[Q] emulated folder?? - Sony Xperia ZL

hi, after installing file manager, i found out that there is a mirror image folder similar to my sdcard folder named storage/emulated/0. Whenever i delete any files , its seems like a mirror image to my sdcard folder. Is it the way Xperia ZL manages its files or it happened after i rooted it? I don remember Xperia S and Ion has this. The Z too.

It's a 4.2 thing. As I've read, it's caused by the multi user function introduced in this version...

[Q] no Home apk after I replaced the existing home.apk with the new one

Hi,
This morning I tried to install the xperia S apk file to my xperia arc s running on android 4.03.
However before replacing, I took a backup of existing home.apk using root explorer.
I replaced the existing one with a new home.apk and then did a reboot.
After reboot I am not able to see the home.apk at all in the default application list.
I did a factory reset but still dont see the home.apk.
Now i am unable to see the screen itself. Kindly help me to restore the home.apk
Small query: Is it possible to install home.apk file from CWM recovery?
Please guide me
Did you changed permission before replacing the apk?
To make it working you need to change the permission of Home.apk then replace and reboot.
Permission should be like this-
r-w-
r - -
r - -
So I guess now your problem is that you can power on your device then but it is stuck @ boot logo right?
IF yes then you might try this.
Download this launcher from the link below. It's Zeam launcher and it's free available in the market.
http://www.mediafire.com/?991i94rx5kaxy85
After downloading, unzip it and put the apk. in to the following flashtools location-
Flashtools\Custom\app\ [I assume you have flashtools installed and also have root access]
Then open Flashtools and power on the device and connect it. Your device will stuck @ boot logo, no problem just connect it.
Then you should see that in Flashtools displays a message that "root access allowed"
Then @ top bar of flashtools you will see some icons. One of them is a curved arrow and that indicates apk installer. Click it and it should install the Zeam launcher to your device.
Then you restart the device and you will be able to use the phone using Zeam Launcher. You can restore the Home.apk as well.
This was the complicated way.
Now if u have CWM recovery installed and can boot in to recovery then you just need a flashable zip of the Home.apk
There are many Flashable Zip available in the Theme & Apps section. Download one from that. Then put that zip in to you SD card. Reboot in recovery and install that zip.
Since you can not operate your phone directly so may need a Card reader to access the memory card of your phone to save the Zip there.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I guess I made the work more complicated but I could learn something out of it.
I actually could restore the home.apk in a bit different and complex manner as compared to your solution.
I entered the CWM more and did a factory reset and then did a reboot.
Once done, I got all the steps of registering mobile for first use
I could get into settings but couldn't get to the home screen to access applications. So I did some stupid work but seems like that was a life savior
I connected a headset and there was a pop up stating "a new accessory connected"
From that i could select an application for launch and I chose "Application Installer". I could now access the apk files from application installer and then i installed one home.apk (I guess its for xperia S) and then did a reboot.
I am now able to see the homescreen and everything but its the homescreen of xperia S. Now i got back into the root explorer app and then tried to change the permission of home.apk (xperia S) to the one you just suggested and then replaced the home.apk (default apk for xperia arc s) and replaced and did a reboot.
But I still see that home.apk is not replaced with the default home.apk of xperia arc S.
Is it possible to get back my default home.apk (xperia arc S) if so please guide me.
Sorry for being so stupid and messing up things here. This is the first time I am trying to work with a root device.
Aside from setting permissions and changing owner to "root", you need to go into settings, apps, all and clear the data for Xperia Home. Then reset. It's worked for me on both 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.
If you can access root explorer then i believe you can easily replace with the original Home.apk of Xperia ARC S
This is the link for Xperia ARC S Home.apk of ICS 4.0.3
http://www.mediafire.com/?s4m6f8d9dmqhp0g
And do this and it's a must as adielee mentioned.
Clear the data after replacing. I forgot mention it earlier.
Heya,
I had the same issue and this is what caused it; not enough free space on the system partition (/system).
Go to the /system folder an delete bloatware apk's and/or .apk's you don't need, like the clock widgets and/or the powersaver.
After I did that, I had like 8 Mb of free space and then I installed a new/edited home.apk & rebooted into to new home
After the boot, the system partition only had 500Kb free space while the home.apk was only 1.5Mb.
And yes, it is possible to make your own CWM installer for the home.apk
Take a look at this post; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23358807&postcount=94
Download the .zip file and copy your home.apk into the .zip (overwrite existing file!)
Worked Perfectly !!
I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly now!!! thanx auni & adielee!!

Try clear data or cache in Gallary app or wait until it fully loads.I also facing that problem often. And same with that my computer can't recognized about new file downloaded by phone.
Sorry for my poor language
You by any chance using the xperia GX framework?
Have absolutely no idea why but was having this problem when I installed a rom with GX framework. Only fix was to go into settings/storage and unmount then remount sd card, but had to do this after ever time I reset my phone.
I have now changed framework to Xperia T and problem has disappeared.
Again, absolutely no idea why it's even related.........
Maybe give it a try. It was annoying, especially when my music was also not showing up.

[THEME]Cosmic Flow theme for Xperia Mini Pro (sk17i)

I have posted this custom theme for Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) for rooted GB...
The theme is taken and modified from stock ICS.
I haven't tasted for other Xperia devices, so it might work...
Before you start, back up your original DefaultThemes.apk file in /system/app in your phone to your SD card
Just download the .APK file
Use root browser:
copy the .apk file with name DefaultThemes.apk and paste in your SD card, and than move it to /system/app
set permissions to wr--r--r
reboot device
enjoy

[q] xperia m dual showing forced close

I was installing Xperia m X3 UI theme . So I was using root explorer to do that but I was only able to find system /apps and replaced system hi.all with new files downloaded but I was unable to find META_INF so I did not replaced its given file . Then I restarted it is always showing system hi force close please help me..
Brother, you don't need to find that folder bc it isn't exits, it just contains scripts to run that zip in recovery. Okey, now that you made changes, was your system deodexed? I am pretty sure it wasn't and hence causing systemui halt. Now flash stock firmware to gain access to working phone.

I want the original sound mode for the Z1 c6903
This is Z1c forum. Maybe a Z1 user will see it, but make sure you post in Z1 forum.
This is how I did from Z1C:
1. On computer, open up the mod's zip file
2. On phone, with root browser, delete the files from your system folders, that are present in the mod's zip (dont care if they were already there before the mod install, we will put back the original files)
3. DONT REBOOT
4. Download (or if you already have it on your computer, open) your custom rom's zip. If you are on stock, then download any stock based rom
5. Extract mixer_paths.xml from system/etc, and libspeexresampler.so from system/lib, push them to phone, and paste to their places. (in my case only theese 2 were missing, but i installed an other sound mod, so probably it put some of the files back)
6. You should check, that every file that is in the rom's zip file is present on your phone, because if one is missing you can get bootloop. First, i compared the dolby mod's zip with the rom's zip, and when i found a match, i checked on my phone, if the file exists. If no, then extract from rom zip and copy to phone.
8. There are some lines in the build.prop too, but I think you can leave them (the build.prop changes can be found in the dolby.sh script, in the root of the mod's zip, if you want, you can compare yours, and whats in the script, and delete the unnecessary lines)
7. After you are sure that 0 system file missing from your phone, reboot
Thats how I "uninstalled" the dolby mod
