[Q] Bricked toro - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Here's what happened: I've been running the latest nightly of Carbon ROM for about a day, and it froze up on me. No big deal, it is a nightly after all. I tried to reboot, but it was unresponsive, so I had to do a battery pull.
After I reinserted the battery, the phone would not turn on. And that is exactly where I am now. I have read a few threads which suggested leaving the battery out for a while, then trying to reboot, which hasn't worked for me. I also tried plugging the charger in without the battery, to no avail, so now I'm lost. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is what you folks refer to as "hard bricked".
Any suggestions? I'm going to leave it unplugged and the leave the battery out all night, and see what happens in the morning.

power off, take the battery out, plug it back in
long press power+volume up+volume down, until you see the fastboot screen. Reflash stock.
if you can't, motherboard is probably dead.

[Q] another CM7 brick???

Ok, So I had the crazy boot loop issue a while back and was unable to fix it. I tried several PC36IMG's and even ran a RUU to go back to stock. All that failed and had no choice to take it to a sprint store. The techs there were also unable to get it running, they had to give me a replacement.
So now the replacement I got was also running CM7. I noticed earlier this morning while I had it connected to the charger, it would not charge past 1%. I unplugged it a few times and also pulled the battery. Nothing worked, it was stuck at charging on 1%. I got a text from my wife and after I replied I noticed the battery displayed 98% charged. Within minutes the phone shut down. It will not power on at all. I tried leaving the battery out for 1/2 hour and still no dice. If I have it plugged in it doesnt even show a charging light anymore.
Any ideas???

Does anything happen if you were to press the down volume button while simultaneously pressing the power button? Battery inserted, of course.

Negative...nothing at all happenes. Weird thing is out of all the times I tried to turn the phone on, twice it booted to the white HTC screen very briefly and just powered back down. Im done working in 2 hours. I will try a different charger to see if it may possibly be a bad charger? I doubt it but maybe???
That happened to my daughters phone, turns out the cat chewed part of the charger wire.
Well that was freaking weird. When I got home I first tried my wifes charger and that didnt work. Then i tried my wife's battery. They must have changed the evo design. Before this refurb, her battery from the shift fit perfectly fine. This referb it doesn't fit. Anyways, after I tried her battery I tried her charger. It works now. I let it charge a few minutes and the phone now turns on. I tried my charger again and it works also. That's really weird, it wasn't working all day. I'm not sure what fixed it. The battery only goes in one way. I checked all the connection points on the battery and phone. Everything looks fine. I did flip my wife's battery around so I could make the connections touch to try and turn it on that way. But that didn't work. It did work when I put my battery back in and used her charger the second time. Maybe her battery shocked it back to life? I have no clue but all is back to normal and well now.

[Q] Random shut off issue

Hi this is my first post here, and I've tried to search through the general forum and Q&A with no avail, so I've decided to post it up.
Basically, my Gnex randomly shuts off (more often as of recent, happened 4 times since getting the phone), and won't turn back on. Once it shuts off, I kept trying to turn it back on, and even tried pulling the battery and waiting a few seconds. The only thing that seems to work is if I pull the battery out, plug the phone into an outlet, and then pop the battery in. From there the phone works fine. But since it's started to happen more frequently, I'm worried that there's something I need to fix here. Has anyone ran into the same issue?
I'm running aokp b31, franco kernel M2, and I've got an official 2000mAh extended battery; if that helps.

Is your battery a third party battery? Seems that if your battery is only giving the phone power when plugged into an outlet that it must be a dud. I could be wrong but third party Chinese batteries are not always reliable.
The extended battery is from Samsung, and it's been reliably usable for the most part, except for this issue. I haven't had this problem with the stock battery however.

[Q] What the hell just happened??

