Installation aborted (while flashing Custom Rom) - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my phone using EAR tool, now I want to flash Custom Rom..I downloaded Jelly time, I did full wipe and than when I chose zip from sdcard which I want to install (jellytime) installation process started and than appeared
E:Cant't open /sdcard/name_of_rom.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
I'm realy sure that i did everything fine...I have CWM 5.8 ...Please help me, I'm affread that I brick my device..
PS. I did NaNdroid backup...Can I just restore my old ROM?
EDIT:
I reboot system because i wanted to try to flash custom rom again..Now just white screen and "HTC", it wont boot in CWM or bootloader..How I can boot into cwm now?? Maybe to remove battery?
EDIT:
Okay, now I'm in CWM again..but still "(bad) installation aborted"
EDIT:
Then I tryed to restore...It was written that restore was done, but now I reboot and five minutes just white screen and "HTC"...Is it normal that?
EDIT:
Still cant start.. (10 min after I reboot).. I bricked phone?
EDIT
So, this is my situation...I have acess to bootloader and CWM only..If I try to flash custom rom (JellyTime) appears:
E:Cant't open /sdcard/name_of_rom.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
And after that I try to restore nandroid backup...CWM sad that restore is complete done, but when I reboot just splash screen (I wait 20 min and at the end I pull battery..)
I would rather restore backup, but why I cant do that? ..
ANYONE TO HELP?!

My sd card is 8gb, but what matthers size of sd card with all process of flashing custom rom? I think my only option is to download new custom rom, place it on sd card and try flashing again...
And about nandroid backup..For me very strange is that cwm sad "restore completed", and there isnt any error in restoring process but when reboot splash screen...

Looks like the download might be corrupt. Try a new ROM. Also, don't forget to flash the boot.img from fastboot after you flash the ROM from recovery. Not sure what's going on with your nandroid, though; you shouldn't need to reflash the boot.img when restoring a nandroid. When did you make the nandroid?

I think it is not corrupt, because I downloaded it from here: http://jellytime.googlecode.com/files/cm-JellyTime_42_R11.zip
I will not forget to flash the boot.img but I can't flash ROM from cwm!! I make a nandroid before anything today...
What I have to do now? I think this is hard brick...
PS. Maybe to click in CWM: "Apply /scdard/update.zip" ... What that will do??

Doesn't matter where you got it from, it can still be corrupt...
You need to check the md5 check sum, your zip source should have it listed. An easier way is to simply open the zip file in a zip file viewer.

What does hboot say? What does the ROM zip have in it when you unzip it? Have you tried another ROM like I recommended? And please only bump once every 24 hours under XDA rules.

I don't know how many times I can say this: try another ROM. I don't use JellyTime so I can't confirm that the ROM or the version is not the problem. Or you could relock and run a RUU to return to stock. Or you could flash another recovery like 4ext and see if that helps.
If none of those options work, your phone is probably hosed. As far as I know, there is no ODIN; this is not a Samsung phone.

Ace Think Tank has guides.

Okay.. I want to try that procedure with locking bootloader and runnig RUU..
As I know, first I relock bootloader using Eacy Ace Hack tool, is it?
And than if that works, just download RUU, double click, follow the instructions and than I'm on the stock again?
P.S. Is this last stock for the dhd:

With s-on, you should flash roms via fastboot. I believe you need s-off before you can flash via cwm or 4ext.

I don't think the radio would cause this issue. I would suggest that you go through the guide to get s-off and install 4ext.
I went through the guide with my DHD and haven't had any problems installing custom roms, creating backups, and restoring backups.

[SOLVED] Semi Bricked HTC Desire - Need help

Hello guys, I have a major problem on my HTC Desire. Most of it is my fault but please try to help out here and not judge me... :/
I use Miuimod. I had the 1.8.1 version and I went to install 2.1. The thing is that (for the first time!!!) I didn't check the last page of thread to find out that Miuimod 2.1 for Desire a major bug that forces an endless reboot.
And that's not all... Don't ask me why but.. I didn't make a NANDroid backup... :/ I was in a hurry and I didn't check the button from ROM Manager menu.
Also for a reason, I cannot boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. I only have hboot. Hboot lets you install a ROM only with the name update.zip. But even though I have renamed the last OpenDesire ROM as update.zip, it won't install it cause it doesn't have the proper signature.
So I'm kinda stuck with a semi bricked HTC Desire. Any suggestions?
(And just for the record, yeah, lesson learned... )
Are you s-off? If so, just flash a new recovery image through fastboot.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Wrong forum, Q/A should be right...
Try flashing clockwork over fastboot:
"fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img"
Put your SD in your computer and copy a ROM.zip on it, than flash as usual ?
Why why why??
What have you learnt from this mistake? Yes, ALWAYS install a custom recovery. Saves you this kind of trouble.
Okay I'm of no help, but I just wanted to tell.
@markuz85 No I'm s-on. In order to change to s-off I need to boot into device (right?).
@westernmg I'm trying to but adb shows no devices and I'm kinda stuck there.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance...
Try to pull out the battery and wait a few seconds then power on the phone again and press power+vol- and select recovery. If this don't work try to reflash an official htc desire rom renamed in update.zip from hboot.
Thanks for the answer. Can't find an official rom though. Can you point me at one?
@9600pro87 I did what you said but still nothing...

