I ported CM10.1 from HTC Desire S for myself as a project / porting practice, with Shpongle 20130521 as the base. I've tried fixing it, but I'm not sure I did anything. Can anyone help me with this? (Logcat attatched)
Try taking from port:
libandroid_runtime.so
Libandroid_servers.so
Libmedia_jni.so
And copy them to your port, the trt again. You find them in system/lib.
Copy from the desire cm10.1 to the rom you are trying to boot

That's what I did already. I also experimented with removing camera.default.so and camera.goldfish.so in /system/lib/hw. It got rid of the camera service errors, but still looped. Would you like me to attach a logcat of after removing camera.goldfish.so and camera.default.so?
Now that I looked at your logcat you get the same exact errors I get with xenon hd. Same exact. I didn't try to remove the camera stuff, but yeah try to upload the logcat with camera default removed

Here it is with camera.default.so and camera.goldfish.so removed.
There must be another way, if you remove those files you get errors of files that needed those files, if you remove and remove the rom will soon become empty I'm trying some stuff, I'll let you know

Here ya go. I pulled it out of SalvageMod 1.1
Most likely will need to be pushed to /system/app
You could just re-flash your ROM...

Root explorer
Copy the file over to system/apps and make the permissions the same as the rest of the folder.
If it asked to overwrite just hit yes.

You need to place the apk on the root of your sdcard, then open root explorer, enable r/w mode, navigate to sdcard, copy the apk, then get into the system/app folder, then paste.

What steps are you doing? I can't test the file because I don't have an evo at the moment.
I put it at the root of my SD card and then I copy and pasted it to /system/app and then I tried to install it. Could you explain to me what parsing is?
I also mounted r/w
Well the parsing error is cuz its having trouble reading the file.
So does that mean the file is corrupt?
Its possible, I would try re-downloading it.

The problem is because you're trying to install it. You don't install system apps. You just copy and paste it to the /system/app folder. THen make sure your permissions are set correctly, by long pressing on the Music.apk, and selecting permissions. Then be sure that user: read/write are both checked. After that, reboot. That's it. You don't click on 'install'. Copy, paste, check permissions, reboot.
or of course
adb remount
adb push Music.apk /system/app
adb reboot
I just tried all of that and it isnt installed after I reboot.

You finally get your phone back? It's about time!
I just downloaded the Music.apk that I attatched, and can't get it to install. I'm on a Sense rom at the moment, and have never tried installing the Gingerbread Music.apk on a Sense rom, and doubt/not sure that it would even work to begin with. Either that, or maybe there are other files that need to go with it? Any other music player I've installed (HTC music player, MIUI player, and Honeycomb player) has no other necessary files, and you just push the .apk to /system/app and all is good. This one seems different, or it just doesn't work on Sense roms. I'm not sure. I tried the Music.apk from Evervolv too, but that wouldn't work either.
OP, what Rom is it that you're on? Are you currently on a Gingerbread rom? If so, just wipe cache, and dalvik cache, then re flash the ROM, as drmac suggested before. That will give you back all of the apps that came with the rom. If you are indeed on a Gingerbread ROM, you'll get the player you're after back. If you're not on a Gingerbread ROM, I'm not sure that the 2.3GB player will work on it to begin with.
I have just installed the Pays-ROM Defy v6.0 Froyo with Ginger feeling in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943258.
I don't want to use the mms.apk(I cann't remember its name accurately) and delete it, but now I donn't have a text messaging app. So could you please tell me how to recovery it?
Thanks a lot!
BTW, I cann't find a file manager in the ROM.
if you deleted it, youll have to get it from someone else, or you could do a nandroid backup, re install pays ROM and copy the app to your memory card using root explorer or similar, then restore your old backup and install the apk from your memory card

I have got the app folder from CG39.smg, but I don't know which app is for the Text Messagings.
I tried copy Conversations.apk and Conversations.odex to "SystemAppBackup" folder (I have SystemApp Remover installed), and then used SystemApp Remover' recovery function but it didn't work.
Try with Messaging.apk and Messaging.odex. (you can copy those files in your /system/app folder also using adb if you have Android SDK installed on your computer)
Currently I am at work and I don't have the usb cable with me, but when I'll get home I'll send you those files (if you don't get them by then)
Im pretty sure the app needed for sending sms' and settings is something like mms.apk, ill have a look in my system folder for ya
EDIT: yeah im pretty sure its mms.apk, id post mine up for you, but im on cyanogen so itd be a different app.

I tried in this way but the yaffs explorer I used cann't access the root under the Pays-ROM Defy v6.0, which works well under other stock rom. And before I found Root Explorer I have flashed another stock rom because I couldn't wait to stay with a rom cann't send and receive text message. Maybe the mms.apk is also OK.
Sorry for my poor English.
You know sense 3.0 mms app better than 2.x. Is there any way to install it on stock rom without flashing a custom rom?
You will need to have ADB installed on your computer.
If you don't already, look for a guide. I recommend you install it like this. "C:/Android"
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled.
Place the file I provided into the folder with ADB in it.
Start ADB using the path you used to install it.
Use this code.
Code:
adb remount
adb push Mms.apk /system/app/Mms.apk
That should work for you.

nope you dont need, with a root enabled file explorer go to /system/app and delete mms.odex, if it doesnt work go to recovery and wipe dalvik, if it also doesnt work, i attached odexed version of mms.apk, extract my attached file into your sd card, copy them to /system/app and set permissions to -rw -r -r, and it should work.
question
is there a way to get the sense 3.0 mms app on CM7 by any chance?