So I'm watching tv, and I plug in my phone to charge it a bit because the GPS had gotten stuck on this morning and I burned my battery down to 40%. All of a sudden I hear it buzzing over and over again...like a reboot loop.
So I pull it out of the charger, pull the battery and let it try to boot. Gives the samsung screen for a moment, then flickers, and again to the reboot loop. Holding down power for 10 sec makes it do the same thing, I can't force it into recovery or DL mode without it bootlooping either! At one point I was able to get to the download mode screen, but just 3 seconds and the screen goes black, and back to bootlooping.
I literally did nothing to it. Only thing I did different today was the GPS got stuck (which it has done before), I rebooted the phone, then when it booted again I went ahead and just shut off the GPS. But this was like 20 minutes before this started happening.
So what can I do? Right now its plugged into my computer charging while off, seems to be the only thing it can do without bootlooping.
Running CM9.1 Nightly 9/3 with included kernel and LC8 radio (I think)

My first guess is your battery is shot. i was gonna recommend the power button failure but if its staying off it might not be that. but id let it charge fully then try to boot up.
Thanks, oddly after a bit of messing around finally got it to boot up. Immediately backed up in CWM....seems to be acting OK now. Idk what happened...
i'll guess, the USB connector got short-circuited when you plugged in, and it caused a cascade failure that fried the SD card or something else inside the phone
there was a factory defect back then with the old SGS 1 (i9000m) model, they fixed that after the 3rd batch, everyone with an old phone from 1st and 2nd release batches, were able to exchange i for a new one.
however in your case, that's not a factory defect, but you plugged it wrong (my guess)
because it has happened to me before when i plugged it in, but the battery was still not charging even after several minutes, yet the phone was getting really really hot
then i unplug, and plug it back in and got the sound feedback "tuu tuud" and then it was actually charging after a few minutes
the first time around even though the charging icon changed, there was no feed back sound, and that was the key, it was not plugged in properly.
so after that time, i always made sure to verify to make sure the phone was plugged in properly and not just relay on he visual icon.
check back after a few minutes, to make sure the phone doesn't get very hot, and it actually increased 1%
It happened again today! After a full charge overnight and no problems for the day up to a little while ago, I opened my email app, it froze, then proceeded to start boot looping. I'm in class so I don't have my computer to try to bring it out of it...so yeah that sucks...
I do remember when I got it to charge yesterday it showed it was charging for 20-30 minutes, but after I "revived" it, I found it hadn't charged at all.
I have been using a Nokia USB cable to charge my phone since I got it, because it was longer than the cheapie Samsung cable that came with it...but it hasn't ever caused problems before. And it charged just fine last night.
How long is the warranty on these things thru tmobile? I may just swap it out while I still can.
Also on an unrelated note, I upgraded to the LG3 radio because I was meaning to anyways...
I pulled it out of it again! This time I held the power button while putting the battery in, when it vibrated I let go, it vibrated again, showed the Samsung logo, and then booted like normal
May I ask what rom are you currently on?

CM9.1 nightly 9/3 with included kernel
It did it a third time during class while it was in my pocket, the power button trick didn't work this time, I had to pull the battery after the samsung logo, plugging it back in to get it to boot...but...
near the end of the CM9 boot animation, when it vibrates and the auto brightness kicks in, it started it again! I have yet to revive it...
This is a bit upsetting because I had just got CM9 the way I liked it and I don't exactly have the time right now to mess with warranty and a new phone...I would like to fix it.
There are about 20 different threads on here on how to revert to stock...let me as a last ditch try to revert to stock and see if it keeps doing it...unless somebody has any ideas...
I was working in recovery mode, i super-wiped my phone to see if installing a ROM from scratch would help, and my phone even does it in recovery mode. Warranty time.
So whats the fastest way to restore to stock? Who knows how long I will have after reviving it before it breaks again.

Thanks! got it all done, back to ugly, ugly stock lol...and just when I thought maybe I would have to brick it myself it did the reboot thing again...so pulled the battery and there it sits factory reset.

