[Q] S4 Screen mirroring using a TV streamer? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have a brand new panasonic TV streamer that does miracast and DLNA, and also a roku. I want to be able to mirror my S4 to one of those devices, but I cant seem to make it work. I know youre supposed to buy the samsung dongle but that seems like a waste of money. I CAN use an app called 'Beam' that will let me choose online videos from youtube, vimeo, or any other website and stream them to my panasonic TV streamer or roku. So I know the S4 can see and stream content to both devices, but I want to be able to stream my entire phone and not just videos. Does anyone have any idea of how I would be able to do this? I am rooted. I would VERY much appreciate any help.

But I obviously havent tried yet, so if you do have it working id love to know!

yes It does and not one thing on it that helps. Im leaning towards the modem settings
Looks neat this thing. The Wifi sharing of the galaxy s3 screen sounds nice.. till I learned atm no JB support? No HD game support it seems.
Galaxy s3 wifi connectivity to LG LM 7600
I am trying to share my mobile screen (Note: not to view picture or movies like in iMediashare), the entire screen.
When i use Wi-fi direct i am able to link TV and mobile, but i dont know how to share mobile screen in TV
When i choose Allplay cast, TV is able to recognize the mobile(Mobile scanning does not show TV) and able to send connection request from TV, I am able to accept the request in mobile but not able to share the screen in TV
If any one have done screen sharing from S3 to LG smart TV could you please share
If you're waiting for the AllShare hub to get under $50 and live in the US, you can register your phone through the Samsung website and they email you a 50% off mobile accessories coupon.

This! I got an email from samsung about this and after I registered I got the discount code via email. Sucks I just bought the hub on amazon for $72 like a week ago too. Maybe I can still return it.
To the OP, ya anything Allshare is samsung proprietary so you have to use wifi direct to output video, picture, and music to your LG. I had the same TV and wifi direct works better than allshare play which takes way too long to connect and sometimes doesnt connect so you have to keep going at it. I have a samsung tv too which I kept rather than replacing it with the LG.
But the allshare cast hub can mirror your phone and will work on any TV so I went with that instead just incase I upgrade my TV with another brand.

About Allshare Cast Dongle

Has someone tried "Allshare cast wireless dongle" with our device.. I googled about this, found all the material about wireless dongle just for Sgs3.

Does the AllShare Cast Hub really work as well as a direct HDMI connection (MHL dongle)? I think the capability looks awesome, but I'd be worried about it being glitchy or laggy. My main interest would be to watch movies.
What resolutions does it support? Surround Sound?

I bought It from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089VO7MY/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
A lot of them are sellers from the U.S though, there are a couple from the U.K also. Just google it til you find one india.
I bought mine from a third party vendor on Amazon last Friday, came tonight
Works pretty well, although I'd say up to 200 ms lag from action to HDTV display update. Videos play fine for the most part, but I did notice some artifacts for some HD videos. (EDIT: disabling mobile optimization in the allshare app reduces artifacts to the point where it's hard to find them now)
I did notice that I cannot use Multiscreen while connected. The option is just grayed out. I am guessing that system performance drops enough that multiscreen won't work well enough while connected.
I should also add that you will get artifacts if you run a more intensive program. If you are looking for a lag-free and crystal clear all-the-time experience then a physical HDMI connection is more what you want.

As I found out when I went out and bought a Samsung bluray to do this, allshare cast is different then allshare play. I didn't make the distinction when I wanted to do this. As such I didn't find any allshare cast capable blurray players. They were all share play which as far as I could tell doesn't allow mirroring.

ok. Thanks.
I did some analysis as well...
so,
AllShare Play = DLNA over wifi
AllShare Cast = Miracast/WiDi
Most TV's and blueray players will not support AllShare Cast, as WiDi is not there.
If Samsung Allshare Cast is compatible with WiDi/Miracast, then it may be cheaper to buy something like Netgear Push2TV instead.
Can someone who has both WiDi Laptop and Samsung allshare Cast, confirm that they can mirror laptop display on TV using AllShare Cast as well?
Right but you bought an Allshare Cast hub/dongle whatever. From my research the Allshare Cast isn't offered on bluray players. Just Allshare Play which is different. It doesn't allow mirroring. Just using Allshare as a general catchall is misleading.

