[Q] What's the difference between.. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The "Note 2 Original android development" and "Note 2 android development" subforums? I tried searching but didn't find it.

Original means you developed from scratch with unique features etc. .. Just copying a Samsung copy and changing certain things won't lead to it being an original. If you notice it's mostly kernels and non sammy roms.

[Q] Android Develeopment Vs. Original Android Development?

I noticed there are two separate forums for Android development for the Note II.
Why is that? What does 'Original Android' mean in this context?
I have frequented other device forums but have not come across these two separate forums for any device (that I have used).
From what I've seen that refers to original rooms and mods built for/from the note 2 as opposed to ports from other devices

I believe the android development section is meant for stuff based on the Samsung software, where original android development is meant for the stuff that isn't based on the Samsung software, like cyanogenmod.

The thing is,what ever you create from scratch goes into original android Dev section while whatever you develop my modifying existing source/code goes into android development
For example:cyanogen mod being build from scratch and a kernel build from scratch goes into original android dev section while custom roms depending on Sammy stock roms cm sources or kernels depending already existing custom kernel sources goes into android development

Thanks for the replies guys!
I guess its a new thing XDA is implementing since other devices (that I have owned) do not have this distinction; all the ROMS are released under one forum.

Actually, this is a practice that has been going on for a year or so, it started with the Samsung S2, and spread to other popular devices.

Stock Android ROM?

Any ROM for this device I find still has Samsungs Touch interface overlay on it, such as Jelly Bomb. Is there a Cyanogenmod like ROM out there for our cdma phone? When will Cyanogenmod begin to support the cdma version of the note?

Wrong section bud... And there aren't any aosp roms yet... Just be patient I'm sure some will emerge with time as the device is still relatively new

Nothing at all like that. The exact opposite of that as a matter of fact.

At least this could have been posted in original Android development .... come on use your head ....

I'd guess that any pure AOSP based ROM would need to somehow support the Samsung S-pen capabilities and be made to co-exist with the Samsung system S-pen capabilities software "blob", or do away with the S-pen capabilities altogether?
AOSP is open source ... enhancements to it may or may not be. If it helps Samsung in their patent fight with Apple to prove how they've added their own differentiated technology to smart phones, should they make it open source and let Apple have it as well?

There are loads of ROMs to choose from Taylorcox75.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ROMs.
(They all lead back to here at XDA and you will need to read the forum threads carefully. Hopefully the thread screenshots might give you an idea of what you're looking for.)
Should I come back and find this post still in the dev section tomorrow, this space will be filled with Russian Nyan Cat.
You have been warned.

[Q] different between "Original Development" to Development

What is the different between these 2 threads? :
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 Original Android Development
The items in the original development section are based on aosp.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Not really just because they're AOSP.

So, as one who come from Xperia where I can find better roms and news, in the original development (aosp) or in development thread?

It all depends on what you're looking for. Both sections have great ROM.
☞Sent from here☜
Check out BOTH areas because you will sell yourself short if you don't. Also some i9505 roms work with tmobile m919 so check out that too. I'm currently running a i9505 rom as my daily on my m919. Its called bobcat.i really like it. Check it out if you like themed roms. But do try these places mentioned and don't stick with just one area. So many great roms. Have fun

What is the difference between these forums

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between HTC One Android Development and HTC One Original Android Development. This has bugged me since I got my One...
Original development, just as in the name, is usually for original projects. Not really ports or already made roms just ported to the device. Usually you'll find the aosp and cyanogenmod roms specifically in the ogd forum while modded stock roms are usually in the standard development forums.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
That is kind of what I was thinking based on thread contents. AOSP in one, sense in the other... Thanks for the info!

AOSP Roms that support Google Wallet

Are there any roms for the tmobile note 3 that support google wallet?
There are no note 3 aosp roms. which would be obvious to you if you did a lil searching. Fyi, questions go in the q & a thread since they're questions and not Android development

My apologies as I have previously stated I thought I was on the page. Also I did search and didn't find anything that's why I asked!!!!
Any reason why we don't have any asop Roms yet? I've been in the xda community for years and have owned several phones including a few Samsung's and its never taken this long for asop Roms to appear.