Charge/Power Issue (please help)

Ok, so I have an HTC EVO 4G and I was doing a factory reset on it because I found that it had malware on it but then the battery died. I go home and i plug it in and it went into recovery mode but as I tried to scroll down, the phone shut down and it wont even turn on. No lights are on either. Can anyone help? I know that the reason it wont turn on has nothing to do with the malware because its a simple notification script. The only reason I decided to do a factory reset is because I wanted to clean out all the garbage on the rom. I'm open to any suggestions.
Have you pulled the battery and let it sit for a while? I've had similar issues before and that's worked for me. Let it sit for an hour then plug it in. Also if you have another charging cable use it. Your usb cable may have went bad. If that doesn't work I'd find a friend with an evo and try their battery.
It worked. (sorta)

So i found a friend with an evo and tried his battery and it didn't work, but we decided to swap batteries so he could charge mine through his own phone. And when the battery was at like 20% charge we put it back into the bricked phone and it turned on. It got stuck on the boot screen as expected but we took the battery out and went into the bootloader and wiped it from there. Thanks man. :good:

LG G3 is my phone dead?

Hello. Im sure there is plenty of such topics in the forum, but I believe, that my case is specific and I hope we could resurrect my phone somehow together.
So last night I just send a WhatsApp VoiceMessage to my friend as suddenly my phone started shutting down, just like if it had 0-2% battery power... But it actually had over 40% battery life... I thought ok, yeah, might be battery, so I plugged in the original charger and the phone didn't show any signs of being alive. Then I've unplugged charger, toke battery out, plugged charger back in and I saw that its still alive, telling me "please put the battery in, there is nothing inside me to be charged". So I placed battery back to the phone and guess what.... It shows no signs of being alive again, the battery wouldnt charge... Then out of panic I started to do random stuff like holding power button for 10secs for soft restart, holding power button and volume down button for what ever that was... Plugging charger in and out like crazy... The phone was just dead! So I had to give up... I toke the battery out and let the phone lay for like I dont know 2-3 hours. Later on, I came back, put battery inside and tried power button + volume down again.... woohoo!! , it worked, my phone started to boot! I thought this is it! Hes alive again, but ahahaha.... 6-7 secons during the boot, it just turned off immediatly. I thought yeah, must be battery, so I order new, original LG G3 battery... And while the order was on his way to me, I managed to charge the old battery after letting the phone lay for 2-3 hours and then plugging charger in again. It started to charge... I let it go up to 66% I believe and tried to turn on the phone again.... Guess now what? LG intro screen poped-up and the in left corner I just saw something with "boot error blah blah geeky stuff" and suddenly red and blue LED started to blink, red/blue/red/blue/etc... and the screen just turned off.... I couldnt do anything.... So I removed battery again and waited for my order... Next day I got no success turning my phone on with new battery.... I was playing around with different button combinations and remove/put battery and conclusion is.... The phone is dead except if you let lay without battery for few minutes... Then you can start charging battery for example... After that you can try to boot it, but it will just shut down immediatly after few seconds. Or you can try to boot it, but again, it will shut down immediatly and then you cant do anything until you let it lay without battery. I also managed to access recovery mode but I didnt start it, because I would like to get at least my data back somehow.... The phone is not that important as the data on it. I also tried to access download mode, for recovering my data, but without success....
LG G3 D855 Europe version
Lollipop 5.0 OTA version
Not rooted, Not modified
Any help would be really appreciated. If its impossible to resurrect the phone, can I save at least my data somehow? What would I try, please?
[Edit]
I just tried to start factory reset for sake of god.... Found some data recovery software on the internet, that might help after factory reset, but phone just shut down immediatly after I confirmed that I want to reset and nooow.... I see the LG logo like it would try to boot for already 20minutes and nothing happens

Thats what it appears normally when this happens a new battery is most of the time the fix....
Only other recommendations are try different usb cables and charging blocks....
As well as if you did not purchase a legitimate G3 battery I would try to purchase a new oem battery....There are cheaper aftermarket ones But I am one the the stick to oem type To many quality control issues imo...
I know Lg dont have the best track record for quality control either.....
