Trading Question for S3

Hey guys I really would like to get an s3 and I found someone willing to trade for my HTC one X and 150$. In addition I would have to unlock it as its on Bell and I use Rogers. You guys think its worth it? Thanks.

Aren't they going for more or less the same $ right now... Don't know why you'd pay him a additional $150, I'd say half that at $75.

Thanks Gunny, I loved seeing you on the One X forums ^^. as for the prices where i'm art the s3 is always over 450 and the one X is starting at 300 so i don't think its too bad.

I sold my one x on the xda marketplace for 350. Easy as pie.

i paid 60 bucks plus my One X for a GS3 within an hour of posting my trade on craigslist.....and i felt like I got REALLY lucky.
Now i'm wishing I would have kept my One X.....much better phone besides the poor development

You paid to much. I did the swap with only $75.00 on my part and the S3 was new.

Idk where I am in Ontario Toronto, most people who are trading the one X pay up between 100-150 as the phone sells for like 350 here and the S3 sells for like 450 if your lucky.

You got a pretty good deal, the one x is an awesome phone but people are jumping ship because the dev is more or less taking a nose dive with how locked down the phone is. Last I checked for my my one x there still wasn't root for the newest update, or newest last I checked and that's been out for a month or two.

Would you recommend this phone today for $100?

Title. I'm giving away my current phone to my brother next week. I'm upgrade ready. I suppose I can wait next month for one x+ or the next nexus. $100 for a top end phone isn't bad. Opinions?

100$ for One X? . Come on.. i've bought mine one week ago for ~470$ ;x. It's a steal... on mine contract this phone is priced much higher than simfree .

I like the phone but is it getting jelly bean? If so, when. That's what I'd be asking

Since you're in the U.S. I'm guessing you're talking about the One XL on AT&T. First, it was recently free at Walmart wireless and they sold out. Other sellers price matched so it's pretty much out of stock everywhere now. The AT&T One XL was a pretty dismal phone. It had only 16GB of storage (11GB available to the user) and 1GB of RAM which was really 640MB since Adreno reserved 360MB for itself making multitasking awful. The One X+ will probably be $199 and you can get a SGS3 for $149. Personally, I'd skip the current AT&T One X even at "free." A bargain is only a bargain if you're getting something great for very little. In this case you'd be getting something very little for very little.

You can get it for a penny on amazon. Im guessing youre on AT&T since you said youre upgrade ready.

I currently have an Inspire "4G". Where Im sitting, the VX looks pretty good. Not only is it an increase in screen size and processor specs, but also provides a front camera i've been missing since i lost my iphone. To top it all off, its only $50. I know the One X+ looks great and all, the VX just might be more of what i need. I don't watch movies on my phone(i use my ipad), and I HATE touch screen gaming, so yeah, i think this may be my next upgrade.

I'm in the same boat as you, I think 5.7" is too big , but unlke you, I do watch movies and play games in the phone , but I'm missing the front facing camera , even thought the specs on this one are low. A least I'll have one now , I don't have to flip the phone when I'm using tango

At this moment the One VX is 99¢ at ATT online. Naturally I came here first to see what the community has been doing with the device. The early lack of support is keeping my wallet closed for now.

I got one. I like it so far. Now if only I could find a way to root it, I'd be set. So far no go . . . yet. 2 devs working on it tho so hopefully soon. It's just a matter of time.

Ended up getting a Nexus 4 from Google Play. Off contract and gonna pay $30/mo on T-Mo instead of $95 on AT&T.

I was really very tempted to get HOX when it got announced last year which I of course bought. Somehow I don't feel that about ONE. I guess that's because I am completely happy with my HOX, and prefer the way it looks comparing to the one. Not planning to upgrade anytime soon and the reason is not that I can't afford

There is a developer model available, ships SIM free with bootloader unlocked, I'm not 100% sure that it will be s-off but it does say fully unlocked, no mention about warranty but it seems there trying hard to give the community they want.

I would have seriously considered it, but i feel it is going to be let down badly by the camera.

No more HTC unless they remove their crappy implementation of s-off and locking bootloaders.
The only way I'll ever go back to HTC is if they make another nexus device. Barring that....I'll stay with Samsung (I have an s3 as well, as you can see by my tapatalk sig

tempted about the One, im not a big fan of sense 5 but the phone definately looks slick... and we 'should' get s-off since it's qualcomm and not tegra.

I think that the s4 has more to offer. But my pick would be the nexus 5

apart from the battery and the camera i dont think the s4 has got that much more.. good looking device but i think the alluminium unibody of the One is nicer. and probably most of the people here prefers sense over touchwiz. indeed two top specs phones!

definitely tempted with One. Also signed up for the supposely $100 rebate from HTC. Who knows...I might buy the One to get the rebate and sell it hopefully at a higher price. :fingers-crossed:...unless I decide to keep it

Considering selling my One fairly soon and was wondering what the going rate is. Since as far as I know there isn't a current exploit I thought maybe being rooted/s-off might be worth something...

I think there's one on Swappa right around $325 when I checked a few days ago. Not sure if it sold or not. I'd bet you can get around $300 before they take out their fees. You'll probably be able to get more on Craigslist depending on where you're located.

I got mine about 2 months ago I think I paid 320 mine wasn't rooted either. I bet your right though I'm sure other people would pay top dollar for a rooted one!

Don't see them going for a premium price as someone has already said they have a root exploit for 4.4 2 but he won't release it till Aug. So not like the phone is locked down forever. But there are idiots that will always pay more for something

I picked mine up for $350 off Craigslist in LA. They're all going for around $350 here rooted or not. Highest I saw was 360, lowest 300.

Not much since the price of them dropped from $599 to $499. From what I see, an HTC One in good shape, maybe with a few extra accessories, can get you $400 or a little more or a little less, depending on if you have the original box/any scratches/phone and accessories in their packaging. Surprisingly I've seen HTC One Maxxs sell for $450 for ones that are in near perfect shape. With the taxes and fees that ebay and paypal add to the sellers, if you sold an HTC One for $400, you would really only see about $350 of that. I think it's a better deal if you can sell one locally, to either a friend or family member, possibly through friends on Facebook. Something that I am considering doing to my HTC One, so that I can upgrade to the HTC Maxx.
I have an HTC One that was S offed by Sonic with a java card. I have not seen any posted. I imagine that if I labeled it as " Being able to work on almost any carrier." I could probably fetch up to $450 or more for mine. With the right knowledge and understanding on this phone with it being S off / Unlocked / Rooted it really could work on any carrier. straight talk, AT&T, page plus, Viaero, Tmobile, and sprint, since I believe that it is also a worldwide phone that has all of the GSM and CDMA bands inside of it.

I didnt notice modded phones going for more. Thats part of the android experience learning the ins and outs of a new device.

this combo works just fine now

I sold mine last Wednesday for 225. I had it posted only 25 mins too.
