I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SPH-L900). I'd like to do the update to MC2 (Currently AMA7). I was rooted but unrooted to get the update. Usually the notification icon would come up as well as a popup letting me know to install it. So far since I unrooted it has come up only once. That's ok though because I just went to Menu > Settings > System Update > Update Samsung Software and there it is all downloaded and ready to install. So I click on "Restart & Install" and it gives me a countdown letting me know that my phone is about to reboot and here is where my issue begins. When the countdown reaches 0 and says Rebooting phone it just sits there with nothing happening. I have let it sit for up to 5 minutes. I had tried to do this process when I was rooted just to see if it would work and the phone rebooted right away, tried to install and then of course error out. So now I am stuck.
1. How long should it take to reboot?
2. Is there a way to manually update to MC2 without using OTA?
3. I am actually happy at AMA7 assuming that MC2 isn't all that special, is there a way to stop the stupid popup and notification icon from showing up?

Anyone know how to get rid of the system updates available message. I'm rooted and running FrankenRom, but I'm still getting constant notification about the Nov system update. I created a back up and told it to install, and of course it failed, so I can't just install it. Very annoying as I get a pop up about 5 times a day asking if I want to install now or later, and thats in addition to the stupid notification bar icon.
There's about 20 threads discussing how to modify the build.prop floating around here. I would search for it. I did it and it worked perfectly.
thanks,
I figured it would be as easy as modifing some file or another but I didn't know enough to know how to ask the right question.

It might sound crazy.....but accept the update.
If you are running a modified recovery it will attempt to install the update up to the point where it reboots, then fail because of the altered recovery.
It won't ask you to update again after that.
Want to block OTA updates on my 8.4 Wifi. Anyone know what apk/file(s) to rename/freeze to keep it from trying to update? I'm rooted, but still on the stock ROM.
I believe it will not update ota now that its rooted, simple test is to check for update, go through that, it should end up telling you something like, file have been change or modified or something and it wont let you update

It's trying to update & I just keep selecting the 3 hour postponement. I'm rooted and it's still trying. On my phone (GS4) I renamed the update apk, but I don't know the filename of the one on the tab.

On mine I went into 'settings/general/about device/software update' and unticked automatically check for updates. Then booted into recovery (stock recovery still on mine) and cleared the cache (which I believe deletes the OTA update file) then rebooted.
Since doing that I have not had any software update notifications and the OTA file hasn't reappeared.
My tab is on the original stock ROM and rooted with Towelroot.
Hi everyone,
I do not know if it happened after a specific update, but my FTV 1st gen has started acting weirdly a few days/weeks ago.
It used to be that the FTV would go into hibernate after 10min and when you press any button it would wake up and be ready right away. Within 5sec you could use it.
Now for some reason, when the FTV is in hibernation (both automatic and manual hibernation) the FTV will do a fresh boot when you click a button. So the FireTV logo is shown, the "loading homescreen" message is shown and I have to wait for it to fully boot.
It's as if the FTV actually shut down rather than going into hibernate.
Does anybody know what is causing this and how to fix it? Costumer support of course knew nothing of this problem
anybody?
weird that i am the only one... but my second FTV also works properly. Maybe I will have to try a factory reset
Is this box rooted? If so, have you blocked OTA updates? If no rooted, have you blocked OTA updates in your rooter?
Box may have downloaded an update previous blocking OTA updates and it is trying to update every time you try to re-start it however it fails. That is the only thing I may think about.
The box is not rooted. I also did not block updates. I checked and it is on 5.0.5, last updated in January. Can I somehow check if an update was downloaded and is trying to be installed? Manually chrcking for updates says that I am on the current firmware.
I just reverted back to KitKat. In order to prevent any accidental updating, I skipped the entire setup process and immediately unchecked "Auto Update" under "About device" in the system settings. I rebooted the device for the hell of it. After connecting to wifi, the device is still downloading the Lollipop update. How do I stop it and get rid of the downloaded update?
Root it, it'll never update then.
I have an unlocked Fold 3, purchased directly from Samsung. When I try to do the OTA update to Android 12, after the reboot into the updater (the robot screen), it fails every time at 25% and then reboots back into 11. I have verified Google play services are up to dare.
Anyone have an idea other than doing a factory reset and then trying?

Are you taking an OTA update that was pushed to your phone? Or are you trying to manually update it?
If it's the OTA, use Odin to do a fresh install. You will likely end up losing stuff but that makes it a clean install. Backup everything, screen shots for things you can't just backup, and you should be back in the saddle.
There's not much else you can do via OTA. Even Sammy will suggest a reset, but they aren't much help anyway.
Try using Samsung smart switch through a pc. Connect your phone to pc and there you can select update and it shall update your phone. Hopefully this will pass without issue.
