I am new with rooting and modifying my phone.
I first root the phone, then install AOKP Task650 (Android 4.2.2) Kernel 3.4.49-Underwear and Version is "d2att (4.2.2 JDQ39) Build 6.24.2013
after that i install rom manager, google apps, and everything is working perfectly EXCEPT wifi.
it is very weird cause wifi Turn On/Off button is nor clicklable; it is there, but when i turn on it is transparent grey and after couple seconds, it become solid grey.
I searched and find that if i replace /system/bin "wpa_supplicant" with one on other sites, it might work, and it is not working?
I looked everywhere, either i am stupid and dont know how to find or there is a specific things to look; if you guys can help me it will be great.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Did you do a clean flash? That being: Factory reset, clear cache/dalvik and wipe system before flashing Task's AOKP + Gapps?
I'd suggest backing up your stuff, doing the above and my guess is that all will be well afterwards.

Have you wiped dalvik, if you haven't you should do it, even after a full wipe, it helps
Sounds more like an ISP problem. Can you connect to another website?
Also tried using a different radio?

I have this issue on RCMix and Insert Coin. The solution is very easy. Go into Market, select what you want to download. Exit Market. Go to 'Talk', press menu and select 'Sign Out'. Go back to Market and your download should start. Furthermore, go back to talk and you'll find that that works too, as if you hadn't logged out! I did get a freeze once when going back into Talk but it's been fine ever since and you only need to do this the once to cure the problem.
I got the same problem on v51,
Deleta data of
Google Checkout(Sometimes it's HTC checkout, still delete)
Talk
Market(cache as well)
and also the remaining apps with google in front of them(let the one with back up stay)
Reboot,
This worked for me
Hey wuts up all first on new here so I wanted to say hi and thanks for making such an awesome site possible! Anyways I'm having problems getting apps on the market like Google maps. It tells me my device is not compatible. I haven't done anything new from my knowledge. I'm running the cm7.2 nightly from xjackofall. It only happened with some apps. Can anyone help.
Try flashing the gapps.apk that can be found Here!
That should sort it out for you. Make sure you uninstall all the current google apps you have downloaded, such as google voice, maps, g+, gtalk and so on.
Good luck!
EDIT: Ok this link should work
thanks ill try that once i unbrick my my phone. i flashed a pc36img that i though would downgrade my hboot so i could get s off instead it locked bootloader and bricked it. ive unlocked boot loader again but it still wont let me into the recovery. any suggestions?
never mind i fixed it thanks for the help with the apps ima try that now.
I flashed the latest gapps but it didn't change anything. Any other ideas?
Could be an issue with build.prop maybe?
Well did you wipe everything before you flashed? I think the way you are wiping is not correct. Before you flash gapps u must full wipe, wipe dalvick cache and wipe cache. Then flash gapps. Also helps to be flashing on a fresh rom that doesn't have gapps included.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
So I wiped everything and started with a new rom. Everything worked great for a day for two then I went to download something from the market that same damn error popped up again. From what I understand the market can tell what type of device you are using is it possible that the data it is trying to access is corrupt in some way? If so what could be causing it to become corrupted. Granted I could be wrong about how market works I'm still learning.
Try going into apps and clearing data and cache.
Its working fine now and I did nothing. Idk my phones been acting crazy lately. It turns thing off and on by itself wifi 4g and mobile connectivity work intermittently. Lately when I turn my phone on the mobile network is off. right now the onlything working network wise is 3g so I have no idea what's going on.
I'm having the same problem.............Can't download Maps from the market.
I just flashed the new CM7.2
Can u give a specific list of GAPPS that needed to be uninstalled? Some of mine don't have the option to uninstall

First try wiping cache, dalvic cache and clear the market data restart and see if that fixes it. If that didn't work then you will probably have to do what ihugyou said and do a full wipe and reinstall gapps.
Have u changed your screen resolution? If so you can get this error.
On my VZW GNex I am running stock 4.1.1 JRO30O unlocked & rooted. Any time I install any ROM (& I have tried at least 10 ROMs) the data no longer works. I have a good signal, but all the bars & the 4g symbol are white & I cannot browse the web, etc. When I restore my backup, data works fine, then I install a different ROM & the data doesn't work. Restore then data works, install ROM then data doesn't work, etc.... I know the ROMs shouldn't effect the radios or data, at least as far as I understand, but something is happening & I just cannot figure it out. I have reinstalled the latest radios and even tried older versions with same results. Using cwm 6.0.1.0, I do a full data, cache & dalvik wipe, then install the ROM & it's gapps, if needed.
Yes, I have posted about this before, but I'm still trying to find the problem. I really have searched for the answer for quite a while, but have yet to find an answer, I'm not just trying to get someone else to fix my problem for me.

>>have you checked your APN settings?

I do not have APNs listed under Mobile Networks (only have Data Enabled, Data Roaming, Network Mode (LTE/CDMA) & System Select (Auto). I have checked the contents of /system/etc/apns-conf.xml before the ROM install and after and there is no change to the file.
1 - Have you tried just installing the ROM, and setting if data works before you restore any of your old settings (to rule out data corruption, or incompatible settings, etc).
2 - Is your device ID changing between ROMs? Titanium Backup should tell you, and let you restore your old ID.

