For those who've been looking for a pair of great of IEMs with android compatable inline controls, the S4a's are out. Happened to come across them at Futureshop today so it was a pleasant surprise, although I'm still iffy about the 120CAD I put towards them. Once they have about 100+ hours of burn in I'll decide if I'll keep 'em for a few reasons.
The box includes the usual multiple sized tips and the earbuds themselves, but they also come with a clip to use to attach the mic/control onto clothing and a nice sized carrying case.
According to Kilpsch themselves, they have incredible functionality with their customized app, which I'll be looking into it over the next few weeks.

Sure.
Just from toying around with them thus far I've come across a couple things that irritate me personally to do with the controls, but I might be able to find workarounds for these little hassles.
Hey guys also there is a klipsch app for these headphones so you can customize the button function

I got them from Futureshop up here in Canada for 120CAD.
Quick first impression:
I expected that you could only customize the three functions (single, double, and triple click) and speed of clicking. That's certainly the case. Their volume control is non-customizable and very finicky, and the speed to control the button timing isn't all too great either. Otherwise it does what it says it does, just not every function at once of course.
I won't go into their sound as there are hundreds of reviews of the S4's sound online, and the only difference with these to the usual S4 is the addition of a button.
the app works for me too no problems
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Old thread by now, but I'm thinking of picking these up for my S2.
I'm sure the sound and stuff is great from the sound of other online reviews, but what I'm worried about is the durability of the cord.
How has your cords been?
And if you could, give a little description of how you've been using them.
Thanks

The volume buttons won't work but the mute button should work just fine, on most pairs. There are apps like "headset button control" which will allow you to configure the mic to do other things like fast forward and rewind tracks.
Klipsch also makes a pair of Android headphones as well.

I have Beats Tours.
They didn't work (audio out) on my GNex...OR my Droid X.
But...at some point after 4.0.4 they started to.
I don't know if it was a kernel or rom update...as I wasn't constantly checking to see if it worked...it just did randomly.
As stated; volume controls still do nothing.
But the mic works...as does the mute button.

Why is it that someone can't EVER mention Beats without getting **** on?
I have Klipshe S4's as well.
They're (according to many) better than any of the Beats line.
I've had quite a few mid-high range buds, actually...
And the Beats are still *probably* my favorites.
They sound good.
Would I pay $160 for them?
Eh...probably not.
Would I gladly accept the Christmas gift?
Yes. And I'm happy with them.

Because they're 10% engineering and 90% marketing? It's as bad as Bose crap. It's made by monster, the king of overpriced home entertainment.
It's all marketing. Commercials are racist as **** too.
When it comes to smartphones, its more like 1% engineering, 99% marketing.
Oh wait, we are talking about headphones.
My bad.
Still 10% engineering, and 90% marketing
You gotta give Beats some credit though, stepping up from a crowded marketplace to come up with a very unique and compelling product line. In selling it's all about how you market your product and that's why the best product does not always sell well.
I have the Beats Beatbox and Monster Miles Davis Tributes and they are just awesomeeeee. Fantastic value for the price especially the Tributes.
just because they market it well doesn't mean it's good.
i dunno, i just think beats is to cell phones what vtec is to hondas.
I have a pair of Bose IE2s and beats don't compare. if tried just about every pair I could find in beats and don't understand the attraction to them . I also hear senhiser (sp fail) makes good in ear headphones.
Don't get beats.

I have a vtec in my Civic, which isn't a bad car for a 16 year old kid, but still Beats don't need to be priced as highly as they are (we can all agree on that), but they're still decent hardware compared to brands like SkullCandy.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It's funny how no one thinks they are worth the money yet defends them as still being . For that money really good stuff is available, so buying them is like buying Bose - a waste of money. There's a reason why Bose does not publish specs. They are just above average at a premium price.

Whoever bought them wasted their money.
And yes many products you are paying for marketing. Think about that. The insurance companies that advertise the most are the highest price no matter how much money they think they can convince you that you're saving.
Btw, i am selling something. it is good, well because i claim it to be and want you to believe that. $100 for xda members. Free for smart xda members. get it? And if you act within the next 30 posts i will double what you get and knock off $50. But for smart xda members it is still free. Hurry before all the smart xda members get smart and don't act now.

Vtec was revolutionary for small displacement engines. It has since become main stream in all different kinds of engines.
Beats may not do much for cell phones, but that doesn't mean the entire product lines is worthless.

