i tried to flash and older kernel but it still reboot . i guess i need to flash the kernel of cm10 that i was working on before i flashed (4.1.B.0.587) but i don't know what kernel to flash
Re-flash original Arc S .587 TFT through Flashtool. It should work !
For an ICS-based kernel, you can try Lupus v16 (with CWM included).

Boot your phone keeping the menu button. You'll enter fastboot mod, then connect it to your PC with Flashtool opened and flash the .img file.
Hope I helped you !

Hi Sam,
You can use CWM to format "system", and clear the cache.
Then re-flash the rom, and see if that allows you to boot up normally.
If this fails, then you can flash one of the stock roms on this thread to get your phone up and running again - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
Once you are up and running, remember to make a CWM backup before trying something risky (and yes, Google apps can be considered risky )

OK, so now you need to use "flashtool" - you'll have to search for it on the forums if you don't know what to look for...
Then you can find the firmware for your phone on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22105604
When you use flashtool with a firmware like this it overwrites the entire operating system with one that definitely works - even if you have a locked boot-loader.
Once you have a working phone you can start with the whole root and custom rom thing again...
Good luck
the reason for your bootloop is wrong kernel i think... you may have tried to flash jellybean rom with ics kernel...try to change kernel if you wanna flash jb again

Hello, Hotfingers
I'm sorry to revive this old thread, but I seem to have the same problem - only I flashed back to my stock firmware using flashtool and it's STILL stuck on the Sony logo for a whole half hour with nothing new on the screen. Can anyone help me out here?
edit: never mind, I found out that I was flashing the kernel the whole time rather than the firmware. Thank you very much for the help!
Hotfingers please Help ME
the phone only shows the sony logo but does connect by fastboot.
i have attached the log. the flashtool wont go pass where it says device connected.

To recover, put your phone into flashmode and then install stock firmware from a FTF file by using Flashtool.
I had rooted and installed HD 3.0.2 custom ROM on my son's Sony xperia arc s successfully and it was working well but the adventurist mind set to work and I wanted to try the jelly droid custom ROM.
I went to recovery mode via x tools and did the factory reset and formatting system.
Then I clicked install zip from SD card.it showed that update installed successfully then after around 15 minutes and no further instruction,I rebooted the phone.seems like I missed some step or something which I am not aware of.
now it only shows the Sony screen.I attempted going to the recovery mode pressing the combo keys volume down and power after taking out the battery but nothing transpired.
have I bricked my phone?
Is there any way I could bring it back to life?
would be obliged if anyone could recommend some steps to try and restart the phone.
thanking in anticipation

Did you flash the correct kernel for your phone? Ultimate HD uses stock kernel while the Jelly Droid should be using a custom kernel. You need to have bootloader unlocked to use a custom kernel. CWM does not work after flashing the update package as X tools installs CWM into /system which you just formatted. To be able to use CWM after changing ROM, use a stock or custom kernel that has CWM pre installed on it.

Thanks for your quick reply.it seems I did not flash any kernel or anything else prior to pressing the install from zip.seems a grave mistake on my part.
now that the phone does not even start up what could I do to recover the phone.
I am a complete novice and would request your good self to kindly suggest remedial measures to go back to the stock ROM or HD 3.0.2.The boot loader I think was unlocked before attempting to root the phone.the phone only shows SONY written on it.no turning off even.having to pull the battery to put of the screen.

To recover your phone, use Flashtool and install stock firmware to your phone with a correct FTF file. You can find the FTF file from the forum, just search.
OR if you have locked bootloader, then you can also use PC Companion to repair your phone.
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
Since you have bootloader unlocked, I recommend that you repair your phone using flashtool, since it's a hassle to relock bootloader to use Sony Update Service. After restoring your phone, flash a stock kernel with CWM on it so you can still use CWM after changing ROM. If you want to go back to UHD, Jader recommends LuPuS kernel to use with his ROM.

First of all, calm down , i rarely see arc-s really bricked and not recoverables so ,in this case, the best metod is a thinking mind. Answer my questions.
1° Have you checked your bootloader if it's locked/unlocked or if there is possibility to unlock it ? There are a plenty of guides about it.
2° Please describe how you have installed the rom.
If you have the possibility to reach the recovery , you have to fully format the phone. Factory reset, format system cache and dalvik. Only after that, try to re-flash the rom.

Are you even sure if it's volume up?
Flash mode -> connect phone to PC while holding down back button.
Fastboot mode -> connect phone to PC while holding down menu button.
Enter recovery(if installed) -> hold volume down button when phone boots up.

PC Companion's repair option should work as well, try that one. If you wish to stick to Flashtool, then first make sure you got drivers installed.
Hi All,
Sorry for the noob post, first time 'modding' my Acro S, but I have flashed lots of rom's on my old Xperia X10.
I unlocked my bootloader and installed a kernel containing CWM recovery today, and since doing that I have not been able to boot my phone past the Sony logo, it just reboots. I have tried to install a couple of ROM's but neither boot (Existenz Ultra & Emerald Smooth. Emerald Smooth fails with status 7 error, Existenz Ultra says it installs but still no boot. Also tried Honami rom but download always fails between 89% and 92%, tried 3 times). i also can't power off the phone, it just keeps rebooting. I have tried to repair my phone with PC Companion but it won't work due to the unlocked bootloader.
I would really like to install a stable custom rom as I found the stock rom had alot of lag, but at this stage I just want to get the phone working again! Can anyone guide me to which kernel files to install which include the latest cwm, how to install them and suggestions of which rom to use?
Thanks in advance guys!

Hi,
To turn off your device, press and hold the volume up+power button combination until you get 3 vibrations. At this point, your device will be powered off. You can now connect it to your pc in flash mode. Please use Flashtool by Androxyde to flash the stock rom as your bootloader is unlocked. Once the flash procedure is complete, normally turn on your device and it should boot up properly. After that, you will have to flash a custom kernel like this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309117
Then you can flash any custom rom in cwm.

Thanks again!
I recently got my Xperia M updated into 4.3 JB and rooted it. Since I had my eye on the cm11, I had to unlock the bootloader. So I did everything perfectly as prescribed in the sony developer site. As I unlocked my bootloader, I tried to normally boot it but it is now stuck in a bootloop. I installed CWM by fastboot thinking that it may help. Please help me!!
thats normal... follow steps
1. flash ftf again
2. boot once
3. install cwm
4. flash anything u want

When i now start my Phone and Press the Vol+ Button when the LED appears the LED just get Cyan and thats it. Nothing happend, no Recovery, just nothing...
If anybody could help me, that would be very nice.
BTW: Yes, the Bootloader is unlocked.

which build did you install it? if you did first install you need custom recovery from your rom and then you can install cm to your devices.
first you need FOTA Recovery for your primary recovery, see in this thread for installation http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58515383&postcount=1
. i suggest you to install twrp version 2.8.7.0 and turn on your device, after that connect it to your pc via adb and do dd if command.
after complete, restart your phone and go to recovery mode and you can flashing safely without any worries again
if you have any question just ask me again
