This ROM is in the N7105 forum. I love it. TouchWiz with tablet/phablet mode. Any app floating windows and plenty of options to choose from with Aroma Installer. Just thought I would sharewhat I think is a great ROM and different from what we have in our forum.

In Aroma there are options for modem and kernel. Just check do not change for both and you will retain your current modem and kernel. After i set the ROM up i flashed the new Saberkernel. Just my preference. No mirror. Sorry download was slow for me also.

The speeds are about the same. That's about average for me on the south side of Chicago. I usually get about 20 -25 on the north side. Battery life is good also. I'm oc'd at 1.7 and gpu at 733. I will post a battery screenshot later.

rlee----I would seriously advise on not flashing v8 as that is for the 7100 from what I have read, the original link on this thread to the v1 works for our phones. Like I said I read through the forums that is linked to the original one on this thread and when you go to the thread for the v8 op Tmobile users are stating they don't have data etc on tmobile and they stated that the v1 from this thread link is for our devices as I wanted to install. But.... if you get it working fill me in I would be interested to run this, I installed the v1 and all is well and works good thus far.
Been using this rom, great concept, totally reversible to use in regular phone mode via built-in ui app switcher. There is a youtube on this something galaxynote2root
First time the rom would not boot - likely because of all the aroma options I chose. I wiped and reflashed again using mostly suggested options and it all went well. Will try saber kernel for o/c as the rom is a bit demanding at times.
can anyone post a mirror of v1? goo is taking upwards of 11 hours

thanks for the heads up, i flashed the V8 first and everything was working ok except for data, (i kept my tmobile mode). as long as u dont flash the included modem you should be ok (no bricking). so i then flashed the V1 and everything worked fine, except that i was experiencing some lag while scrolling through menus and websites, i tried flashing with different kernels as well but always got the lag. i flashed back to my DD for now. Moon looks promising but its not what im used too

How long did you wait? Usually, at least on my device when I flash a rom it could take several minutes to load. But as stated above if it takes over 5 min then do the steps.

Rather ask then break something, but running MJJz's blend 1.6 which is currnetly under FE22 but no cwm. I've been out of the flashing world since then (May) so a bit behind on the what/why. I'm looking at my windows VM with Odin which when I start shows
E4GT - FE22 Restore - Rooted. So can I get a 1-2 refresher.
I have the new MJ ROM which contains has the updated FF18, but can't install that (or any other ROM w/o a recovery).
So do I need a newer version of Odin, or do I simply run that, connect, and go? Time is getting more forgiving so I will have time to play a bit more often and keep up.

Well since you have asked something in wrong section, let me just answer it..
Use mobile odin to flash EL26 Kernel with CWM and then flash ANY rom you would like from the recovery.
You could use Sfhub's auto root package to flash EL26 kernel with CWM and then flash ANY rom you would like.

The problem, well since you asked, I used odin 1.85 and the stock el26 with CWM. Flashed, rebooted and the boot screen now has the model along with a nice yellow triangle. The good is that I was I did get into CWM (doing another nand backup) but I have some new ROM's to test, do I simply format and install? I will read up while I await the comical (yet deserved) comments or post in the q&a!
Regardless, you guys are great, so thanks!

Thats why I posted the 2 methods. Auto root package and mobile odin. They don't trigger that triangle. You can use usb jig or triangle away app to get rid of that ugly triangle.

Guys all of the Custom ROMS says 4.1.2 but my Android version is 4.0.4 if i flash any of those ROM will get problems?
will update the version automatically? or do i have to upgrade version before instlling a custom ROM with 4.1.2 version.
if so, how do i upgrade to 4.1.2 from 4.0.4?

Model Number
SGH-T989
Android Version
4.0.4
Baseband Version

Kernel
3.0.8
Build Number

You can just use a custom recovery to flash a 4.1.2 ROM, make sure you full wipe (in recovery do factory reset and wipe /system)
Before you do this make sure you back up any data you want to keep.

Most probably with a computer because any of his indicated phones can do that speed if their not LTE. Even our hercules can only do H+, 2 times the 3g speed in the USA T-Mo network, that is ~40Mb.

Says at the bottom he is on U of Chicago server. So it must have been a wifi connection and universities consistently have fantastic connections.
@OP
Look others have said this already but I'll reiterate. Dont worry about the version of the ROM. You can install a ROM with whatever android version and it will run so just choose one that you think will be stable and fast. The thing that you have to pay attention to is the google apps package you flash. Google apps are NOT included in almost all ROMs and have to be flashed separately, after the ROM is installed. Each version of android has a GApps package specifically for it and they will not work properly if they are mismatched. So it is very important that when you DL the GApps you pay attention to whether it is for 4.0.x or 4.1.x or 4.2

I am not responsible for anything you do with your device. Anything you or someone else flashes or modifies on your device or someone else's device is not my fault or responsibility to fix (or break).
What is this?
SGH-M919V_JB_Opensource.zip [MDB Version] compiled with the defconfig grabbed from May 7th OTA - M919UVUAMDL. You can grab the source like I did, from opensource.samsung.com. Defconfig was the only change, since CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_SETUID was already commented out from the source linked previously. Modules are also included from this kernel source, same link as previously as well.
Flash this if you want to have a non-SetUID restricted kernel compatible with the May 7th OTA - M919UVUAMDL and you don't want to flash the old boot.img which is done in my root thread.
Downloads

Instructions
Flash in the Custom Recovery of your choice.
If you aren't already rooted, flash a Root.zip such as SuperuSu by Chainfire or Superuser by Koush.
Reboot and enjoy.
Tested On
M919UVUAMDB
M919UVUAMDL
Be Advised
SDCard's using exFat will not work with this kernel.
Flasher updated, now will not remove all modules in system, but will just overwrite the ones made by Samsung Open Source. This way you don't need to flash exFat modules separately. You can still do so if you want.
The exFat kernel module is not open source and thus is not included in this. You can flash this to get exFat working if it is not..

