[Q] move apps to sd card - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys i need help, does anyone know how to move my apps from device storage to sd card, because i running of device storage now
thanks

Been looking for the same solution. All I came up with was that the note2 jellybean roms have had that ability removed from the roms with the notion that since the device system memory has the is not separated from the internal memory, then you'd not ran out off space for apps, supposedly anyway.

Directory bind works fine with all 4.1.2 roms and folder mount works on any rom. They won't move the app but will let you move the data.

Next time please try to be more specific, like are you rooted?
If yes you can use many app/mods
Like app2sd aka appmgr now
Link2sd
And many others

Filemount is like directorybind but better and works on 4.1.2 and 4.2.2

[MOD]App2ExtSD2 [Works for all U.S. Galaxy S3!]

This is a hack that that allows you to swap internal storage with your external SD card so you can increase your app data storage.
All credits go to original i9300 App2ExtSD Hack by mattiadj. I simply hacked it to work with U.S. versions and also I've added code so it will disable this feature when you don't have a microSD card inserted (app storage will default to internal when no microSD card is inserted).
E.g. If you have 16GB internal storage on Galaxy S3, you can install this witih a 64GB microSD card and swap the storage and get 64GB on your app storage instead of 16GB.
Before you can use this, you will need:
1) Rooted Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535/SPH-L710/SGH-T999/SCH-I747) or also Canadian versions too (i747m, etc...etc...)
2) A ROM/kernel with init.d support!
3) I've only tested this with TouchWiz-based ROMs, so it should work on stock ROMs and any TouchWiz-based ROMs, not sure on CM9 or CM10.
4) You must use the FAT32 or EXTFAT zip file below, depending on what format your microSD Card is in! (e.g. if you have a FAT32 microSD card, use FAT32)
To get this working, simply flash the zip files in your CWM Recovery:
Download and Details:
http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-t...-external-microsd-for-u-s-canadian-galaxy-s3/
If you are on stock ROM or any TouchWiz-based ROMs, you can flash my new HighOnAndroid kernel to get init.d support on your phone here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30718496
If you do not have init.d support, you can also enable on any rooted phone by using Script Manager, here's a quick tutorial:
I recommend you to FORMAT your microSD card once to get camera working flawless before using this hack!
How to disable this:
If for some reason you are having trouble, simply delete /system/etc/init.d/11extsd2internalsd.
OR
if you leave your microSD card out during boot (then re-insert it after), your phone will work as normal (internal storage used for app data).
Sounds awesome thanks

Is it best to wipe first, or will this move all the app data from the internal to the external for you?

It is best to do a wipe to start on a clean slate, or you can also copy the contents of your internal to external.
OR, I like using Titanium Backup to backup app and its data then restore after putting in the microSD card.
it works great, thanks for the mod, will report if I find any problem w/ it.
Great work max! I was using stock rooted rom.. Now I need to look for one I like that has int d support.
Thanks for this though appreciate it!

Would it be possible for you to create a Stock kernel with just the init.d supporthe?
My SD card is reporting "vFat" as the type......is that FAT32 or EXTFAT or neither? lol
yes let me see if i can upload it tomorrow

I meant format. Sorry about that. Autocorrect got me again.
This is great! I'm curious if this mod sticks if I flash an updated/new rom? Do I need to flash this zip after I flash the rom? Also, what happens if I wipe my phone when I have this mod? Do I need to re flash as well?

Delete all the contents in /sdcard/
That's all you need to do

Try SD Maid from market to clean out useless stuffs. Android really needs to control application files on the sdcard. This is like windows

Will this deletion method delete even ROMs and backups stored on it.

Try deleting backups. Keep 1 or 2 and delete the rest.

Use some common sense when deleting, like the clockworkmod folder is backups, TitaniumBackup folder is titanium backup files, and etc. ROMs are not installed on the sdcard orbviously.
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
Biggest memory hog is backups. Like cwm or titanium

Apps2sd on jelly sandwich?

I've successfully rooted my arc s and got it running jelly sandwich 8.0, but it doesn't seem to come with apps2sd or links2sd
I'm running out of phone storage so having either of those 2 is crucial for me.
Can I add them to this ROM? If yes, is there anything particular I should keep an eye out for when partitioning?
And if not, could someone recommend an Arc S rom that allows me to add apps or links2sd?
Sent from my lt18 using xda app-developers app
You can use either of these apps without needing to partition sd card just install open then move the apps to SD.
If you move any apps which have widgets then you will lose the widgets. You can also move some gapps to system with link2sd Thus saving internal space.

how to get app2sd working?

My S4 is rooted (stock) rom but I seem unable to get app2sd working how can I set this up?
Can't until update comes out but you can use another carriers rom and it will work. Or to move large files to ex card use folder mount app it will save you alot of space . Saved over 7 gbs for me so far.

tmobile hasnt updated our phone with the apps2sd update, either flash a i9505 rom or wait
and remember, the search bar can usually answer your question

[Q] Does move to SD work for you with android 4.3?

One of the features the 4.3 update was supposed to bring was the ability to move apps to the external card. I upgraded to Omega ROM v19 which is based on the official Samsung 4.3 and I do have the option in "Applications manager", and when I click on it shows that it moved it, but free space on either internal or external storage remains unchanged. Did anybody have more success with this with either the stock rom or some custom one?
It works... somewhat. I found that it only moves a very small portion of the app, so far a big 1.5gb game, it may only move 50mb. I just use foldermount (paid version) and have at least 10gb moved to my sd card and I leave small apps on my device.

yeah it works
I'm using DN3 V3.1 and mode2sd is working fine..