From my working setup I do nothing but wipe data, cache then dalvik ... install ROM, then gapps if needed... reboot. I touch "continue" to activate & then cancel on Google setup prompts. My data bars never turn blue after a ROM install. Even when I go through Google setup by via wifi, after Google apps work, I turn off wifi & bars turn white. I don't do any TiB restores because data isn't working, so why bother? Even if I did, I'd never restore anything but apps, never system stuff. What do you mean by device I'd? MEID, IMEI, or what?
Also, it's not my location either. I have had same results trying at my house & at work, 5-6 miles apart. 2-4 bars at home & 3-4 bars at work.
Unless you sign into your account, you will never see blue bars, so that means nothing... The blue bars mean you have a secure connection to Google...
If you're not restoring anything, how do you know you have the right settings?
Have you tried just opening a browser and setting if you get data? Your comment about the blue bars makes me wonder...

I do sign in. As I said, I've tried both ways. I bypassed Google setup and I have connected via wifi during setup to signing/setup my Google acct. After Google setup & browsing via wifi, I then turn off wifi & promptly loose data's blue bars to white bars with no data.
Does installing a ROM modify or in any way touch radio, APN or RIL settings? What files and settings in files can I check after the install?
My WiFi icon is grey and does not connect what-so-ever, even after reboot, wipe, different rom, disconnect. Data still works flawlessly though. Any suggestions? Running SlimBean 3.1 right now, CM10 when this started happening
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus/191164-grey-signal-bars-wifi.html found this on google. Need to try this later.
Read that it was router-specific. Will try wifi at school tomorrow and if it works then its a problem with my home WiFi.
Edit**-
so I woke up this morning and it appeared to fix itself -_- its blue again.

So I take it you switched from CM10 to Slim... When going from one ROM to Slim like that, you have to fully wipe, including a format /system and use the full Slim gapps package, not the upgrade package....

That suggests to me that it's more of a problem with your network connection than with your device; I usually see that happen with wifi when whoever's providing it either requires a login through a web browser or just blocks the relevant services. What sort of connection are you trying to use?

Solved my problem
First .. Open a file explorer on your phone
Then ...go to root directory (first) ..then Search for a folder named 'system' and open it
Then inside system there is a folder named 'etc' ..open it
Find 'hosts' file and make a copy of it and rename the copy and delete the original file ...
Hope this helped
This Happened to me too
I was getting the same issue with my tablet. Grey icon for wifi and SSL error on my Chrome browser. No internet whatsoever, started happening when i tried clearing cache files on system.
I was searching and googling for answers abt this issue with my wifi, then I finally tried fixing it myself. This was happening to my Lenovo ideatab A3000-h, then I looked on every settings I could see, to check if there are any changes on anything. I was almost about to give up, then I saw the time was incorrect. I checked the system date and time and I saw it was set to 8am 01/01/09. I then set the CORRECT DATE AND TIME (automatic setup via mobile network), then poof, everything went running again. I see my blue wifi icon now..
The other guys are correct, grey icon means that there was an error on google sync, and in my case, since the time was all messed up, the syncing part was getting confused. Grey Icon for wifi doesnt always mean 'no internet'. just means, syncing is not successful
This Paranoid Android 4.5 BETA1 for T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 seems to be stable build except it has few bugs related to WiFi.
After upgrading from Paranoid Android 4.45 to 4.5, WiFi stops working and it deleted saved WiFi Access Points. Any changes you make in WiFi Settings seems to be giving error " FAILED TO SAVE NETWORK CHANGES".
This WiFi bug is still exists even if you revert it back to 4.45.

No, I'm not using any one of them... The WiFi issues start appearing after I've upgraded to Paranoid Android 4.5 from 4.45. But even if i downgrade to 4.45 the wifi issues remains there.
I think I only have one option to clean format and install it again. But I do not want to loose all of my custom settings.

Did you make a backup before you flashed the update? I did have this problem 3 months ago with an update and a clean flash fixed it and it was stable. I have found that rather than dirty flashing updates I do a full backup in TWRP, full wipe, flash ROM, gapps, addons, and kernel, wipe cache and Dalvik, reboot, let sit 10 mins to settle, reboot recovery, wipe cache and Dalvik, restore just data, wipe cache and Dalvik again and reboot. I've even dine this switching to other Roms but it won't work with all.

Guess what... I think i have solved my issues with just un-checking one of the option in settings. LOL
I realized that I made some changes right after installing the update which I totally forgot about it. So I went back to those settings:fingers-crossed: and checked which one was causing this problem. And WAHLLAA It was definitely one with Cast Screen settings causing the WiFi problems.
HERE ARE MY SOLVED STEPS:
Goto >> Settings
Then >> Display
then >> Cast Screen
then go to the Option of Cast Screen on top right.
SIMPLY uncheck the option [Enable wireless display].
Then REBOOT is required.
You should have working wifi without any changes to the wifi settings.
DON'T FORGET THE """"THANKS BUTTON"""":highfive:

@mkdroid - I edited this thread's title as well due to your direct copy of the Development thread's title - this is not a good practice as it can be very confusing both to those actually looking at the forum and those searching through both XDA & Google/etc.
Please refrain from copying development thread titles for your threads and leave the [ROM] and other tags for the appropriate places. You should use the [Q] tag if you want to use one at all in the Q&A section.
Thanks.
