[Q] Stable ROM for Optimus G E973? - LG Optimus G (International)

Hi:
I want to install a stable ROM (not RC, not nightly build) , preferably 10.1 Jelly Bean for my Optimus G E973. I am in Canada, so I have the E973 instead of the E975.
cyanogenmod has a stable version for E975, but not E973.
So it won't work with my device, correct?
They recommended me to come here and ask if XDA has a stable mod for E973.
Please let me know. All Help is greatly appreciated.

The most stable is Paulicat's AOKP, but the current build has one issue with the kernel which he is fixing. Once that is fixed, it should be stable, he's not basing it off of nightlies. I wish that the devs would build stable ROMs in addition to all the nightlies, but I guess if they did that they would have nothing to develop

Oh and most of the ROMs for the AT&T variant will run on our phone, just the notification light doesn't work as far as I can tell.

Houstonn's RootBox is very stable. Updates are coming less frequently, and they mostly new features, not bug fixes. Works extremely well on the E971, which is virtually the same as the E973 (just different radio frequencies).
Sent through the magic of an LG Optimus G (E971) running RootBox 4.2.2.

Hi:
what exactly is the major difference between E975 and E973? from what I read in the specs, it is just mostly regional differences. E975 is an European release, where E973 is North American release.
So, in theory, i SHOULD be able to run Cynagogen Mod E975 on E973, correct?

The cameras are different but you could try an e973 kernel and it might work.

Ok, besides Cyanagenmod, what other choices do I have as for a stable E973? Can someone post a link here so I can research and look into the matter?
Thanks

Why don't you just read through the Canadian development forum and try a few of the ROMs there?

RootBox, AOKP, and CyanogenMod threads in the Canadian sub-forum (which even has E973 in the forum name) all cover this.

rootbox definitely for me... even though the developer updates every day or two... you dont need to update...
it is working amazingly stable for me... never had a lock up or reboot... and the battery is pretty decent too

I've noticed that the repository in the Dev section doesn't really get updated very often. So, I'm making a new one that I will keep updated as new ROMs/Mods and root methods come up. If you don't see a ROM/Kernel/Guide listed, let me know and I'll get it on there.

Awesome job. I was thinking about putting an updated repo together for our section, but I decided against it, but yours is great.
Now, I have some constructive criticism and/or ideas for you which you can decide to either use, or ignore.. but here are some of my thoughts.
(I've included info, followed by a link, followed by the bb-code for simple addition to your list, excluding formatting (you can add that :highfive: )
From what I've seen, most of the best roms we have include Adreno libs and GPU Driver Update, so I suggest adding them:
I personally recommend the GPU Update if using CM10.1 (or roms based on it):
Update (GPU) (KGLS) drivers
HTML:
Update (GPU) (KGLS) drivers
The Adreno 220 drivers should be a useful addition, even just for dev purposes if nothing else:
[Driver] Qualcomm S3 Adreno 220 GPU ICS Flashable Update {UnSigned}

[Driver] Qualcomm S3 Adreno 220 GPU ICS Flashable Update {UnSigned}

And I also suggest including some of the available p930 dev information that you've missed:
Might be obsolete, but might want to throw it in:
[DEV] LG-P930 Source Code- Let the deving begin!
HTML:
[DEV] LG-P930 Source Code- Let the deving begin!

Also seem to be missing V20e Telus Stock by HO!NO! , or it may be improperly labelled:

It may also be a good idea to include some popular themes and apps.. I love the MIUI x4 Apex/ADW/Go theme, and the Touchwiz 5.0 theme for CM10.1 and there are also several very useful threads, and information in the Android Development and Hacking sub-forum.. Might want to take a look there, and include some of the good info provided there.
As I mentioned above -- and this is just a thought -- I suggest simply copy/pasting the thread title instead of the way you have some of the roms, and such labelled; as they are somewhat misleading to a native English-speaking person (me), so I imagine people less fluent in English may have more trouble finding exactly what they're looking for via this thread. Again, as I said everything I've suggested here are simply that - suggestions. I am not trying to tell you what to include, or how to make a thread, and I hope my tips are useful to you.
Thanks again for taking the time to put up an updated repository, and taking on the responsibility of keeping a thread updated for our section of these awesome forums.
Thanks NFleck! I've added the ones you listed to the repository. I'll go through and find the popular apps and such when I have more time.

