[Q] LiquidSmooth v2.8 - Cannot upgrade Nova to Prime - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade the Nova Launcher included to the prime version but somehow it is not allowing to do so. First I can't find the uninstall option, Second there is disable button but that itself is disabled. So I tried to force stop it and tried to upgrade but it's not working. Can someone please help???
Thanks

I would think all you need to do is install Nova prime, are you getting an error message when you try to install it? You can't disable it or unistall it because it is considered a system app. You can use ROM Toolbox to remove system apps but be careful.
Don't know why you wouldn't be able to upgrade but what I would do is;
1) Install ROM Toolbox
2) Install another launcher like Holo (just to make sure you have a launcher available) and set it as the default launcher
3) Use ROM Toolbox to uninstall Nova Launcher (I don't know if you need the pro version to uninstall apps but I don't think so)
4) Try to install Nova Prime
5) Uninstall the other launcher you installed

I had the same problem.... As stated above, just install a different launcher, then use a app that can remove root apps (root uninstaller from play store is free) uninstall nova and then install prime.

Thanks. I will give it a try. As of now I have switched to "Android Revolution HD" as I running into different issues. But I will observe the battery life on this, which very good so far and then with try to switch to LiquidSmooth in the weekend.
Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it.

[Q] uninstall launcher pro

I cannot seem to figure out how to uninstall launcher pro. i tried going to the market to uninstall and everything but there is just nothing there, it just asks me to install. anyone know how i can remove this?
D/L another launcher from the market, install it.
Uninstall LP via Root Explorer delete of LP files, reboot, utilize new launcher.
Home Switcher anyone? get that, switch to default launcher, uninstall LP from Android Market

Hi,
I was wondering, is it possible to uninstall the Android stock keyboard on my cell (CM7) with "Root uninstaller"?
That's pretty large, 11MB, and I'm using SwiftKey... So that could be great.
Thanks!

If you want to replace ADW, yes its possible and basicly recommended since CM uses old build of ADW, even tough its made for system use. But yes its possible. And its recommended to do it the way I have done it.
1) get Titanium backup from market, free version will do just fine
2) get an app that can browse root and set permissions (Root browser free recommended)
3) get the launcher APK you want to replace ADW with, it can be old version, market will update it to the latest.
Once you have all these
1) Rename your desired launcher "Launcher.apk"
2) Copy it to system/app
3) Set its permissions to match this
Code:
Read Write Execute
Owner X X X
Group X
Others X
4) Reboot phone
5) after reboot press home and choose your desired launcher
6) delete ADWlauncher via Titanium backup (Also any other app can be removed using TB, default keyboard for example)
Hope you get your desired launcher
Replaced mine with MIUI ADW Launcher btw
I just installed Go Launcher, and removed ADW with root uninstaller.
Working great.

yes why not... but make sure to have nand baskup whenever you do anything like that...
it can be done with dialer, msg app, keyboard, stock browser, launcher or anything like that... just install new one, make it deafult, set it up, try it few days and see if it crashes or bugs, if not, just uninstall with root uninstaller what is no more needed

[q] ics tips

Ok I'm about to install the gedeROM ICS v1.35. Before I do I want to make sure I don't screw it up. I have TWRP2.1.1 And I backed up everything. I have the Rom loaded to sd card. So as iundertsand I boot in recovery wipe factory restore wipe davik cache flash .zip rebooted and enjoy. Anything I should know before I do this or does it seem that easy and straight forward. I was hit with problems first time trying to do it on win xp Pc. Win 7 everything was smooth with the root. Any help would be appreciated.
I'd suggest before you wipe anything to do a backup of your current ROM. I typically wipe dalvik AFTER flashing the ROM as well as BEFORE.
success
Everything went well with install. Not a single problem. Thank you developers
FYI for people who like to constantly update their ROMs like I do - I would suggest the following:
1) buy the Titanium Backup Pro key - you will use the crap out if it to batch backup/restore your apps & data after a wipe and fresh ROM install
2) Using TB to restore your apps + data works great, but what about your homescreens? Don't forget to backup your homescreens...usually you can do this through the settings menu on whatever launcher you are using. I'm using GedeROM 1.3 and I prefer the Apex launcher over the Trebuchet launcher. In Apex settings menu, you have the option to backup/restore desktop. I'm pretty sure most of the big name launchers have this same option. So when I update the ROM with a new version, all I have to do is restore my apps w/ TB and them restore the desktop through the Apex settings. Of course, this doesn't work if you switch launchers when you change ROMs

You can go to manage apps, select your current launcher under all apps, and clear defaults. Then, next time, when you click the home button, you should be prompted to select a launcher.

You could try installing GO Launcher EX. When you hit home it will ask what launcher to use. From here use Apex and select default. Then uninstall Go Launcher (if you want)
I installed root app remover and got rid of the two launchers that came with the from. Then got go launcher

Download any deodexed stock rom and open up the zip and get \system\app\Launcher2.apk. It's as easy as that . If you want to remove a launcher, open up the .zip and just delete it before even flashing the rom (though make sure you replace it with another). You can usually add/remove apk's from the rom .zips before you flash all you want as long as you do not force md5 checks when flashing (well, as long as you don't remove any essential apks).
MD5 check before changing apks
Do check for MD5 before changing apks, so that you know nothing else is different except the changes you made.
Simple way

You don't have to use other aps to get ride of it. Just delete some chache and data of Nova, reset nova setting, then you can uninstall it, forever from your smartphone. As simple as simple it self

How to uninstall nova launcher in [ROM] 13/9] Eragon v.2.0

Just flashed [ROM] 13/9] Eragon v.2.0 | Android 5.1 and tried uninstalling nova launcher but every time the phone crashes and i have to perform a factory reset.
You really want to uninstall it or use different launcher? Simply install different launcher it will let you choose to not use nova launcher.

i dont know why nova prime dont work for you.. lol
for me its fine.
you dont need to uninstall nova launcher for prime.. the nova prime app is only a key for nova launcher..
just download prime from playstore and it will work..
if you really want to uninstall nova launcher from system and you want to reinstall it again do this:
1. download another launcher like apex. (thats why your system crash, because if you remove nova there is no launcher in rom and nothing to display)
1. with a root explorer browse to system/priv-app
2. delete the nova folder.
3. reboot
4. download nova from playstore.
5. remove apex by uninstall it.
6. done
