[Q] Smaller Navbav In TouchWiz - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'd like to use the navbar in stock TouchWiz, but I wish it were a bitttttttt smaller (or at least not cover the camera so much....).
Is there a mod someone could make to help with this?
I'm CleanROM ACE 4.8.
Thanks in advance to any and all help given!

These sorts of mods are great for getting your feet wet on doing little things on your own - you can change the size of it by decompiling /system/framework/framework-res.apk - then go into /res/values/dimens.xml and look for the following entries:
Code:
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height">
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height_landscape">
<dimen name="navigation_bar_width">
I think stock values are 40ish or so dpi, but I thought changing the height values to 28 and width to 24 worked out nice - you'll likely want to play with it a bit. Hope that helps

Heh heh heh, thanks for the fast reply!
Believe it or not, a while after posting that question, I decided to give it a go myself.
I can report that things turned out pretty flipping good!
What I want to try next, is modding the dialer and camera for 240 dpi. I know there's a mod for it in the N7100 forum, but I doubt it'll work with our phones.

[Q] DPI DHD

Ey!!
Maybe a silly question, but does somebody know how to change dpi on DHD?
I mean, my screen can handle 5 ''icons horizontally'' ,
how can I change the dpi to get for example 10 ''icons horizontally''.
Thanks in advance.
There's a thread here abouts for changing the DPI (although might only be if you have Cyanogen ROM) but the search I'm sure you'll do will bring it up.
Home Replacement apps like LauncherPro or ADWLauncher allow you to set number of icons but can be a bit hit or miss.
Thanks for your reply,
i got launcher pro, i made it 5icons horizontally en 4icons vertically.
if you make it more, the icons gets ugly, they dont fit normal, and some problems...
what it does, it makes the icons smaller but doesnt change the screens dpi i think.
i got stock rom.
The ugly icon issue is why I didn't bother changing it.
With a stock ROM, unless it's rooted I doubt you'll be able to change the DPI. I do recall someone mention an App but I memory serving it was for the Galaxy and tests failed on the DHD.

Both methods require root access (A rooted ROM).
true story, which makes mines NOT ROOTED xD
so i have to root it first..? no other solutions?
No you can't change your dpi without root.

[Q] 3.0 lockscreen/Icons

I need help if anyone (who knows about developing) is willing to help me. I have a Sense 3.0 lockscreen and Rosie and in the lockscreen I need help to get the dock of the lockscreen higher cause mine compared to the actual sensation lockscreen is lower as well as the icons on the lockscreen. Pics are shown comparing mine to actual sensation. What I need help fixing in the Rosie is the Icons are to low and almost touch the dock and would like them higher like the actual sensation. I also have pics comparing the 2. I have the files here as a zip if your willing to help cause I would do it myself but im no dev and I tried but failed many times. I would really appreciate it if u can help.
IIRC that"s the best the devs could do with porting their higher resolution to our lower resolution.

And he did but I hope you work it out.
Personally I am fine with where the icons are on Rosie but would like to move the ring up a little so the icons would have to move up also.
Well nyterage moved the dock up but it turns out that what we see on our current lockscreen dock is the whole image when putting the dock higher there is nothing below the dock which is very weird the lockscreen ring is movable though its a WIP
What files do u have to edit for the lockscreen cause i got an idea. edit I used lcd dencity changer and it made the dock as high as wanted but now the rest of the Rom is lower resolution. If we can just get the lcd density changer to work just on lockscreen.

Why are all my notifications grey?

Its really ugly. But aside from being ugly its confusing, my text, whatsapp, voicemail, missed call, update and whatever else all have grey icons in the notification bar and don't stand out like they did on every past phone. Ive never had this with any past android (also never had an android with 4.0 or higher).
Is this just the way the nexus looks?
It looks like this on both ICS and JB
It's just the design aesthetic that Google is going for on Android 4.0 and 4.1, and its pretty easy to see how it fits in with the whole design of the OS. I think it looks sleek and streamlined.
The icons aren't all the same though... they actually look different lol. Just because they're gray doesn't mean they are the same. I'm not confused when I see a GMail and a Google Voice message in my status bar.
Some people are just never happy...

I second that. Don't see how anyone could possibly find notifications confusing... I think it's sleek looking as well... Oh well.

