theme. I'm running 4.x.x and I'm on the xxxxxxx Rom (replace X with actual info) I've tried to search on Google and (somehow) I've not found it. Any help is greatly appreciated."
The difference between your post and mine is that when people read it they see a person that is somehow bad at searching the Web, but has tried, they see what rom I'm on and what android version that rom is running.
With that information, they can (if they so wish to do so) much more easily get the post that they might have recalled seeing it on and send you a link.
Those are my points, perhaps some one else can give you some more details as to what they personally think is wrong with it.
The people of xda (for the most part) are very helpful to each other, but no one wants to spoon feed some one else because that some one else is lazy to even bother searching.
I hope that this post has helped you in your future of xda (if you so wish to stay). This information works on pretty much any forum.
I want trying to be evil in any way, just simply trying to guide you in a better direction.
(sorry for any typos, but typing this much on a phone can be hard)

Two things I thought I'd share -
1) The guy who posted the link you gave also has a rom in the TMo Android Dev section - might be worth taking a peek at it as I'm sure the SecMms in it includes everything in that post.
2) Unless I screwed it up somehow (something that is very possible), in my experience (using TMo service) forcing emoji to be treated as sms prevents them from being sent at all (messages including them still send, the places w/ emojis are just blank though). If folks have figured a way around this, or followed that guide and did not encounter that issue, I would be very interested in learning more as I may have mucked it up somehow and would be interested in learning how to resolve the issue.

I was finally able to find something that would root my Epic 4g (not touch) . Its called vroot. Im looking for a couple of apps and have been searching for awhile, maybe there arent any but..... 1 is for screenshots. I was never able to do that. The 2nd is a texting app that will tell me when my text was read, but something the other person doesnt to download. I know its sounds weird to want to know if your text was read......but when you have a teenager who always uses the line.... I didnt see your text.....
anyway.....does anyone know of any apps that would help me?
also.....im new to this rooting. Is there anything else I need to do? I used a one click method.
Thank you for any help.
P.S. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Again I'm new at this and I find it very confusing...lol

In Cyanogenmod v10.1 in the stock Messaging app there is a setting "Request a read report for each message you send". I've never used it and have no idea how it works but I thought I would mention it.

Oops.. I just noticed that this "request read report for each message you send" applies only to MMS messages. Not SMS.
So if you're still looking for this feature then you'll want to find an SMS/MMS app that will do this for MMS messages because it probably can't be done for SMS.
In order to ensure the text is sent as MMS you would have to send an attachment. MMS also require a solid data connection.
