What is the Best Rom For Performance?
Taking into account a combination of kernels and drivers, which rom has higher processing performance?

IMO
Well it depends on a lot of factors and what is important to you:
Best overall performance - cm10.1 with stock kernel. But games will feel sluggish but system performance is fantastic.
Best gaming performance - stock ICS any based on v20f.
Best battery performance - cm10.1 + wind kernel or any of the v20 stock ICS + wind kernel.
Best stability performance: Gingerbread - there are phones out there that for what ever reason start have reboot issues with stock ICS or cm10.x but if yours isn't one of the few with these issues stock ICS any v20.
Overclocking will always impact these but stability may suffer along with battery life and longevity of the phone.

For Gaming Use With The Wind Stock Rom Kernel + ICS ICS Adreno Drivers + Overclock Using em 1.62 Who Will I be a good performance?
The highest benchmarks on Antutu I have ever gotten was with HO!NO!'s Full Throttle CM9. For the longest time this was the ONLY stable custom ROM for the Nitro and to this day, it still in the top 3 for many categories (stability, performance, benchmarks, battery life).
I've tried the stock V20f ROMs, latest CM10.1, PAC-ROM, and ran them all with stock and Wind kernel. The highest Antutu score I got outside of HO!NO!'s CM9 was about 6,000. On HO!NO!'s CM9 I regularly approach 9,000 after slimming the ROM down.

I agree with you when it came to that benchmark. However that doesn't translate into real world performance. When it comes to battery life the combination of wind/cm10.1 blows the doors off of full throttle.
I think the use of benchmarks as a measure of performance either on a computer or a phone will ALWAYS lead people into making bad decisions. For example the ROM that does the worst in gaming benchmarks stock ICS v20f gives you the best gaming performance. Go figure.

I am running AOKPMS3 ROM,
I decided to install The Franco Kernel, and after a reboot, it felt like my gnex transformed into a Ferrari. These kernels are DAMN fast compared to the AOKP MS 3/STOCK kernel.. or is it just me?
I am feling like my phone is now twice as fast, only with this kernel 3.0.18.
its not just you. its fast
Great battery life as well if you handle your apps and settings correctly.
Same here. Benchmarks with Franco.kernel eave stock behind and battery life is also much better.
I wonder why anyone with a rooted Nexus would keep the stock kernel?

Its you.
Custom kernels fly...at benchmarks. Real world performance is minimal. A fresh boot == more performance increase than a custom kernel.
Custom kernel == initial adding of features, and 213213213213 updates fixing the bugs created.
What version of his kernal are you all using? I tried one of his nightlies and it refused to go into deep sleep. Haven't tried another one since. Been pretty happy with kag bang for a few days now but I am always looking for another thing to flash.

I actually get the best performance with the stock kernel. 6400 on Antutu.
Hi.. Maybe inapropriate topic but :
According to your experience, which one is better kernel in global ?
For battery and global ?
I hope that kernel devs of both kernels are not insulted with this topic.
Thanks in advacne
In MY experience Franco gave me the most battery life and stability. My phone loves Franco(CDMA). Ones not better then the other. Just depends which one your phone loves better.
Actually i love both kernels and changing them time after time. While Franco kernel feels a bit snappier, Trinity gives me better battery life and seems to be a bit more stable.
IMO both kernels are great but I prefer faux123's kernel.
I prefer trinity over any other kernel out there.
best performance and battery life for me
btw I'm using the one with 1382 cpu, 512 gpu for cm9 kang(any kernel).

I see that some rom developers are currently changing from the darkside kernel to the synergy kernel. I know that synergy has better battery life than Darkside X kernel (or that it should) since Darkside X is much faster and smoother.
1. But is the battery life of Darkside X kernel significantly lower or just a little lower than the synergy kernel?
2. Also, what are some features that the synergy kernel offers that the Darkside X kernel doesn't, and vice versa?
Thanks!

Bro i read somewhere before NEVER COMPARE TWO ROMS OR KARNELS OF TWO DIFFERENT DEVS . ITS JUST AN INSULT OF THEM.THEY ARE GOOD ON THEIR OWN WAY .
Not being mean rude but telling you truth i have learn.

neither is better than the other. One gives you better battery life while the other gives you better performance. Its a trade off. both are good in there own way. I just want to know if there are features one has that the other doesn't. And does synergy beat darkside in battery life by a lot or a little.
Bump

Generally speaking your mileage will vary with everything. ROMs, kernels, whatever. I personally get better battery life with darksidex and smoother performance with synergy. Most of it is probably placebo either way.
Flash and find out every phone is different.
synergy supports almost every governor. this only will matter to you if you know what a governor is...
darkside is more noob friendly. also, if u are running a darkside rom, do not use a diff kernel.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
u can use any kernel on any rom, (CM7 excluded). As others have said different kernels support different things, and may or may not be better for u given your needs. If u stress battery life, governor options in synergy will help u with that, finding the best balance between scaling and performance. Dark side may be better for gaming. All comes down to user preference
Synergy doesn't have all the sophisticated bells and whistles like swapping cache and page serving stow away performance like DS or any kernel with ram appreciating software. So to speak it's software for better page cruising experience.

I appreciate that 'best' is highly subjective, but is there any consencus as to what is the best ICS ROM for the Arc S?
For me, 'best' = fast, stable and good battery. Removing the junk apps is good (but I can do it myself) and any extra features that improve the usability / functionality are good. Also, as far as I know, I don't want a MIUI ROM (I want my Android phone to feel like Android and not an IPhone!).
I thank you!
Go for the Mooded ICS or Arconium ICS!

There's no real 'best' rom as what you may call a satisfactory balance for battery life/speed may not suit someone else. For better battery life then probably a stock based rom, for better performance then cm9 or AOKP, for theming then MIUI. Plus, the kernel you use, sysctl settings, overclocking, build.prop tweaks etc., and generally how you use your phone will have a say on battery life.

You need to be more specific then that~
Expanding on sinkster's posts. Stock based ROM's are more complete, unlike cyanogenmod (broken camcorder), but i guess its performance makes up for this.
Plus if you feel the miui 'looks like an iphone' then i suggest changing your launcher
and/or themes.
JJ's AOSP or MoOdEd ics. Both ROMs are fast and stable. im currently on JJ's ROM (3.0b)
I am currently on AOKP and its very nice lol.
My vote goes to JJ`s Hybrid Rom
Mooded ICS for me did not worked at all (kernel doomlord v04).
Now, all of them have bugs, an the best choice is that ROM that have less bugs and less "not working" in change log or description. I have found that ROM to be JJ`sHybrid ROM (curently i`m running 3.0b Test release and before that v2.2). I`m very pleased with JJdoctor Rom, everithing works very well , baterry life is much better (comparing to stock ROM 2.3.4 Gingerbread) and excelent gaming performance.
Optimum CPU settings tested by me :
Min freq. : 134 MHz
Max freq. : 1210 MHz
Governor : smartassv2
I/O : noop
Just want to know why some of you use Faux kernel. It seems to be the most mentioned one , at least from what i've read so far.
On the latest base roms, is it more battery as well as performance efficient in your opinion? Any other reasons you use it?
I've only had faux kernel on my HoX for not even a day so far so it's hard for me to be the judge and i'm interested. Thanks
With Faux's kernel you'll have better performances than stock kernel, but stock has better stability and battery life.
It's because faux's kernel has the latest nVidia drivers for Tegra 3, as well as a GPU overclock for better gaming performance I've been using faux lately, and still testing battery usage on normal daily usage.