I think our processor is slightly different (300 karit) even though they are both called snapdragon 600. I could be wrong.

Regardless, I am not going to be overclocking this device.
Someone else can, but I like the plastic not to melt off the back

I flashed it about an hour ago and it seems quite responsive (running Virgin 1.3). I did get a FC when I opened Settings once, but not the second time. I'll report back in a couple days or so of testing. Looking for battery life as well.

no. let your GE ROM boot first. then reboot to recovery and flash. wipe cache and dalvik cache.
it is compatible with any I9505 running a Google Play Edition build, including SGH-M919

I actually did flash it right after I flash the ROM and its working pretty well. I only problem I didnt like in the faux kernel was it doesnt connect to the computer and this kernel fixed it, so i like this kernel. thank you.

If I'm running the official GE ROM and this official kernel on my T-Mobile S4, do u think that I will get android updates the same time as the S4 Google Play Edition?

at the moment i don't think anyone has an official build except for the GPE phones. there is a full dump but i don't think it has been made Odin flashable yet. when this happens, then yes, i believe you will be able to.
That'll be the day

Last night I got 0.4%hr battery drain, 96.3% deep sleep, after 8 hours, with wifi on 24/7 and my VoIP app running (Sipdroid). This is on par with the best I've had to date. ROM is running quick and snappy so far with no problems at all.
More later.
Night #2 dropped to 0.3%hr drain with the same specs. Really nice kernel. No problems noted.
And night #3. Just for giggles I turned off my VoIP app and got 0.1%hr battery drain over 8 hours, and 99.4% deep sleep. Excellent.
Final post on this kernel.

I have not tried 4.3 a of yet, due to the current app restore/TB issues, etc. Still having fun with 4.2! Your rom is great.
Funny to think I could get about 33 days standby! LOL!

thanks. i never use TB. when i flash a new ROM, i make sure i'm at home on wifi so everything restores from the market on its own. takes me a few min or so to set my phone back up.
4.3, imo, is more polished now. the lock ring is fixed/centered, less TW stuff, and the kernel seems to be performing better (stock vs stock) to name a few things i've noticed.

What is the build version for the Android 4.3 VirginROM?
Sent from my GT-I9505G using xda premium
I just upgraded from galaxy s2 to an s3 and I absolutely love the new phone. So much faster than my old phone and the battery life is 10 times better.
I put more custom ROM's than I care to count on my old s2, but I'm thinking about keeping stock on this one, at least for now. At the moment I'm enjoying some of the different features that are new to me, such as S-beam and NFC. Will I lose these if I install new ROM? Do most of y'all run a custom ROM on your S3? I'm rooted and running Phil's recovery, which I love by the way.
Any tips for me?
Thanks in advance. :cyclops:
I ran a custom rom for a long long time. However, with the latest update I'm running stock rooted with xposed and wanam. Really seems to work for me. If you like a custom phone with the least amount of work, go with a rom. If you want to try and customize it (completely) yourself, leave it with a custom recovery and start installing....

I'm rooted with philz recovery rocking bilgerryans wicked x 4.4.2 custom ROM. And IMO I think its wonderful. I've had very few issues while running this ROM. If you decide to flash a custom ROM be sure to read up on what you're doing (not saying you don't know what you're doing) because if you're on the nd8 build there have been a lot of problems and bricked phones due to Knox. There are a lot of threads with great information on what to do and how to do it. Best of luck to you!!

As long as you stick with TouchWiz you'll keep those features.
Thanks

Wanam itself isn't a miracle cure, but it seems to have a few of the special tweaks that I look for. Everything else I can find thru custom apks. I try to keep in mind that any rom that I load is going to have "bloat", meaning stuff (no matter how cool) that I will never use or use once and get bored with....

I know how easy it is to screw your phone up flashing ROMs so I've been doing a lot of reading on flashing the s3. It took me a while to figure out rootin it with the update but I got it finally. I've been learning toward trying Wicked because it's one I never used on my s2. I think I've tested almost everyone out there at one time or another. Wicked looks just that, wicked.

I love tweaking my phone. Wanam looks like what I'm looking for until I decide to try out a rom. I've got titanium backup for gettin rid of the bloat. Just never sure which system apps are totally safe to uninstall but I'm sure a quick google search can help. I may decide to try out Wicked or a touchwiz rom later but for now I'm gonna play around with tweaking it myself. Thanks for the feedback.

This may be a good place to start;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913428
Keep in mind it's fairly old (but I still go back to it). Also, the great thing about TB is that I can freeze apps and continue running my phone. If I don't have any problems, I can (slowly) start to uninstall them...
Edit: oh, and have fun messing with that phone

Wicked X it is. I've been doing my research and everyone seems to love this rom. I'm hoping that I don't have any issues with MMS or data, but I'm sure there is a fix if I do run into that problem. I'm excited to try this one out!!!
Thanks for everyone's input. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
