I recently put Beanstalk ROM on my phone and the wireless worked for abit. Then it stopped working, I tried factory restoring the ROM and clearing EVERYTHING, Did not work. I tried changing kernels, No luck... I tried resetting my router, No luck.. My laptop, My girlfriends S3 with Axis ROM connects to it. I thought it was the ROM, So I went to the LiquidSmooth. No luck there either. It'll just say "Authenticating" or "Obtaining IP address..." Then it'll say "Saved" and repeat either of the two. I'm at a loss here because I try to save my mobile data for when I am not around Wifi to save on it for when I really need it.
I dunno where to look now.
Just curious is your imei number all 0's. Go to settings and about phone and check.

Got the phone two days ago.
Upgraded to ICS via Odin.
Root + CWM via Odin.
Flashed DARKSIDE.EVOLUTION.3 v8.
Didn't work for me personally.
Wiped cache and flashed aokp_hercules_build-M5_0xD34D.zip
Liked the ROM but noticed that signal bars were there but no data/4G.
Have been roaming the internet for hours now trying to figure out what went wrong.
All I can make sense is that something went wrong with the "radio kernel" or something like that.
If anyone can help me sort this problem out I would be extremely grateful. This phone was expensive and data plans are expensive, so I want to utilize both to their full potential. Thanks

I ordered two phones, the other was for a family member and theirs is working fine, even with ICS update, so there is no data outage problems in my area. As it turns out it was a defect in the phone. I contacted t-mobile and we went through this hour long procedure which produced no results. In the end, they asked if I would like to return the device or get a replacement. I opted for a replacement and so will be shipping it out soon. Lets hope the new phone doesn't go all unpredictable on me
[Q] Canada Virgin Mobile S2, T Mobile 4G not working.
So I've restored several backups, hard reset through phone settings, dialed ##72786# to re program phone, updated prl and profile, and finally LGNPST. My 4g data works fine but i cannot get calls texts to work.
When I switch to my gnex calls and texts work like normal. So this is not a network error.
Any ideas? The geniuses at my sprint store are stumped.

I didn't get a chance today to decompile the apk to see what's up but tomorrow I'm going all in see if I can help out. I really like JB with all them qslide apps I want to use it as my daily rom.
so op do the bars show an X
And have you toggled airplane mode?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Sometimes the bars show a red x. When there is an x I cannot get data either. Sometimes the x is gone and I get 4g again.
After LGNPST I was able to successfully update profile and prl but it did not fix the problem. I've been able to update profile a few times. After it says the profile has been updated the phone reboots. I've never seen that prior to this.
Oh and the lock screen and notification pull down both say sprint. As if it is connected to sprint service.

well think i found part of the reason, i no longer have a "min" or phone number, as well as my prl went from 25011 to 40000
I took it to Sprint and they could not get it activated either. They said the phone is not recognizing it's meid (I think, he may have called it something else). Luckily I have TEP so they ordered me a new phone free of charge.

Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Do you mean the original couple, or has there been a recent update? I flashed the original, as well as the first update and the 2nd and 3rd kernels(or whatever those zips were). It was strange. I had my gnex activated before I flashed the second update. When I reactivated the LG it seemed something had been ruined. 4g worked but no texts or calls.

Sprint cannot lock the device's radio. It can control whether it or not it has network access, but that would not cause a red X on the signal, just the 3G/4G to disappear. The bars, depending on connection, would still show even if the device was completely deactivated.
To anyone facing this issue, I would get your MSL (if you're rooted, there's an app on the play store) and dial ##786#, press menu key, reset to defaults. Unlike ##72786# which only resets network connection, this will reset your phone to default settings in case it is a software issue causing this, and it will also initiate a handsfree activation, in case the issue is network-related. Yes, your phone will be completely reset, so back up your stuff now if you keep precious items on it. I'm thinking pictures/video/media should be ok, but I would back them up or move them just in case. I do not want to be held responsible for your lost pictures

Cool deal. Sounds like your phone's wifi is borked. Now how about some information.
Stock
S-off/on
Htcdev unlock
Yeah, rooted or not? If its not, go into bootloader and try doing a factory reset and check again
May just be a corrupted system, so if you root it then you could try flashing another rom to see if that fixes it
My bad yeah its still stock.. I already did the factory reset twice.. talked to sprint customer care.. they said I need to talk to the local sprint store... I think if I root it and put a good ROM on it that it might fix it..
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Okay so a used or refurbished? If you have no warranty on it by all means root, s-off, and never look back. There are two things that can be your problem. Bad software on system or bad hardware on board. If it is hardware well no wifi but if it is software than you will then have a full rooted super fast evo.
50/50 odds wifi/nofi with no variables added yet.
Bad ota update would make it around 70/30
Next bad htc software 75/25 wifi/nofi
Sure I say go for it. I am doing one as we speak. While taking apart a cheesy Inspire to see if I can get the buttons working after it dived into a wall.

It may be his router causing the issue if it worked at sprint. If its hardware the radio is replaceable and fairly cheap these days. As long as you know how to work a screw driver and aren't a clumsy oaf, all you need to do is open it up extract the part carefully and order a replacement. Then replace it, button it up and give it a test run. Ifixit has the tear down to show you where and how to replace the radio

It could still be the router/phone combo. I know my sons kindle fire didn't like certain network types. It wouldn't even see ad-hoc and wouldn't connect to infrastructure with security. There could be a setting on the evo that isn't playing nice with the network settings or vice versa. Could be hardware, or software. Make sure sprint connections optimizer is off under network settings > more > mobile networks. You could also try reinstalling the firmware with an ruu and see if maybe the radios need updated or something in /system is corrupted

My friend's Arc S connects to WiFi/hotspot but there is no data connection. The WiFi/hotspot is good as we have another device using the same connection without any problem. It just started doing this suddenly today. Phone is completely stock and has been factory resetted a few days ago by us as we plan to give the phone to someone. After reset we connected to WiFi and install a few communication apps (Skype, viper, etc). Everything was good until today but we haven't changed a thing.
So far we tried restarting without success.

I need help guys, I was using my phone for only a week when all of a sudden I can't call or text or listen to my voice mail... instead I keep recieving "not registered to network" messages when i try and do anything involving data. When I go to my settings to enable data, its already on, but when I look for an available network, it turns off my data.. its like a never ending loop. Regardless of which I do first. My s4 is rooted but I doubt that could be the issue becauze it worked with my phone being rooted, anyone have any solution other than replacement?