It doesn't work. I get error [170] "Cannot connect to phone.." etc. Is it that I have changed the Radio?

Fortunately I solved the problem. This is what I did:
I basicaly rerooted my phone using Modaco's method. So when finished I had the default ROM again. Thank you all for your help!
Good that you solved the issue. But just so you know, that method of rooting is outdated. Rooting does not need downgrading, as of current hboots

[Q] Won't boot after RUU flash from Revolutionary

I have been searching for two days and have not found a solution!
My CID is HTC__001
I did have Revolutionary installed (phone from eBay) but I decided to go to stock (thought I'd try it before the modding, need to install ICS for a project I'm working on) so I used "bravo_downgrade" (using Fastboot) and then used the latest RUU(RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed) to flash it.
My current state is: S-ON, HBOOT-0.93.0001, RADIO-5.11.05.27
Phone won't boot, when flashed from SD it just reboot looped and now it just hangs on the HTC screen.
I have tried different ROMs and using an SD card OTA ZIP file numerous times.
Thanks!

I seem to be having a problem flashing the stock + rooted rom.

I have also tried a stock unrooted copy which didnt work either. I am pretty sure i use to be able to flash it(many months ago).
I believe i can still flash sum custom roms (just formated the newest leedroid rom) but stock is being a ***** to install.
I want to go back to stock as I feel my gps was more accurate under stock
Any ideas?
Im using a unbranded UK desire HD with AHK Clockwork Recovery v4.0.1.4. i did wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and even wipe Dalvik
Any questions just ask
You don't have to flash stock rom from recovery like custom roms or nandroid backups.
Run stock RUU.exe or flash the rom from bootloader if in PG58IMG format if you want to go back to complete stock rom.
You can download RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_R_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_233505_signed form HERE

Hey mate, maybe u can help me out a little. I need to flash back to stock, vodafone au branded for warrenty purposes. if I used above would I still be rooted and s-off, and can all the Vodafone bloat be flashed afterwards. just weighing if the above link is any easy option then flashing rom, then radio, reverse s off, root, etc etc etc.....etc.?
The link I gave is for stock unbranded WWE (world wide english) RUU. No idea where you can find Vodafone AU, sorry.
Running the RUU.exe will unroot your device but s-off remains. Also it deletes all apps and data.
Conclusion: it will be as out of the box but S-Off.

Hi, are u asking me? If so here u go.
1- S-OFF. Don't think I'm eng s-off.
2- boot loader reads as follows:
Ace PVT Ship S-off RL
Hboot 0.85.0024
Microphone 0438
Radio 26.10.04.03_m
eMMC-boot
3- advance ace hack kit is how I rooted my device...?
4- clockwork mod recovery touch 5.8
5- Vodafone branded phone originally, with all the crap
6-original ruu unknown? But the rom I can't install is titled:
Ace_Vodafone_AU_1.32.178.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M_BACKUP
Its a zip file which I've tried to install from recovery as a zip(error message 'install aborted')and also restore after extracting to cwm/backup (error message md5 mismatch)
I'm completely lost.
Install 4ext recovery, if I'm not mistaken it has an option to ignore md5 mismatches.
Edit - just checked and it does, its in the recovery settings

Alright, well I installed 4ext, disabled md5 check. All that happened when it restored (finished in only 3secs)was rebooted with a freshly wiped copy of the rom I've been using-cookies & cream ics.
It seems like the file is empty, though I've explored its content and all seems intact. Its about the 5th download of the rom too, so unlikely a bad dl. Someone installed it successfully by deleting nandroid. md5, then using the md5 sum recreate it as md5sum*img > nandroid.md5... Don't know how or what this means
I believe they are talking about this. In the app go to recovery >manage backups. Choose the file then click correct md5 sum

-Alright well I got the md5 sorted, and installed the rom. Now I have a blackscreen... It appears nothing has changed. the green htc letters slowly fade to white lines then to black, thats about it. Still got 4ext so I can restore, but this is a pain in the rectum.
I'm restoring it again and it reads its restoring: boot system data cache. In the process, .android_secure not found...Should be alright?

I thought about that. You won't be able to fully be on your stock firmware but it might be close enough for warranty purposes.
So here is my thinking. Flash the 1.32.405 ruu. Next flash your stock radio that came with your carrier via a pd98. Then root with visionary and use jkoljos easy radio tool to flash back your cid and get back son. Finally unroot with visionary and remove any traces of root like super user. I think that's as close as well be able to get if the nandroid doesn't work

Bootloop on Desire HD

Hi Peeps. Appreciate any help here.