Confirmed that our galaxy note 10.1 tablet supports Miracast.
Source: http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/19/wi...certification-just-dont-expect-apple-to-play/
Quote:
“As a leader in N-screen technology, Samsung has introduced AllShare Cast (based on Miracast), which is incorporated into most of Samsung’s high-end smart mobile devices including the GALAXY S III, GALAXY Note 10.1, and GALAXY Note II, ” said Hankil Yoon, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy Team, Samsung’s Mobile Communication Business. “We will continue to support the program, and plan to offer more Miracast-certified devices to our customers going forward.”
So folks having netgear Push2TV.. can you confirm that you can mirror display of your tablet using that as well?

Vids/pics/music on XBOX

Surprised no one has talked about this at all. Anyway, happened to be watching Netflix on my XBOX last night, and while doing so, was checking out some pictures on my phone. Saw a button I never seen before that kind of looked like a little computer screen with 3 lines kind of going through it. I guess it said something like "view on another player". This apparently being the first time I was using my S3 and XBOX at the same time. So I press the button, and it stops my movie, and shows my picture on my TV!
Did some fooling around. As long as I'm using a stock music, video, or gallery app, and the file is on the phone itself, it will stream through my XBOX at the touch of a button. The free Avengers movie in Media Hub didn't work, Netflix didn't work. USB transferred an episode of Hell on Wheels over to the phone, it asked if I wanted to convert it to assure it would work on the phone and said yes, tried it out and it worked pretty good. I can only imagine how nice it would have looked if I hadn't converted it, going to try later and see.
Was just curious if anyone else has used this feature at all? Seems pretty cool to me.
I think that's DLNA.

The TV has nothing to do with it, it's going through my XBOX. It was just crazy to me because I've never been able to link my XBOX and computer properly, and I can see my computer in the gallery app sometimes but I can never see any files. I did happen to start a test on my battery while having basically everything running and all options available, so I have activated some options I normally don't use. I think one night I tried messing with the settings on my XBOX to get it to show my phone since it comes up on my roomie's PS3 although I've never tried using this feature on that before. Since I don't use my XBOX a whole lot lately, and I imagine it's possible others don't use it at the same time, I thought I'd mention it.
aNYthing, is that exactly what DLNA is? because, if so, there's a lot of people going and buying that allshare hub thing that wouldn't need to if they have an XBOX or PS3. Obviously Samsung is not going to promote that! I don't have the DLNA share option being used so it never occurred to me that it could be using it. I guess I assumed DLNA was something that was used to go directly to the TV, which in my case, is not what's happening, and definitely not possible.

on the phone. XBOX was already playing a Netflix movie. Pressed it and it stopped the movie I was watching, and a few seconds later, it appeared on my TV. Swiped to another pic, and IT popped up. Watched a short video I took the other day, it looked GREAT! As I said, I'm not really sure what I changed or if I established a link between my S3 and XBOX before or not but hey, it was pretty damn cool to me, lol.

works great on my xbox. i'm sure the file has to be compatible but you probably won't get the other viewer option if it's not anyway.
My main purpose of this post was to find other people using the same feature and if they have any tips such as, what files will work for this or what apps can use it, etc.
had no idea i could do this until i saw this thread. thank you!
You have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi and it will work.

I made a tut on how to do this on the PS3 but it didn't seem too many people were interested in it. Simple though get a video converter and convert the movies to mp4 standard and don't let the phone convert it on transfer leave it the way it is and it will work no matter what, the phone sends everything by means of media player so any device that allows media server wifi conection will play from this device.

All share cast requires your tv to have screen mirroring or the all share dongle.
All share play shares with other devices.
Change player is your typical dlna where you can play on your tv.

Yea, I actually went and bought traingle away. That didn't seem to help. I've tried different ROMs and different modems and not having much luck... I actually just got a replacement as I broke my other one. This one has the same issue.
It's like it's almost there... just Android hangs up when making the connection.

I know this wasn't in reply to me. It is really the simple solution... but loses the wow effect of showing someone your phone screen on your HDTV wirelessly. I'd give anything to just to be able to try it out.
On another note...
Still haven't made any progress with my All Share Cast wifi hub, yet. I've tried complete stock pre-root from the factory (that's what I meant with my replacement...phone not the hub), custom roms and various modems. each time android settings seems to force close. This came straight from T-mobile.
Tried triangle away, as well. Each time I connect I get "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped."
The odd thing is, if I go back to look at AllShare Cast in settings, it shows I'm connected. However, it does not mirror and cannot receive any video I even try to share to it. The tv still thinks the hub is trying to connect.
I was so excited to use this too
edit: All ROMs I've used have been stock based (Wicked v7. Frosty's JB, and now XquiziT v40 with modem T999UVLEM)
Maybe play around with more modems tonight.