No? They're for the lg p930.. With some being ported to the korean model.
Never heard any mention of being compatible with the lg spectrum.. Although with the same processor/gpu there could be some cross-compatibility. I'd look in that sub-forum for dev...

I'm terribly puzzled
I've have spent 16-19 hours on my computer trying to find the best Rom for my LG Nitro HD. I have explored each and every thread above read and studied the comments one by one, over and over again trying to find a good and stable Rom. probably one that works fine. fast and smooth. I'm a complete android noob, android is not common were I'm from in Africa. People here prefer Blackberry and Nokia Asha phones so all I have is you guys to help me. I know there is no perfect ROM out here, there is always one issue or the other. when i was going through the threads i got confused so confused that i cant make any decision. I have not installed and tested any Rom before. I don't want to risk and use my phone for experiment. I use LG Nitro HD AT&T Unlocked. Please guys tell me which Rom that has Good-Normal battery life, sensitive digitizer, smooth and fast, less random crashes, application compatible, Bluetooth and data working, camera and 1080p video recording working and most of all does not require unbrick process. May not be as good as what i listed above but anything close to that will be well appreciated. Please help a brother. You guys are way far better and experienced than I am. I know how to install Roms, Root ETC. dont need to teach me. Please all I need is suggestions.

I'll hit the most important point first; the need to unbrick. If you are running Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) then you will not have to unbrick; merely flash CWM once you are rooted. If you are running an official 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, I regret to inform you that you will indeed be required to unbrick. No way around that and it's really not as hard as it looks.
My answer is going to be quite general as the important qualities are fairly static from ROM to ROM. That being said, the ICS and CM9 ROMs will likely be your best bet as far as stability and battery life go. CM10 and up seem to be fairly stable as well but go through battery much faster than ICS. For the most part, the other qualities you have listed are quite close to being equal across the board. Some may be smoother than others, but in my honest opinion, the differences between ROMs - outside of battery life and 'bells and whistles' - is negligible and tends to come down more to personal preference.

Thanks for the reply. I'm running Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)/ Rooted. did CM9 Roms Eliminated the the Lag that comes with LG Nitro HD. I noticed that the phone doesn't run so smooth compared to other dual core phones (Skyrocket, ETC) and the screen digitizer does not register your touch so easily. Did any of these Rom tackle the matter? I'm ok with just the normal Battery life. I'm thinking of Liquid Nitro. On your opinion Does it seem to work for you?

I tried porting, doesn't seem to work. Needs to be built from source I think. Houstonn should be able to do it, he did Sprint version. I might try it later if not.
Houstonn has a couple of test builds of ParanoidAndroid 3.50 with Halo (their multi-window thingy) enabled. You can find them via the download link in his RootBox thread (E973 sub-forum). Just look in the test-build folder on his downloads server.
In theory, they should work, as the E975 is close to the E971/E973 that it's built for.

Tried his sprint version on my E975, all but data works I think, not sure if you can change apn or something to fix it quick. With some luck he can support geehrc also or teach me or someone to do it ^^
The builds I'm talking about are for the geeb aka E971/E973 aka Canadian GSM/HSPA/LTE versions with 8 MP camera. Not the wierdo Sprint version. These should (from what I've read) work on the E975 as well, as the hardware is virtually identical.
http://downloads.codefi.re/houstonn/lgog/canada/rb/test-builds
Edit: In that directory, there's also a separate kernel for the geehrc.
Confirmed... The rom and the kernel works, including chadouming houcha kernel for the E975. (But be adwised, the pa geehrc kernel and the pa rom are only test´s) You can even use chadouming houcha kernel for E975, with houstonn´s Vanilla RootBox and perhaps a few other rom´s made for the E973 that i haven´t tested yet...
But you will only be able to use 8mp cam for now, as phoenix_rizzen mentioned before... If that´s of any importance.

[Q] most stable rom sense/non-sense?

Hey Everyone! please tell me which is the most stable sense and non sense rom??? Which rom and kernel combination is the best?? I have already checked out the similar threads but most of them are outdated so please help me out thanks
I can't speak for Sense ROMs but I've been running Chillybean's CM10 ROMs for the past few months -- only a few bugs with sound and reboots up until the most recent 20130929 build (CM10.2 / JB 4.3).

