Well I have given up on wireless headsets and am looking for a quality wired headset for my HTC One.
I make quite a few calls and occasionally listen to music.
I am tossing up between a more mp3 audio headset such as the Klipsch Image S4 and the more call orientated Plantronics MX500.
Can anyone recommend a good quality headset with inbuilt microphone?

Out of those two, Id definitely go Klipsch. Ive always liked their products. I do use a Plantronics bluetooth for calls, but ive not used any of their products that Id rave about for music quality (Ive not used the MX500 though).

My gut says similar. The wireless headsets I have used are Plantronics Legend so have some exposure.
I listen to music probably 5-10% of the time though so the ability to play music is secondary.
My impression is that the wired call centre headsets have not been updated in a long time and are outdated.

My experiences with the legend were less than pleasant.
I was getting the problem of chronic interference when talking on a cell phone but reasonably clear talking on skype. I could never get to the bottom of it. I am using the headset that came with the phone but looking for something that is a step up in quality.
Anyone got an additional take on this or should I consider giving bluetooth another try?

Look at JLabs
http://www.jlabaudio.com
Usually they have sales and anything with an "m" after the name (example: J4m, J.Fi.m) are "mobile phone" headsets that have the mic and button integrated into the right cable. Right now I am using a J4m (that I got for 5 bucks in a grab bag), it is incredibly rugged.
Have been using Jlabs earbuds for years and they are some of the best sound (until you get into the 100-200 dollar range) I have heard out of an earbud. Also just bought the crasher bluetooth speakers.

So I made the mistake of getting another Voyager Legend.
Tried all of the following and had no success.
Ordering a JLabAudio tomorrow
1.) Wifi on and off
2.) Disabling wireless from the router itself
3.) Scanning wifi connections using inSSIDer
4.) Switching handsets to my wife's Samsung
5.) Using another Plantronics Legend
6.) Re paring device several times

In my ears it is. It took me a while to decide on what ones to get. These can last around 14hrs or so on a charge and charge by micro usb.
I sometimes use the samsung headphones that came with the gs2 if i don't want the bt module on my shirt. I put it to my pocket. Kinda pointless to some but I keep my phone cordless like this.
I an charge it on a table or something while still using the bt function. And the stock ear buds for the gs2 have a mic and I think the mic is used during a call. Cause people say they can hear me fine when the module is in my pocket or far away from my mouth.
I am using a Plantronics Backbeat. The one I bought came with a dongle that plugs into a non-bluetooth device. So I use the headset with my phone, via bluetooth. And also can hook up to my TV using the dongle. Under $100.
Picked it up last year at Fry's.

I use a Motorola S305 set. They are cheap in price (under $40 at Amazon) but sound pretty decent. Owned them for almost a year with no problems.
i got a huge list
however of the ones that performed the best
Motorola HT820 the best sound and beat, full feature, easy to use, extra long battery life
as of today i've not found anything that can compare, i've pretty much purchased every sony, jabra, motorola, platonic, all other names i forgot, etc, etc
all the rest were like meh.. 3rd place or worse rating
platonics are the worse
in 2nd place best i'll name Jabra BT8010 super convenient, it kinda sucks in the sound quality for audiophile but gets the job done if you want elegance
What about the LG HBS700: http://www.amazon.com/LG-HBS-700-Wi..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1319749852&sr=1-1 inexpensive, comfortable. great sounding.
the wires kinda defeats the purpose
that's something i didn't quite like about the Jabra BT8010
i'm looking forward to try out the new Motorola MOTOACTV https://motoactv.com/ which also have bluetooth stereo addon MOTOROLA SF700

Has anyone used one that works with the voice recognition software on the phone? I used to have an old wm5.0 phone that worked great with ms voice command.

