[Q] Totally bricked(probably overheated) - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Device is doesn't react anything. Do not light button. Nothing. Totally bricked. And seems to be totally erased. No data. No bootloader.
Tryed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038.
Device power up with usb_fix_parts_and_install_fff_twrp and Boot Shorting Trick. Loads TWRP. But what's next?
Tryed to put some firmwares to sdcard and install it - got lots of errors. And nothing.
Kindle Fire utility says:
ADB Status: Online
ADB Rooted: Yes
Boot Status: Unknown
P.S. If i press "reboot" or power down device - going to the beginning(Device is doesn't react anything.)
P.P.S. MB it's not brick, but hardware problem(flash memory died...)?How to check?

If you successfully did usb_fix_parts_and_install_fff_twrp, then either it should leave it with a working bootloader & recovery or your flash is somehow bad.

It boots into twrp up after usb_fix_parts_and_install_fff_twrp(usb load).
but in terminal window i can see lots of messages: unable to mount /system /data /cache /sdcard.....
Flash is bad?
What can i do with it? Mainboard replacement only?

UPD: /usbboot aboot.bin u-boot.bin; ./fastboot flash boot 6_2_1rootboot.img
fails with:
writing 'boot'...
FAILED (remote: image too large for partition)
UPD2. Strange thing that flashing(fastboot flash...) different file sizes takes almost the same time(256kb sending 0.035s writing 1.231s, 16mb sending 4.111s writing 1.230s).
Does replacing flash memory chip unbrick it?

Boot loop - flashing via fastboot works, adb does not.

Okay, so I tried my best to search the forums and read the Q+A first, but the suggestions I've found so far didn't help me solve my problem.
I started with Hasoon200's tool kit and successfully unlocked the boot loader. Then, however, I got stuck at installing CWRM (it just wouldn't boot into recovery after installing). So I gave it a try with the "One X one Click" tool kit. I downloaded the n3okernel v34 and -modules as well as the newest nightly build of Cyanogen Mod (cm-10.1-20130414-NIGHTLY-endeavoru).
Now my HOX is caught in a boot loop. No matter which option I choose (fastboot / hboot, recovery, factory reset), it'll always go to the white HTC screen and stay there. Since Q+A's Q11 mentions it: yes, the last time I could boot into the OS (then still the stock image) I disabled fast boot in power settings.
Currently I can only access my HOX via fastboot, I already got a stock image and extracted the boot + recovery images, which I then flashed with the fastboot utility, as suggested in the Q+A's Q9. I erased the cache and rebooted to no avail. I also tried the firmware executable (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_O2_DE_1.26.207.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251288_signed) to no avail.
Q+A's Q15 suggests sideloading via adb, but adb won't recognize my device.
I've also relocked the bootloader, this was suggested in another online ressource after flashing the stock boot+recovery images.
The phones HBOOT Version is 1.36.0000. I've noticed a different radio version than the one mentioned in my downloaded RUU; phone says 5.1204.162.29, downloaded file says 1.1204.90.13. I've not yet found a working download link with the right version number.
Please help.
Unlock it, make a full wipe in the custom recovery, install cm10.1, install gapps, flash the boot.img from the cm10.1 Rom and reboot.
So
Unlock it, flash a custom recovery (if you havent got one). If you still have trouble entering it you do this command in the bootloader
Fastboot erase cache

Unlocking the bootloader works, but I'm not able to enter the recovery mode. It only shows a black screen (see attached picture).
EDIT: ok, wait... after flashing the clockwork recovery, I'm now getting into recovery mode. Will now try the next steps you suggested and give feedback later. Thanks a lot so far!
Press the Power and Volume down buttons which will take you the the hboot screen. From there select fastboot and flash a custom recovery like CWM via fastboot.
Now select hboot again and then select recovery!
Okay, so I successfully flashed CWM. I'm now able to boot into recovery. I also succeeded in flashing a boot.img which i took from cm-10.1-20130414-NIGHTLY-endeavoru.zip
c:\One\One\Data>fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (4960 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.684s]
writing 'boot'...
(bootloader) Format partition LNX done
OKAY [ 0.498s]
finished. total time: 1.186s
Now - when selecting hboot - the phone gets to another screen, the one where it displays the "HTC One" logo; I tried flashing the CM-image using fastboot (adb still doesn't work), but got following error message:
c:\One\One\Data>fastboot flash /sdcard update.zip
sending '/sdcard' (200098 KB)...
OKAY [ 25.507s]
writing '/sdcard'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 25.716s
So close, yet so far...
So you have a working CWM installed right?
After flashing the boot.img... do "fastboot erase cache"
now go to CWM(recovery) and mount your sd card... copy the CM10ROM.zip and the gapps.zip to your HOX...
after that select wipe data and then wipe dalvic and cache...
Now select install zip from SD and install the ROM and then the gapps... reboot!
The problem is that I can't - or could'nt - transfer files any other way than using fastboot. However, I've now flashed Team Win TWRP2, and finally I'm able to access my phone over adb or just mount it and access it via explorer. Phew.
FINALLY!
So, if another noob like me finds this thread in the future...
After installing the TWRP2 recovery with flashboot flash twrp2.img, then booting into recovery and mounting my device, I was able to copy the CM-ROM-zip file onto the HOX. Then I rebooted into fastboot again and flashed the boot.img from aforementioned zip-file using "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
Booted again, selected the recovery system, installed ROM from zip file.
I'm getting too old for this ****. Almost had a heart attack when I thought I had bricked my phone. Thanks everyone for holding my hand, I appreciate it.
Good mate !