Beats are a waste of money. It's not that they are bad per se, it's that they are bad for the price segments that you find them in.
A $300 pair of beats *might* be close to on par with a $100-150 pair of sennheiser's for instance.
They are overpriced, with too much emphasis on pumping up bass frequencies at the expense of everything else.
Don't waste your money, get some real headphones.

I use pretty high end etymotic and klipsch in-ear-monitors, and once you try those, you can't go back to cheap earphones. Everyone's different though.
Ive always liked Samsung stock headphones. I like the way they fit in my ear, I know they are not as good as some expensive ones but combined with voodoo sound and a nice equalizer they're pretty impressive.
That being said, I use my beats headphones all the time now, They where free with my HTC.

To be honest i've found the stock headphones fine until I flashed a new ROM with Beats Audio installed. Just can handle the bass now.
They are not bad for the price which is free. I also have a pair of klipsch android version which for the price are amazing, I also have a pair of beats tour which are ok a bit to much base but sounds good with awesome beats equalizer. Now my go to head set is the Bowers & Wilkins p5's they are simply amazing.
The stock Note headphones are on the cheap side and that shows on the audio quality. I use some old in-ear dual drive Panasonic headphones and the difference is huge. The next step for me is the Martin Logan Mikros 70.
not sure...till now its still in the box.
i think their the normal ones samsung supplies cos i got similar ones with my gs2 also
They are o.k for a standard set. - But the quality of the earphones are not as good as in the past. Still have a couple of earphones from my samsung omnia, and they go much louder than these delivered with the note.
But if you want to use them for high end music they are quite rubbish I think
After some good usage out of them I've realised they're not as great as I originally made out... Still good for free and will be ample until I can get a decent set.

They really are awful. They feel like they will break in your hand. I tried them just to see how they would sound, never touched them again. I use my skull candy ear buds. Not the best in the world, but they have a good flat eq; which I like being a guy who records, mixes, and masters music.

They're unmarked noise-cancelling Beats. They're not amazing quality, but they're certainly not terrible. 7/10 maybe. This has been discussed in the other forums for the carriers who received headphones with their phones. Seeing as I didn't pay extra for it, and not all carriers received it with their phones, I'm quite happy with it. The headphones work, they didn't come broken or defective, so why complain? Beats is designed for low bass, so if you're listening to country or pop music, it's not going to sound great. While listening to the music genres it was designed for, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the music came across. Listening to spoken audio or music with little bass will not be perfect on any Beats product, let alone some free earbuds. Bose or Audiotechnica will blow these out of the water across the spectrum, but when you didn't pay specifically for them, these are quite satisfactory.

Bluetooth ones will more than likely have all controls (volume and answer buttons) working. I strongly recommend the Apple Earpods though if you care about the microphone. I have tried many highly praised wired/BT headsets and none of them have usable mics on the N5.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CredDeal-X-Series-Foldable-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00CQ2W20Q
Currently using these Bluetooth 4.0 Headphones with volume adjust buttons, mic, and a power button. Relatively simple. One piece of wire that connects the two pair of headphones and a small battery in the two earbuds that can play about 4-5 hours of music streaming over Bluetooth. I usually work out with these, so I had to get a pair of Bluetooth headphones that are light! So I can testify to their quality! Sound is solid as well, the sound is fairly close to my Klipsch S4 (II) earbuds. Headphones? Meh, I never buy bluetooth for those haha.
I couldn't find the US link to them, but I figured this should be a good lead. :victory:

Yeah, I'm not an "audiophile" (I really, REALLY hate that word) but I am an audio enthusiast (been in the audio industry for 15+ years), and I gotta recommend staying away from anything Monster or Beats branded. You are paying 10% for the headphone, 90% for the brand, and they generally sound like crap.
You want good buds for a good price, go with Yuin. IEMs- Shure or Westone. Cans- Sony, Beyerdynamic, higher end Sennheiser (their low end is crap), Grado, some AKG, HiFiMan, certain V-Modas. Portable supra aurals- Ultrasone has some good ones and the Koss Porta Pro's are pretty much unparalleled for their price and I'm pretty sure that they have ones with mics and controls now.
Bottom line, if they are mainstream and all your friends say to buy them, don't. The best values can be found in brands that don't spend millions on advertising.