I would like to combine my Note a good bluetooth headset that I do hear the caller's name perhaps diverting the ringer in the headset when it is set "to driving" that repeats the name of the caller.
I purchased the "BlueAnt Q2", which stores contacts in its internal memory and then repeat the caller's name (as promised!) but in fact repeats the caller's number one for a scanning the numbers.
Tips?

any suggestion for a bt closed earphones?
u cant really listen music with an in-ear earphones (like the sony or the sennheiser).
anyone checked, for example the halo2 from jabra?
tested:
plantronics discovery 975: volume:yes, answer call:no, recall last number:no, vocal controls:yes
LG hbm-900: volume:yes, answer call:yes, recall last number:no, vocal controls:no
sennheiser mm200: volume:yes, answer call:no, recall last number:no, vocal controls:yes, skip ff/back:no
nokia bh-504: volume:yes, answer call:no recall last number:no, vocal controls:no, skip ff/back:no
an answer from plantronics service was that we gotta wait new bt firmware from samsung for to fix bt problems.
after 20 years of bt there is still compatibility problems??!?

+1 for MW600... I have bought it for my SGS2 and now using for Note... Excellent... I am also using Sony Ericsson LiveView (with Note and MW600 together) but LiveView has it's own issues...
Tried my 5 years old Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headsets and they seems to be working wonderfully including A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Am on stock rom without any issues. Sound quality amazing !!!
+1 for the HS3000 from Samsung. Works perfectly and the volume controls are buttons which I prefer over an lcd slider in the MW600. Offers a standard 3.5mm jack so you can plug in any headphones you like.
Similar to the HS3000, I'm using my Nokia BH-214 that I was previously using for 2 years on my N900 and so far it works fine. No options for announcing the caller's name though... but for a $40 BT that lets you use any headset/earbuds you want it is a nice option.
Little inquiry:
Never used a bluetooth headset before, but now I'm considering getting one.
Just wanted to know if you need to have Bluetooth enabled all the time or you can set it so that it only does when receiving or making a call.

Yes bluetooth needs to be on all the time if you want to receive calls or audio from the phone.
---------- Post added at 03:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:55 PM ----------
My JayBird Freedom headset has arrived and it works very well with the Note. It took some doing finding some one willing to ship to Africa. (I ordered it from the JayBird Store).
Looking at the pictures of the freedom they look to be painful to wear but they are great and have a multitude of fitting options for the best comfort. I wanted a wireless headset specifically for music and audio books and this headset delivers there in abundance. Both with Audible & Mort Player for audio books and Player Pro for music.
Unfortunately as some online reviews state the call quality is a little disappointing, it's by no means unusable. But the sound is tinny and a little distant, it's is fact the opposite experience to the music and audio books I was taken aback a little by the contrast. Although tinny I could hear the callers quite clearly and they also stated they could hear me clearly although also a little tinny. Overall I am happy with the headset as it fulfills my primary requirement for listening to stuff without a cord getting in the way.

Ohh thanks. How much does having Bluetooth on all the time affect the battery life? That was my concern.
Hmm. Is there no app/hack/procedure that makes it so you can set it so that it only turns on Bluetooth when receiving or making a call?
But if it barely takes a toll on the battery then never mind.
I would think that the bluetooth link to the headset while not in a call would not take too much power. Having an app turn on bluetooth for a call may work but I suspect by the time the link to the headset has been established your phone would have routed the call to your voice mail.
I use a jawbone ERA without any issues.
I second that.
Love the caller name on the Era and also its customizability.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Jeally Bean stock.
I love to listen to podcasts (BeyondPod Pro) and speak on voip applications like Skype, Viber and CSipSimple (a sip client).
Since I really hate wired earphones I would like to buy a wireless bluetooth headsets with in-ear buds. Some examples of these kind of products are:
- Sony Ericsson MW600
- Nokia BH-111
- Samsung HS3000 (no media player keys)
- Jabra Clipper (no media player keys)
These headsets have around the same price where I live (Northern Europe), but for example the last two lack media player buttons so I was more focused on buy the first one, the Sony Ericsson MW600.
My first concern is if all the buttons are going to work with the applications I use, as well as the incorporated microphone in voip applications.
As I already wrote before I use BeyondPod Pro to listen to podcasts and for me the volume buttons and the play/pause buttons would be vital.
At the same time I heard that voip applications like Skype don't recognize the microphone built on the headset. This would be really a problem since I should use the phone to call making the whole headset useless. I also use Viber (another voip application similar to Skype) and CSipSimple. In this case the volume button and the answer/terminate call button should be essential.
Other applications I use are MXPlayer Pro and YouTube for watching videos and Google music to listen to music.
What I want to ask is to know if someone has already these kinds of headsets and can confirm if these buttons and the microphone are all recognized, or if you know other devices which work for sure.
Thanks in advance!
See my response in the other forum.