If on a deodexed rom then replace sense 2.1 mms app with sense 3.0 mms app. Set permissions r-w-rr or 644. Perform a reboot for changes to take place.
If on an odexed rom delete both Mms.apk and Mms.odex. Add the new Mms.apk and set permissions. Perform a reboot for changes to take place.

Hey all,
I read some have problems setting up an apn in the settings menu, caused by a so-called funny sim. I did not encounter such a problem with the roms I used from the devs here.
But I want to give a you something that might work for you besides other funny solutions I read. ^^
Here we go:
Firstly do a backup of your device or just the file were are going to change, do it like you prefer. Saver is an full nand-backup.
Secondly grab the Rom you want to flash and replace the apns-conf.xml in /system/etc inside the zip with the one I provide.
Thirdly wipe everything like always and flash the zip, reboot and be happy if apns get loaded for you. ;-)
If it is not, maybe your carrier is not in the file, so check this first.
This may not work:
Second grab the apns-conf.xml attached with this post. Extract the xml file.
Copy the file onto your device and than move it with an root browser to /system/etc. You could also adb push the file to /system/etc, if you know how to.
I think a reboot is necessary.
You could also push the file via adb when you are in the recovery after doing a backup, so you haven't to start up the system move the file and reboot again.
Let me know if it works, other ways to solve this are welcome.
Hope it helps some of you.
Credits to the Cyanogenmod-Team and the others how worked on this file.

The zip file is damaged. From what I found, the version of the apns could be the cause of this problem.

First like wrote, I never encounter some issues relating apn.
But I tested Cow v7 Rom.
I take the zip file and replace the apn-conf.xml in the archive with the one I provided. Then I wipe everything and flashed the Zip.
After the boot I look up the apn settings in the menu and a set of entries were loaded for my carrier. So, I would say for me I worked.
Just doing a little other way, than I described in OP. I will write it down there.

Sorry to hear, have you look into the file, if your carrier is listed. Just search inside the file for the name, cause there are so many. If not try to copy a existing apn config in the file and change it to your carriers settings.
By the way if it works, you don't have to set up a apn, cause it will be loaded after the start, maybe just wait a minute or soo. But it could be that CM9 and ICS in general handles apns a different way.
Have you got an good idea for helping the others??
Hey,
I want to encourrage everyone to post, if he or she has an idea to try out.
Am I thought falsely that more than just a handfull had problems with apn settings?!?
And if you had tried out your idea, post it please.
Maybe another solution could be in the frame-res.apk there you found the file apns.xml. But I was not successful in building the apk with apktool after modifying it.
Can some try it, or know a way to build the apk from a folder?

After u recompile it by using apktool, there will be an apk in dist folder. U need to sign the apk before using it.
Alternatively, after recompiling the apk, there will be a folder called "build" and it has a file called resources.arsc, use 7-zip to open the original framework-res.apk and replace the resources.arsc
Then u are done.

That will be great. Did u use the correct command?
for decompile:
Code:
apktool d -f framework-res.apk
for recompile
Code:
apktool b -f framework-res
Yeah I used them, but never mind. Somehow it worked this time, but with some errors, maybe I changed the file in a way it could not be resolved from the compiler or something like this.
I also use now a other program to modify it.
Alternative Method
My solution is slightly different
(note your phone must be rooted)
Install stock rom 2.3.6 for your region and set up phone.
Using root explorer copy csc folder, found in the system folder, to your computer.
Using WinRAR or similar open (do not extract) the rom zip you wish to flash ( note only roms based on 2.3.6 will work), drill down to the system and open it if you find a csc folder there open it and compare with yours, most custom roms don't have this folder.
Add your csc folder using WinRAR and check it has worked Close WinRAR it should have rebuilt the zip.
I am looking to modify my phone.apk to change the color of a few buttons and the android guy that shows up when in a call. I have done this in the past and it seemed like then it was as simple as deleting the files in 7-zip and replacing with the file I wanted. Am I missing something or is it not that simple. Every time I try to move a file or delete it its says "not Implimented" or un supported compression method. I know how to push and pull files through adb so if I could just get the .png images where I want them then I would be all set. I have looked everywhere but cant seem to come up with a solution.
Thanks Jason
PS. the files are from another rom I am simply trying to use them in my current rom so the .png file should not be corrupt or broken.

Not true, regular image files can (should) be able to be draged out, edited, and droped back in an apk using 7-zip.

My guess would be that the apk was decompiled at some point before, but not recompiled right, or with the right program. Which phone.apk are you having issues with, the one on your phone or the one your pulling the pngs from?
I am having problems with the phone.apk I pull from my phone with adb, with the phone.apk that is in the original rom, and the phone.apk that is in a nanadroid back up. The rom I am running is anthem 3.3. I am starting to think that there is a problem with 7-zip on my computer. Is there a setting I need to change? I have even ran 7-zip as administrator to see if that helped.