[Q] Please help, P6 stuck at boot screen

A friend of mine as the same phone as me, the Huawei Ascend P6, and when she said hers was broken I said I would take a look. I have played around with flashing Android Roms etcetera, but I am totally stuck with this problem.
The problem is as follows: when booting the phone it shows the Huawei Ascend logo (as it should) for a couple of seconds, but then instead of the Huawei animation it shows the name "android" and gets stuck there (see attachment).
After some researching I put the UPDATE.APP file from the Huawei website in the dload folder on the root of the SD-card and tried rebooting. I tried a several times, but nothing happened.
Next I successfully booted in recovery mode but even when starting recovery the screen shows errors (see attachment):
Code:
E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
ensure_path_mounted Failed
E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument
Installing a ZIP file, wipe cache and wipe data give even more errors.
So I thought I would try flashing through ADB/fastboot, and used the HuaweiUpdateExtractor tool to get the images. I can get manually in fastboot mode, but when I try to flash an image get the error
Code:
FAILED (remote: flash failure, ErrNo:2)
I tried using different files, USB ports, cables, linux and windows but nothing seems to help. Has anyone an idea what to do next?
it would help much to know what fw is / was flashed as last..
this android screen means to me that it should be a chinese / non international version..
if you enter fastboot mode and connect your phone to the pc make sure your pc recognizes the phone (for checking: fastboot devices - it should show you many "????")..if so try to install twrp (there are many threads about it)..then you might be able to install (through twrp) a repack of b513 or another version (but it has to be a repack)..
after that (and hopefully successful) you can try (use search) to change to an official fw again..
just my suggestion
hope you get a solution..

Since I can not boot and it's not my own phone I have no clue what the version is
Luckily my PC recognizes the phone in fastboot (indeed with a weird name with a lot of ?), but I am not able to flash twrp because every time I try I get a FAILED response... Maybe the file I have is wrong. Could you point me to a thread about falshing twrp?
here is a guide for unlocking bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50724517

here for KK roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51718302
maybe you need to unlock your bootloader at first
changes not working
Thanks for the links! I am able to flash an image, but for some reason my changes won't stick. When I boot in fastboot it says it is locked and I am able to unlock it, but everytime I reboot it is locked again. The same happens with twrp, I am able to flash the image but for some reason when I boot back into recovery nothing has changed.

That's what I was afraid of..
I think the unlock code doesn't work correctly on this phone for some reason, but I don't think I'll be able to get an unlock code specific for my device from Huawei, without serial number and such which I can't get since the phone doesn't boot.
I hope there is some warranty left...
Results
If anyone is interested (perhaps in the future), the phone was sent for repairs and is working again. They probably replaced the motherboard, but luckily it all fell under the warranty.
Thanks to blueIBI for trying to help!!

[Q] TIFU going from GPE5.1 Back to Sense, Please help :)

Flash 1.54.401.5 firmware from Here
Fastboot Method
Boot device into FASTBOOT mode either by adb reboot bootloader or Vol down & Power (device should show FASTBOOT USB)
Make sure the firmware file to be flashed is in your android folder
Open a command prompt from the folder where fastboot resides. (Hold shift key/right click in the dir to get menu - left click on Open Command Prompt here.)
Run the following commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this will reboot the device into RUU mode in preparation for zip flashing)
fastboot flash zip 1.54.401.5-W_Splash.zip (the name of the zip should EXACTLY match the name of the file you're flashing)
It will fail the first time. Run the same command AGAIN until you see it has flashed successfully.
I repeat - Run the same command TWICE until you see it has flashed successfully.
Once complete, type fastboot reboot-bootloader The hyphen is required.
Everything went well until the after that... I stuffed up royally.. my failure is below...
PS C:\adb> fastboot reboot-bootloader