All of chillybeans's 4.3 roms that is cm10.2 beanstalk 4.3 don't have working gsm if you want gsm I would recommend Leoposas's Zoe Rom its cm10.1 and runs really great
I saw this thread on how to enable gsm on Verizon mobiles running up to 4.4 but I tired to use it on chillys PacRom 4.3....
I wonder if am doing it all right or does the rom have no gsm support at all
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
well it really all depends if you like sense or if you like aosp or aokp. if you just want a good rom for daily basis id suggest a sense rom. if you're into customization then more than likely you're gonna want to go with aosp or aokp. but with you using gsm those roms are kinda iffy seeing as a lot of them for gsm use are still in the works. if you do want an aosp rom tho id suggest cm7 i do believe for most builds they do have gsm working or you can try the global roms made for gsm or that Zoe rom if you're wanting to be on jellybean. ive got cdma so my options arent as limited. hope this helps in some way.
You should all try Chillybean's fly-CM10.2 its really fast and smooth and has working gsm its 4.3
Yeah its a pretty cool rom. Still having a bit of problems in the cm source tho like with screenshots and torch but its definitely worth check out.
---------- Post added at 11:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 PM ----------
And the thing with the gsm patch even tho it says it will enable gsm on verizon cdma phones doesnt mean it will work on all devices and patches dont always fix the problem if its deeper upstream related. Hope this helps.
Downloaded and flashed chillys cm10.2 minus the screenshot problem, absence of nav bar, buggy status bar when using xposed tinted status bar....its an awesome smooth ROM, a nic bream from the constant reboots of the 4.2 ROMs.
Thanks for the info
I've tried all of Chilly's ROMs, and the most stable for me is 10.2 (4.2.2) Slim Bean. All of the others eventually slow down and require frequent reboots. At this point, I don't know if it's something in the rom, or the B-Team kernel, but I think I've settled into SlimBean with the "stock" Chilly-evervolv kernel. It's the fastest/snappiest, and hopefully stays that way.
The only thing I'm missing is the CM Voice+ app.
I'm not sure which post I found it in, but this stock rom minus most Verizon crud is called
6.01.605.05_VZW__OTA-stripped-odex.zip
It's stabled but not "new".

The fly one is modded fly is the name of the mod whereas the other is pure stock. Look up fly mod in the Android development section for details of the mod

What do you mean by the "stock" chilly-evervolv kernel? I've been searching for a bit and can't find it. I've had the same issue with the slowdowns and I'd like to give this one more shot before reverting back to the sense roms.

"Stock" in this case means the kernel that comes with Chilly's 10.2 slim bean, as opposed to a kernel like B-team that you have to download and flash separately.

Unofficial builds of cyanfox, carbon and maybe others untested by me.
Kernels
Faust F93 kernel
A stable kernel with low frequencis. Good choice for battery life. For AOSP & and not AOSP roms. He also have a great function like MULTIROM.

If you go onto the play store download bam updater. This is the app that you should use to download your rom file. I'll include a link to the play store app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bam.android.bamupdater

which of 4.4 roms is best for battery life?
NONE of this roms will give you more juice, but the kernel and its settings will! So learn how to use your kernel and all its options and then you'll get best battery life.

I have seen you helping a lot of people here so I will go ahead and ask it. there's lots of info spread around about cpu governors and apps like tricksters and faux something. is there a place where I could find all this info together?

Sorry my mistake.
using the mokee rom, 2/14 release, battery life is ok , averaging out at about 13 percent usage per hour, 22 hour max, after a whole day of heavy usage, which is a whole lot better than stock.
i am sticking with this mokee for everyday use as the camera and autofocus is working. was having camera trouble with a bunch of other roms, and it's really sad because e975's camera wasn't that great to begin with.
observation, i don't know if its better coding by the rom makers but 3g connection speed, in particular youtube and radio streaming apps' buffering seems super fast now, with mokee and other roms i've tried.

[Q] KK ROM Suggestions

Look, I've been out of the rom game for a while but I'm trying to get back in. Sure, theres probably another thread about this but oh well. I just want to know whats the best KK rom (stability wise) available now. I need something with stable LTE & 3G and not many bugs. That's it that's all. Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it.
PA has been treating me great recently, along with Vanir and the unofficial Gee version of CM11 (NOT the gproj official version).