I can confirm that the call button works and the mic works fine as well. Running CNA and can even display music titles, but not caller ID however doesn't work, only shows phone numbers
The Sony mw600 hands down. Great distance, great sound quality, great microphone and it rarely skips. Trust me on the distance. Works above and beyond any Bluetooth headset I've owned before. And you can buy your own earphones. The ones that come with it suck.

The sound quality is rubbish compared to a Nokia headset (BH-500 or BH-214) but you need to try them to hear how bad the MW600 is, if the MW600 is the only one you ever heard you may not think its bad but belive me, it is, and the design is horrendous, the volume slider is touch sensitive and you cannot do anything like skip track or pause etc without touching it.
And the worst part is when you actually want to turn the volume up or down it doesn't respond. :banghead:
Sony got so many complaints about it they had to make a youtube video explaining how to use it!
Its amazing how many people give it a good review but when you actually find reviews from people that have owned it for more than a day like Amazon user reviews etc you get a better idea of how it is.
I bought it because of the great reviews people were giving it and i was hugely disappointed when i borrowed my friends Nokia to compare and was blown away by the difference in loudness, clarity and quality and its ease of use.
I always bought Sony in the past because i associate it with quality but something went terribly wrong with this.
I have a feeling the screen is to blame and is taking power from the amplifier.
Which ever you choose though, get some decent earphones although the ones that come with the Nokia 214 are pretty good for bundled earphones.

I like the Creative EP-650 In-Ear Earphones (there is a hands free model can't remember the model number) had them for more than 5 years still have their bass the best buy so far only thing is cable jingles a little and due to they Y shape it transmits the noise to your years, you need to wear them under your shirt to stop the noise transfer.

I had tried a bunch and have been continuously dissapointed with the sound quality on BT headsets. I finally went out and splurged on the Plantronics Voyager Legend and I must say people couldn't even tell I was talking from a BT. Unfortunately mine had a bug and wasn't loud enough on my end and I need to send it back to be replaced but I do think that for good sound quality it is worth the high price tag especially if you are using your phone for business (which is why I needed it). I think some models of similar items to the voyager legend from a year or two ago have already gone down in price so that can help to cut costs.
The plantronics units mentioned above I believe are for use in the building when you are hooking your phone up to them. The units I am referring to are cellphone BT headset
I am using a Jabra Wave headset which is quite convenient and really cheap (14€)
For a bluetooth headset, I am using an LG HBS-730. Sounds great with music. Would sound better if the GNex came with the Apt-x codec, but I have no complaints about the sound. Call functions are compatible with the buttons on the headset. Highly recommended. Can get a refurb model on Ebay for around $40 shipped.
I like to use bluetooth headsets to talk to the phone. With all my previous phones (samsung,lg,zte, huawei) I have always used Nokia bluetooth headsets. With this phone people don't hear me good with my Nokia headsets. So can anyone suggest me a headset that works perfectly with the One?
Plantronics Voyager Legend. I've had many BT headsets, and this one is the best by far. I can stand 2 feet away from a running diesel engine, and the person on the other end asks me why I'm shouting. The noise cancellation is just unbelievable with this thing.

That site doesn't help. I know where to buy bluetooth headsets and I know that generally all are compatible with the phone. What I would like to know is from users that use bluetooth headsets if they have to suggest a specific bluetooth headset that they use and know that it doesn't make noise to them or to the others that they talk with.
take this with a grain of salt as I don't use the phone feature that much.
my old LG hbs-700 worked very well, great sound and good phone reception as well, I received or placed phones while in gym, biking, etc.
I know there is a newer version featuring apt-x as well, you might wanna search for reviews on this.
since then I moved to on-ear headsets, I really like this telme2 headset I bought a couple of months earlier, good sound again, very rich, apt-x, no lag streaming audio from tv; I have also used mostly to receive calls, no complaints here, the phone reception is OK on both ends.
I also own the sennheiser mm 400-X, I have used very little for calls, but seems to do the job OK. however this latter device it's much more expensive, imo too expensive to justify its features..