I realize i skipped the below steps...
Boot into stock recovery
Factory reset
Reboot into bootloader
It would seem that what i've gone and done is flashed TWRP into the Boot Partition or something? now whenever i boot up, it won't show the fastboot screen, it goes straight to "entering recovery" and sits there forever.... one thing worth noting, i can see the internal storage(well some of it) the device is recognized in windows and then internal storage is 10.5gb free out of 10.6gb, Navigating to the internal directory shows 3 directories: 0, obb, and TWRP. 0 is a neverending folder. every 3rd layer deep click it shows the root directory again...
Help would be very very much appreciated!
cheers!
EDIT: Sorted! It turns out i'm an idiot and wasn't pushing volume down fast enough to get into bootloader. Sorry guys!!!!

If the bootloader was overwritten, damaged or corrupted, the phone would be bricked, and the screen would not come on at all.
This is the second post on the first page where the OP solved their own issue. You guys are getting good at fixing your own problems.

Fastboot stuck, no recovery

Hello,
i have big problem wiht my D855. I'm trying to install recovery on my device via fastboot, because flashify method failed resulting in lack of recovery on my phone... When i enter "the place where recovery should be" boot certification error shows up and the only way to get rid of it is to re-insert the battery. Unfortunatelly fastboot is not working somehow. Command where it stuck while flashing says:
Code:
C:\adb\fastboot flash recovery reco.img
target reported max download size of 214743648 bytes
sending 'recovery' (15382 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.557s]
writing 'recovery'...
device:
Code:
[132740] fastboot: flash:recovery
Ive been already waiting about 40 minutes for this process to continue but of course nothing happened. After removing USB cable it says:
Code:
FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
finished. total time: 649.362s
Other commands also do not work, they crash almost the same way but with sh.. i called "three dot bug"
Code:
C:\Users\Dom\Desktop\2>fastboot flashing unlock
...
It even dont reboot after typing:
Code:
C:\Users\Dom\Desktop\2>fastboot reboot-bootloader
rebooting into bootloader...
I have tried different cables, USB ports, different PC. I have lates LG drivers installed. What can I do. My OS is running but has many issues like not working wifi, crashing camera or random reboots (on new battery), so I cant use this phone anymore. It is impossible to revert it back to factory because recovery, which is used for this process is not working, so do fastboot...
Please help, I'm not android expert (and poor english user).
Cheers
Flash the latest TWRP onto it, it should let you boot. I had this problem a few days ago on a samsung tablet. I used odin on that. But you are going to have to match up the TWRP version and the android version you are running.
If you get TWRP working you wont have any problems, you can fix everything from there. Flash fulmics, unroot, what ever you want. Wipe the whole device ect. Make your goal trying to get TWRP on it.
Well, the problem is that I'm trying to flash TWRP now, it is the "reco.img" file, because I was trying to resolve the recovery instalation problem by changing name of file, which could be a problem somehow.
I found adb method to flash recovery:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
dd if=/sdcard/yourrecovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Will it work? ADB is working fine, I already tried similar method when removing and reinstalling laf.

Bricked? Bootloop to TWRP > Stuck on TWRP Logo > Fastboot not recognized > No way out?

Hope you guys can give me a hand and get me out of this situation...
What I am using
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro with:
- Pixel Experience Rom
- TWRP 3.5.2_9
Windows 10 21H1 x64
What happend
- Updating Pixel Experience Rom failed
Downloaded update
Booted into Recovery (battery 85%)
Recovery stuck on Logo
After 30m I tried to reboot to system (thinking update failed or never started)
Reboot in to Recovery
Stuck on Logo
What I tried
- I tried XiaomiFastBootADBTools (latest version)
Device is recognized in Recovery mode
In recovery I can't do anything
Rebooting to System from here results in reboot into Recovery
Booting to fastboot works, but device is not recognized
Re-installed drivers, but no luck
Still recognized in Recovery mode
Still NOT recognized in Fastboot mode
Windows Device Manager > The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
And turning of phone is not possible, just goes back to Recovery
Don't know what else to do. I have installed all the drivers I could find. Even used Snappy Driver, but nothing seems to do the trick when the phone goes into Fastboot mode. PC just doesn't recognize it.
So can't do anything in Recovery mode; just watching the TWRP logo.
And device is not recognized in fastboot mode; forgot usb debugging?
And can't boot into system to change that, because of bootloop to Recovery.
So, am I **** out of luck and bricked my phone?
While in Recovery mode (when the phone is still recognized) type in adb window the command - adb reboot bootloader. Phone should boot to Fastboot mode and see if it's still recognized.