I'm sorry but what???
Goggle is actually TRYING to make it simple. So they made it simple and cleaner. Gary & white.
And I like it.

It's a matter of taste. I actually prefer it, instead of a row of colorful notifiation icons.
Okay so its a google thing. Good to know it was done on purpose.
I never said they were all the same icon or that I couldnt tell the difference, just that they blend in together at a glance.
But hey to each their own, if people love this then they thought the old way was ugly I guess.
More importantly, does anyone know of a rom or something that lets you change it?
thanks

I do this edit for myself all the time, like OP I find it hard (that's what she said) to see what specific icon it is in daylight.
Decompile systemUI.apk
Navigate to SystemUI.apk\res\values
Open dimens.xml
change from:
Code:

65.0%

change to:
Code:

100.0%

compile and enjoy bright icons.
good day.

I know this post is kind of old, but what if I wanted to brighten/change the color of the vibrate icon or the alarm icon? I implemented the change you mentioned but it only brightened the icons on the left side of the status bar. Thanks

Hmm, yeah those images are already white in the systemUI/res/drawable-xhdpi folder, but in the status bar of the phone they look grey. I didn't know if there was some kind of "resolution" thing going on, similar to the other icons you mentioned before. Anyways, thanks for your help.

That's because those images have transparency to them that makes them appear grey. In the screen cap on the left is the stock icon compared to a solid white icon.

Height Of Status Bar

This question could probably be answered by someone who makes CM12/12.1 themes....
I'm making custom wallpapers with drop-shadows and I want to slice the top of the wallpaper, create an overlay and add a drop-shadow so it has a 3D-ish look when it sits under the WiFi icon, clock and notifications at the top of the screen...I just can't seem to get the right height though.
Would someone know the exact height?

Extract SystemUI then look in res/values/dimens. The status bar height is there but it's in decimal value so it's not gonna be help much and it will not really give you much indication as to the exact res that your wallpaper needs to be. The wallpapers scale to fit so you will have to experiment untill you get it how you want it. That's all i can offer on this... I don't quite understand exactly what you're doing but i do have a lot of photoshop experience and that's what i use.

Enabling AOSP StatusBar SignalCluster in stock Sense rom

I tend to be more of a lurker than anything else around here, but I've wasted enough time on my own so here's my question.
Basically I want AOSP style (filled in) signal and wifi icons on my stock HTC 10. It seems that there is only one substratum/layers theme for this, and the icons are in png format rather than xml and don't look quite right, so that's a no go.
Upon decompiling stock SystemUI (currently using US Unlocked 2.28.617.8 firmware) it looks like HTC left the AOSP resources in /res/drawable, named stat_sys_wifi_(whatever) and stat_sys_signal_(whatever) but they never get loaded. Instead it looks like /systemui/statusbar/phone/PhoneStatusBar loads up /systemui/statusbar/policy/HTCGenericNetworkController which references the lame png icons located in /res/drawable-xxxhdpi-v4. Can anyone familiar with editing smali give me some pointers? I've tried several edits but they fail horribly each time. Also if there's an easier way I'm all ears. Attached is a zip of my decompiled SystemUI for convenience. Thanks!

Thanks for replying! I made those edits and it did switch the signal to 4 instead of 5 bars, but is there any way to have the whole triangle filled in? Same for wifi, just like on an aosp/cm/lineage based rom. I'll keep digging around in that default.xml though

mhhh, on Android M it showed the AOSP icons...what was the stock setting for sprint.
I changed it to 5 there intstead, so our statusbar theming engine works.
Not sure if you are into custom roms, but we have a feature to apply custom icons/icon sets to the statusbar.

It's probably not the method you're looking for, but I'm also a fan of the solid look, so I just drew the icons in that style and swapped them in /res/drawable-xxxhdpi-v4. You're welcome to them if you want (attached).

I see. Well I tried the magisk version of Viper and it was pretty neat but even using an icon pack the spacing was a little off. Oh well...

Thanks! I might just use these for the time being until I figure out another way. The thing that drives me nuts is how even with edited icons Sense just gets the scaling and spacing of the icons totally wrong I would just flash Lineage but I don't want to break SafetyNet
