[Q] Amazon Apps on Rooted Ist Gen Fire - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am have problems with previously purchased games or apps from Amazon running on a rooted 1st generation Fire? As an example, Angry Birds (Ad Free) previously downloaded from the Amazon Kindle Store crashes on startup. So do the other four of the series. The kindle is rooted with KFU 9.9. I've managed to work around a few other issues, both in Launcher and Kindle, Got Prime Instant Video working fine. Any clues or previous experience? Thanks.

I have another issue with Google Play Store. It halts with a <Sorry> The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. - <Force close> dialog box. If I do an uninstall, Google Play Store reverts to Market, which works one time and updates to Google Play Store again. So far, I haven't been able to download any version of Angry Birds from Google Play.

Try installing Google play from this

Kindle fire hd 7 some glitches after first side

Hello,
I'm experiencing some issues after using first aide to root my kindle and install Google market.
If I click on shop I now receive an error and same is on offers, nothing gets launched.
Rebooting didn't fix the issue.
Any idea?
I also tried to put Google market as default but got just an error...

Is it Google Play or Market? If its Market, you will get a time out error on a slow network because it will be updating to Play Store. Same goes for an older version of Play Store too. My suggestion for you would be to download the latest Play Store (or a modded one that allows you to bypass their supported device check) and install it. There are a few threads for that around XDA. :good: Good luck

I have Kindle working just fine on my OTA updated US unlocked Fire phone with Google Play Store reinstalled.
Thanks for confirming.
Mine is not rooted... or I forgot... don't use this phone much.
Anyone knows how can I reinstall it? There's no kindle app on Amazon store. Man Amazon really dropped the ball on whatever android experience they were going for... I might just try to install the one from play store
Ah wait, if yours rooted that means you're on a much older version of fire os. Mine was bought late so I have the last version

Hi, gcbxda. My Fire Phone is not rooted. I moved to 4.6.1 a few days ago. Just a shot in the dark - try clearing cache, etc. Go to settings, applications and parental controls, manage applications, set the filter to all, select Bookstore.

My Unlocked 4.6.1 phone has 2 Amazon kindle icons now. App info says Book store ver. 2.2.2000429100 which opens fine and works, and the 2nd is Amazon Kindle ver. 1.5_1357580710 which does nothing like you described. Weird part is the first one has no name under it.
Mine is the same as your first one. It says Books under the icon. I think this one came with the phone, but it may have been automatically updated in Google Play Store.
aha. yeah. i have two icons as well. in pretty sure i never installed from Google store. it must be how the annoying fire home screen works. somehow it needs those two apps and hide from the user... which other launchers do not do.