Yeah, that works. Same as with XiaomiADBFastbootTools. But after that the problem starts (remains).
When I get into Fastboot the Device Manager shows the phone as Other Devices > Android with an exclamation mark and the message that the drivers are not installed. I'm missing a driver, but I don't know which one. Guessing Xiaomi USB driver? Finally fixed that issue with another round of googling. I read that you just need net "Mi unlock Tool". So tyring to find that one:
results in a download that doesn't contain the files needed.... No driver_install and no miflash_unlock.exe etc.
pretty weird, found another page https://c.mi.com/thread-2262302-1-0.html with previous versions
- 4.5.813.51 won't download... really xiaomi, your site sucks.
- 4.5.707.49 finally downloads and seems to work.
So updated the driver by pointing to that folder. Worked like a charm.
Opening Minimal ADB and Fastboot (XiaomiADBFastboottools didn't recognize phone once in fastboot).
- adb reboot bootloader > success

What about trying to flash latest fastboot rom with MiFlash since fastboot now works?
Absolutely awesome! We did it!
I'm no expert in all this, so I had to use a guide to flash a fastboot rom with the Mi Flash Tool. I used this guide: https://www.thecustomdroid.com/install-miui-fastboot-rom-using-miflash-tool-xiaomi/
That was all straight forward untill I came to step 6; flashing the actual rom with the Mi Flash Tool.
The tool just wouldn't recognize my phone when in Fastboot mode. Even after the driver install popup.
- after pressing refresh phone disconnected.
- tried 3 different usb ports (read online that this could be the issue)
- tried 3 different cables...
The third cable (Ugreen cable) worked! Although it only worked on a usb 3.0 port strangely enough.
I used the "clean all" option and flashed the latest MIUI global fastboot rom for the RMN5.
Flashing process was a bit strange, because the tool didn't provide me with the same information shown in the guide, but it flashed a couple of things to 100% completeness and after that it kept counting up and showing $pause. Not much later the phone started to boot into MIUI and everything was normal.
Enabled dev options and usb debugging.
Re-flashed latest twrp recovery just to be sure.
And it's all working fine again.
Really, thank you for your help! It's much appreciated!

Unfortunately, the problem has returned.
The first time flashing Orange Fox Recovery was no problem. I could boot to Recovery. I installed Pixel Experience Plus again. That all worked fine.
Today I wanted to try out ArrowOS. And this is what I did:
- loaded the .zip file on the phone
- turned off the phone
- booted into recovery
- stuck on recovery logo screen...
- after this the phone bootloops to recovery again as before...
In Recovery and Fastboot the phone is still recognized by the PC. But in Recovery I can't do anything.
So in Fastboot mode I tried re-flashing Orange Fox , but same result. Flashing seems successful but can't get past the Recovery logo. I even tried flashing TWRP, but also same result.
I can probably redo all the steps in my previous post, but once I boot to recovery the phone is done for it seems.
Any ideas?

Hmm, I don't know why is that happening. It's usually the custom recovery's fault in such case except if Pixel rom comes with its own prebuilt recovery that overwrites the one you installed.
I suggest you first to try to boot into system to see if it will work - in fastboot mode type the command fastboot reboot.
If this doesn't work then flash again fastboot rom to get the phone in working condition and after installing twrp FORMAT DATA in twrp Wipe section. Then install rom again.
Good luck, zaqm!

It worked!
Don't know why, but it's working. Here's what I did:
- In Fastboot Mode > fastboot reboot > booted to recovery, so no luck there
- Used MiFlash to flash the fastboot rom again (clean all)
- Setup the phone etc. and activated usb debugging
- Flashed TWRP
- Booted to TWRP
- Format Data
- Rebooted to TWRP
- Mounted Storage, uploaded ArrowOS.zip and installed it
- Wiped Dalvik/Cache
- Booted ArrowOS, and success!
Have done several reboots to (and from) system/recovery and it just works again, as it should.
I think the Format Data in TWRP did the trick. I remember in Orange Fox this all was a bit unclear; I'm just not used to Orange Fox, always used TWRP. So my bad for not correctly flashing the rom probably.
Again, thank you very much for your help! Have a great day! And let's hope this is the end of this issue haha.

Maybe some glitch of OrangeFox recovery and yeah, let's hope that this issue won't appear anymore.
All the best, zaqm!