Was able to boot to HBoot and shows me this screen. I will type it out as I have no access to camera for now.

Have you fastboot flashed a recovery?
Firstly. is there anything to make it S-OFF? Couldn't find a method that works. Most of it I found requires to boot into Android which is impossible for my case.
Also tried to put PD98IMG.zip in SD card to flash it, but give CID incorrect error.

You are s-on. You have to flash the boot.img using fastboot after installing the rom.

Knowing what the error was would be helpful. Of you want S-Off you need to relock and do it manually.

I will try my best to explain cause I have no idea what's happening...
1. used fastboot using CMD to flash CWM to recovery. Error: signature verify fail.
2. Tried RUU.exe to flash. Simply says the update could not be completed.
Is there any thing I could do with Hboot or Fastboot that could revive the phone? I think I tried almost all methods... unless there is other ways that I have not tried...

Are you unlocked? Exactly what command did you use to flash? Are you drivers properly installed (HTC Sync with phone unplugged)? Did you flash from the folder containing your recovery.img?

1. I'm on s-on. Does it matters?
2. Bootloader should be unlocked after flashing the unlock.bin from htcdev.com. I saw the *** UNLOCK *** when I go into HBOOT.
3. Command I used was *fastboot flash recovery recover.img*. The recover.img is actually the CWM recovery.
4. HTC Sync is installed.
4. Yes i did. It gave me FAILED status. Error: Signature verify error.
I will try to snapshot whatever process I did to make my explanation clearer later part of the day.
Make sure the file name is correct of the recovery.img file
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Signature check is failing or the .img file is flaw (try downloading again) or your bootloader is not unlocked in its whole. That happens from time to time. Try using this recovery image (touch CWM):

lost backup stock rom

I've been trying to install a custom rom on my hox and have had very little luck. I read that to install the CM10.1 rom I had to flash a new boot.img which I did successfully. when I tried to install the rom I got a different error than usual so I decided to just give up. I went ahead and did a factory reset from CWM and cleared the caches and then tried to restore my backup rom image. but when I did, it gave me an error "unable to mount sd". I was able to fix the SD problem but the method I used made me return to stock recovery and then install TWRP. This means I lost my backup of the stock rom.
I think I need to flash a stock boot.img over the one I tried to use for CM10.1 but I'm not sure.
hopefully someone can help. thanks.

Can you tell us the exact steps you used to flash the boot image and ROM? What error did the ROM flashing give?

to flash the boot image, I extracted the rom zip file and removed the boot image. I went into the cmd and typed "flashboot flash boot boot.img".
to flash the rom, I moved the roms zip file onto the storage of the device (drag and drop) and then went into CWM and cleared the caches, did a factory reset, and then selected the zip file to be installed.
here is a picture of the error I got when I tried to install the rom: see attachment
the error is on the second line of code in the updater-script file. other attempts to install the rom gave me an error on the first line until I read that the first line had to be deleted for it to work on the hox.
May be an issue with CWM. Have a read here...... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250785

CWM might be the reason the rom installation was aborted but I just want to return to stock. the stock rom is installed, I think the only problem is that the boot image is wrong. I searched around and can't find a stock boot image. I saw some tutorials on using RUU to do a restore but it seems a lot more complicated than just flashing the stock boot image. if you think RUU is the best method, please help me pick the correct RUU.

May be it's a bad download? Download the CM rom zip again and then try to flash it! Use the latest Philz touch recovery...
1. Flash boot.img and then fastboot erase cache
2. Go to recovery and wipe everything
3. flash the rom.zip/gapps.zip and reboot!
If you still want a RUU, then post the result of fastboot getvar version-main

I think I'm just going to RUU. I google searched the hboot and radio numbers from my phone and found a thread where someone had the exact same numbers so I think it makes sense to use the same RUU. here is the info for my phone:
EVITA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.14.0002
RADIO-0.19as.32.09.11_2
OpenDSP-v29.1.0.45.0622
eMMC-boot
I tried using the 'fastboot getvar version-main' command it doesn't give me a number, it only says "version-main: " which is weird.
anyway the ruu I'm considering is called: "RUU_EVITA_UL_ICS_40_S_Cingular_US_2.20.502.7_Radio_0.19as.32.09.11_2_10.105.32.25L_release_271865_signed"
will that work? I think I will forever brick my phone if I use the wrong one.
try fastboot getvar all

Hi
Try connecting your HTC One X to your computer with an USB-cable and then access it, and go and look for a map called CWM, or ClockwordMod. Open it, and then open Backup.
Are you able to find it there? If not, please let me know.

And then....you are going to accompany him to the HTC one XL forum ?
He has no business here, flashing stuff from here may end in a proper bricked phone.
Oh, well I'm sorry. But it's his fault that he almost bricked his device bij placing this in the wrong Subtab ;p Don't blame on me!
