Hey, I am taking requests for any themes which you may want to be made for the HTC Messaging app.
Below is just a simple example I did to test my theory of editing, but everything can be edited.
If you want to request a theme, I will do my best to make it
Can you please use this template if you wish to request something, to make it easier for me to know what you want:

GUIDE
If you want to make your own themes ( cause you're better than me at it ) then follow this guide!
I am going to assume that you can decompile and compile apks. If you can't, then just request to me and I will make your chosen theme for you.
First pull the Message.apk from /system/app and use apktool to decompile it.
Now navigate to the Res/Drawable-XXHDPI folder. In here you will find all the PNGs for the themes. They are all numbered, so everything with the same number will correspond to each other...
When editing the PNGs, make sure to leave the 1 pixel wide black border around the edges or you will face compile errors.
Animations can be tweaked from the Anim folder and many other variables can be changed from the Values and Layout folders.
When you are finished, compile the apk and be sure to sign it.
Now push it to your phone and chmod 755 to set the correct permissions. Reboot and enjoy.
nice work!!! looking forward to this

Thanks for the honest efforts! Would love to see iOS 7 Like messaging bubbles, outgoing and incoming if possible... the lines that mark the current outgoing messages aren't that nice. I hope you get what im trying to say..

Kinda like this?, obviously with it all spaced correctly and better colours etc...
or more like iOS 7 with this:
Can you do a black and dark blue? I would really appreciate it.

Don't know if you would be willing to do this but I would really like to experiment with this! Think you could post some instructions on how you got it done? Seems like it's just editing a few .png files

would love something like this but blue instead of red. perhaps the vrtheme system can be used so we don't have to worry about losing any customization done to the mms.apk by our ROM's developer....

Im sorry let me start again, my dialer screens have always been black (I thought that was stock on ICS and JB), so have the other windows within the dialer screen. I am using Bugless Beast, and have not installed this flashable file yet.
I thought it was for the contacts program and not just the dialer...maybe thats why I am confused

OK. well dialer.apk and contacts.apk are dependent on each other. but if you lok in your app drawer you will not see a contacts app. you will see People app. that is different. what you have been using in bugless beast is themed with a black background. this one is just to match the mms and gmail i themed.

When you edit contacts in People app, the background is still white, making it impossible to read/edit.. Also, maybe it's me, but wasn't the display pics in people on the other side before? Like pic, then name instead of name, space, pic?

Hi all,
This is an MIUI v4 theme I've made mostly from scratch (some credits at the bottom of the description). Its basically similar to stock, but where there was white and orange there is now black and blue respectively. I've also sorted out the fonts so there should be no white on white or black on black text issues.
I've not done all of the applications yet, but have done the main ones:
- Framework and Framework-MIUI: Basically themes the majority of the system and native files. This also themes any app that uses stock images.
- SystemUI: Toggles and notification bar etc
- MMS: SMS and MMS messages etc
- Phone and Contacts: Address book, dialler, in-call menus etc.
This is my first ever theme. Its only been tested on a Galaxy Nexus although I have themed the HDPI and XHDPI folders so it should work on most devices - if not let me know the details.
I'm not sure how many more apps I will theme as its quite time consuming. It all depends on whether there are people out there who like this and want to see more or whether I'm doing this only for myself. If you want me to theme any more apps, post a comment on Deviant Art ideally saying you likey. Comments welcome.
DOWNLOAD LINK: http://originalsource.deviantart.com/art/Beastly-Black-MIUI-v4-326473269 When you download change the file extension from .zip to .mtz and then copy into your device's Theme folder.

Wallpaper isn't mine. It's called Sparkle and I thought I got it from DA or InterfaceLIFT, but I cannot find it. If anyone can, please let me know so I can give the appropriate credit.

Thank you.
I went to MIUI hoping for something like this but every theme I tried didn't work properly on the Galaxy Nexus. Figured if no-one else was going to do it I would. Its just soooo time consuming. Not helped because I'm not particularly talented - just persistent and determined to get as much pixel perfect as possible.
I have noticed a few minor visual issues where other apps use part system resources and part of their own (therefore thinking they are gonna get a white background and so have a black icon, and then get white). This is mostly google apps, which I am planning on adding to a later release assuming the community wants me to continue.
Just wish there was a way to monetize this to make it more viable to spend the time to get everything just perfect.
It didn't let me flash it.

This is for MIUI only at the moment. You download the zip, change the extension to .mtz and copy into the Theme folder. And bingo, MIUI does the rest.
It probably is possible for me to create a flashable zip to just change the appropriate resources but I haven't really looked into it yet. Focus is on getting the MIUI theming sorted. Not all things will work obviously as stock Android doesn't have notification toggles etc.

Pleased you liked in. Have posted a minor update to sort out some of the toast popups, copy paste dialogue etc.
Have been struggling to try and find a way to fix the white on white on the gmail settings - no solution as yet though. Looks to be that the background is hard coded. Will try and find something to sort that one out.
It looks great but I'm unable to have it recognized in themes. I've been on miui for years and renaming it didn't work, running sgs3 miui v4...
Very odd. That's the first I've heard of that issue. Changed the extension from .zip to .mtz and copied to Themes folder right? Perhaps force close Themes and see if it appears when it re-opens.

I might do eventually. Priority is getting the core apps sorted. Then the most commonly used ones in for XHDPI (G Nex). Then consider icons, wallpaper, lock screen, screen keys etc.
Stuck on gmail settings at the moment.
Any idea what type of thing you think would work well for screen keys?

