Need help with storage of pictures that I get via whats up app. They are all getting stored on phone memory. Anyway to switch the storage folder to ext card ? Even the videos getting stored on phone memory taking up valuable room on the phone . Please advice.

have you tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036796 ?
this will "swap" your internal to external mSDC. always nandroid your data before trying this mod.
Or you could create a folder called Whatsapp Pictures in your SD Card and transfer all your photos to that folder

Best apps I found to use is Disk Usage or Dual Folder from the Play store. Disk usage to see what's eating up space and deleting thumbnail data. Dual folder for individual files

In your camera settings there is an option where to save pictures and videos. The settings is called Data Storage and allows you to pick internal storage or SD card.
Now will that set the settings to save all pics videos to sd. The only other way is by computer or root. And I dont want to root yet till we get custom roms or are able to unroot The ion l. Cause Tue probpem im hqving is if someone sends me a photoe or video it wants to send it to internal and not give me an option for sd card.

No that setting will only store photos or videos you take to where ever you set it to. I don't think there is a way currently to have any pictures or videos sent to you to store on the SD card.
I was just wondering about sd card storage. The sd is actually "ext_card" right? I tried changing the xda app's download path to: "mnt/ext_card/xda_ download" but it still saves to "mnt/sdcard/xda_ download".
Would xda need to be running from the sd card to save to it?

You can use ES File Explorer to move them on your device.

So today I noticed all my photos in my gallery app were greyed out... thought it was strange. Selected one... big grey pic... then another.... and another....
These pics span the internal storage and sd card....
First I deleted the cache to the gallery app.... same result...
OK... went into es file explorer.... dcim... camera..... all JPEGs gone....
Went into the sdcard..... have multiple folders under pics main folder... all empty... except for any video files...
Then mounted on my PC... and they also don't show.
What could of happened to cause this.... I wouldn't normally care but I lost a lot of pics of my kids... that spanned 3+ years that weren't all backed up. Any help on the snowballs chance in hell of recovering this would be appreciated.... but at the very least any reasonable explanation as to why this may have happened would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You could try pulling the sd card out, putting it in the computer directly, and then using a data restore or undelete app. As long as the sectors haven't been rewritten, they should be recoverable.
Also, this may help for the future. I use my phone to capture my kids as well. What I've been doing is using the auto upload features in both Google+ and DropBox, to back pics up in replicate. Sucks for bandwidth and battery usage, but it is what is is. lol
Hope you get them back!

Unfortunately, I don't think that one's doable with the way the device mounts. You may be able to mount it as a drive via recovery, but I'm not sure.
Edit: Just noticed your other post. You're asking the right thing. Hope you get an answer. If CWM doesn't have it, you could try TWRP.

Recova is what i used on the SD card and worked perfectly.
Also, i flashed TWRP... and the option isnt there either, so i will assume that its not possible on our phone yet... so for now im screwed...
am afraid to install any new programs or files, in fear of losing my more current pics, which were internally.
That happened to me too, but i am using the GS2 Tmobile, after flashing cm 9 nightlybuild. but my picture on my sd card, so i guess will use recova.
Thanks and hope you get your pictures recovered.

It sucks that you lost quite a few pictures that mean a lot to you. I do see sincerely hope that you now understand the importance of backing up these important files. This really goes for everyone. Keep important files backed up in at least one other place, and keep it up to date. Most people don't start doing backups until they've lost something that's irreplaceable.
Is there a way to save shots from Best Shot / Burst Shot onto the external SD card? I find it annoying having to transfer the photos from internal to external...
Thanks in advance.
I'm also looking for something like this
That is because generally the memory cards are less. So you can't write it so quickly to them.
A normal user can't determine whether his card is good enough or not. So samsung decided to leave it out.

I'm not asking why this is happening. I'm asking if there's a way around it.
Use Directory bind
Then bind DCIM folder. Then you need not to select ext sd card for single shot too. Whatever you will capture, it will save to ext sd, though camera understand it is in internal memory.

Look at the pictures I attach. The Samsung entry takes up a lot of space. Is this something I can safely delete? What is it by the way?

I think it's dropbox syncing files to your phone, though not 100% sure.

The sky service in settings? There you can sync Dropbox to phone.

Yes. If you have it turned on, and there's no other dropbox entry in storage overview, that's most likely it. Delete the cloudagent folder in /sdcard and see if it's gone.

Use a file manager (or browse from your PC) and look what it contains. It could be files that are synchronized via Samsung Kies. By default the "Samsung" folder is around 102 MB only. It contains a video file, a music files and some images for wallpaper.

Hi,
Why not move them to your external sd? This way you can save your internal sd space. Please note that the free space for internal sd and sdcard partitions are shared.

Hi,
What I meant is the free space for internal (hidden partition where the apps are installed) and the sdcard position are shared. Not the external sd.

Whatever you do, you won't be able to use more than 10.46 GB of data. Even if you switch to an aosp ROM which is less than 1/3 the size of touchwiz ROM , you will still only be able to use 10.46 GB.
Some apps showing 11.2 GB including titanium backup is the same as only 14gb usable out of 16gb usable. You can multiply 11.2 x 1000^3 and divide it by 1024^3 and get roughly 10.46
Resizing partitions is a different case.