I thought i would post this for everyone, even if it isnt a massive deal and probably not something most need... We were all noobs once, so if it helps someone get their phone a little closer to what they want... Or if it helps get someone into making a theme... Then i cant say having this up is a bad thing at all...
So its a simple MOD that will allow you to add your own holo dark images to any ROM... Yes, this will even work for those of you running a theme... Where you maybe don't like the holo dark image(s) used...
Simple instructions for a simple MOD...
- Download "MyBackground.zip" from here and save it to your computer!
- Download the "HoloImages.zip" from here and save it to your computer...
- Drag and drop the two images from "HoloImages.zip" onto your desktop and edit them however you like! (Id stay at 720x1280 or stock 500x500)

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Now open each Image and edit as you wish! I would recommend a simple program like GIMP or Paint.net to edit .png files...
- Once you have your image(s) just right, save them...
- Now open "MyBackground.zip" with 7-zip or WinRAR (WinfRAR seems to work better for VRtheme stuff)
- Go into:
Code:
vrtheme -> system -> framework -> framework-res.apk -> res -> drawable-nodpi
- Add your new images (it will override the current images)
- Once added, save "MyBackground.zip".... "As"... That means change the name of the zip and save it as a new file...
- Drop this into your phones storage and boot into recovery!
- Backup... Duh...
- Flash...
- Enjoy!
The absolute worst thing that can happen, is it simply won’t work... I suggest a backup, just because its a good idea... That said you really can’t even boot-loop if you follow the above... If the image(s) are named wrong, or the wrong file type... It simply won’t work... The holo background you had previous to a your flash... Will simply still be present..
NOTE: If your ROM had a transparent holo, this MOD will NOT break it... If you flashed a theme with a transparent level... Again this will NOT break it... Simply set your image(s) to the desired transparent level...
pics would be nice

How it looks is completely up to you... All theme work is trial and error... What you think looks great on your laptop, may not look great in the background of your settings or dial keypad...
Here is a sample showing stock black... To a more Touchwiz blue... As i think this is where Samsung went wrong... A simple attempt to match their blue inside the background completely changes the look of Touchwiz... Its cleaner... Its vibrant... Its still classy...
But in the end, it really does loop back around to you as a user, and what you think looks good... I can post screen shots all day, and never once hit the mark with everyone...

Is there a way you could post the background image that you used in this screenshot? That looks simply perfect but my computer is out of service and I would love to use it for my note 2 background in settings

Black font on Recent call tab
I don't know if the question was asked before but the font for phone numbers in Recent call tab is in black and not visible at all. How can I change that

To fix: in system/app on your phone rename htccontacts.apk to HtcContacts.apk and reflash the theme.
This will be fixed with next ViperOne ROM update.
Any chance you noticed the fix for HtcDialer.apk in RedVenom thread?
If not, please use the attached images in next theme update.

Sorry mate, forgot to reply earlier. That's the same png as the keys. It just looks like that because it's stretched more than the others.

May i ask you how did you get the 6 signal bar theme??
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just wondering if anyone can help me out on a little issue I am having, although I have to say it's due to no fault of this AWESOME theme but more my quest for itty bitty pixels!
I've been playing around trying to get my DPI down to 360 and the last piece of the jigsaw after messing with App Settings is the background colour for the text boxes, which for some reason are coming up nearly white instead of black which obviously makes white text rather hard to read! This is definitely DPI related because as soon as you go to 370+ on the DPI through ViperONE the text boxes become black as they should.
Is there any solution?

When you say it's DPI, have you encountered this on a previous version of this theme or on another theme? And is this problem occurring only in the donate popup box? Then donate and problem fixed

Thank you.
Can you make a zip with the lower panel as well. I believe it's a matte background and the stock one is glossy.

Icon Labels
Is there an easy way to change the icon label text color to any color I want
Please note: these themes offer the ability to apply tweaks colour presets when flashing the theme. These will apply shortly after boot. If you are thinking of choosing this option in aroma, it is highly recommended that you reset the colours tweaks before flashing by going to Tweaks > Colours Tab > Menu > Reset to default.
ViperLight Theme Download Centre
All Light Themes can be downloaded here. Many thanks to @Whiskey103 for providing all the Viper themers with somewhere to upload to! Please note that any themes you download from here match your ROM version: DO NOT flash a 5.x.x theme on a 6.x.x ROM, there will be issues.

PLEASE NO REQUESTS FOR OTHER COLOURS....HAVE ENOUGH ON MY PLATE AT THE MOMENT
I present to you my ViperLight theme. This theme has been tucked away in the ViperOne theme thread for a while now, but have given it it's own thread, so I can add to it with different colour options etc. Most themes out there at the moment are inverted, so this just offers something different. There are a few bugs, but nothing that should stop it being used as a daily driver.
The theme isn't as light as I would have liked, have had to keep some of the context menus dark to avoid running in to problems with third party apps etc.

Agreed... But on my request, can you change the colour of the text "CALL" on the dialer as to make it visible.
Meanwhile, I am trying to understand the virtuous ten studio tools... And getting help from Raymond Ebertt sir... I even dont know what should i load, the dialer from your theme or from the rom itself....

Yeah will fix the call colour. I can add a little colour to the dialer by changing colours of the letters and a couple of symbols. Screen below:
If you want to mod my theme, then pull the dialer from your device when it is themed. If you want to do it from scratch, then use the stock one from ROM.
looks GOOD
Can you please share it?

Awesome theme! Great job Basil3!
The only issue I had after flashing the theme was that my transparent weather clock widget turned non-transparent. I tried reflashing it and now it disappeared from the widget list. Quite sure this is not the right forum thought I posted my experiences. Can someone help me out?
