[Q] Can't connect to PC :S - Sprint LG Optimus G

I just bought a LGOG from a friend and just noticed that it's impossible for my win8 laptop to recognize the device... I tried using my wife's ol' Win7 powered netbook without luck.
As anyone been through this and found a solution for this issue? I've tried all the versions available and none of them work. I'm running an AMD powered 64 bit Win8 laptop (my wife's netbook runs on an Intel processor.)
Thanks in advance for the help.

Did you install the drivers? http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LS970

Try a different pc. Mine is detected half the time on our laptop. My son's laptop detects it every time. These phones are a little difficult at times.

Already tried in the only two laptops I have. I'll see if I can find another one... tho' I just figured how to roam and that was the only reason I wanted to root this BEAST!!!

I have tried in 3 different computers already and nothing. windows 8 or 7.... all drivers (three files) installed normal and as admin and still nothing...

anyhelp!?!?

This happened to me on my first lgog. Turned out it was a broken pin. Best thing to do now, if you have insurance, is to get it replaced. I know you probably don't want to hear this but trust me I know how you feel.
idk how I got here...

well. actually i bought it second hand... so i dont have insurance... but oh well... im jut going to give it to my wife and go back to my rooted gnex so i can keep using the custom prl... im able to set it to roam using the 3845#*910# trick but its sooooo slow...

Please dont feel insulted but sometimes going back to the basics is necessary, did you select usb debuging on developer options?

*Solved* Won't connect to pc.

Hey, well i've had my evo for awhile now, up until about a month ago, it would connect to the computer with no problem. Now when i plug it up it just charges, the usb icon doesn't pop up in the corner. In the settings connect to pc, Ask me is check and default is disk drive, and i've tryed charge only as well. I have no clue why it stopped connecting to the computer and just charges. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Sounds like a driver issue.
Uninstall them and reinstall them.
Will try, thanked anyway.

It's very likely considering that the port obviously works.
Yeah, I agree. I just have one problem I don't wanna see like a little 10 year old annoying kid. But I just got into the rooting community and such. My phone is unrooted at the moment so do you have any idea where I could get these drivers?

Damn 10 year olds!
lol only kidding.
http://www6.sprint.com/downloads/htc/executables/htcsync2.0.35.exe should work.
More updated ones would be here:

Thanks again.
Edit: Even being hooked up to HTC Sync it won't recognize it's hooked up to a computer. Just charging i've tried multiple computers as well. I plug it up put default on HTC Sync and HTC Sync still says, connect device.. so frustrating.

WiFi file explorer won't fix your problem but will let you transfer files back and forth over WiFi. My Ian port has been messed up for awhile this has been my fix.
Swyped from my Orange Peeled Synergist EVO
I have been experiencing this very issue for almost a month now. Hard, reset, reinstalled drivers, done it all but to no avail. (wife's Evo connects with ease; Win7 sp1)
Been thinking that the usb por is broken - but I can still charge. I can adb and transfer over wi-fi. Only thing wish I could do wirelessly was qpst.
Anyway, I am happy just as long as I can charge the evo. If that changes, then I will get a repair done for $40.
Hope this really isn't the case.
Most likely is a busted usb port, same thing happened to one of the evo's I worked with. Charging fine but will not get discovered by any computers(tried multiple computers with multiple usb cables), but when pushing the cable into the port all my force windows recognized the phone but gave an error for "unknown device", had to actually get another usb port and repair it myself (better than paying $100), drivers definitely not the case here
Thanks everyone! Just gonna go pay 100$ for a new one. I was really wanting to root so if I can't without it being hooked to a computer might as well get a new one.

Why would you pay $100?
If you pay the $8 take it to the Sprint store and they'll look at it.
The $100 is for physical/water damage or lost/stolen phone.
Reboot your phone and go to running services and make sure calendar sync is still running. I don't know why but if you stop that from running it won't connect to your P.C.
I have something running called calendar, but can't find calendar sync? Same thing or?

They probably start with a refurb, and if none are in stock, they'll order you a new one.

What should i do?

So I've been having my epic unrooted for a while now.......when I first paid 100 dollars to get it fixed.....I tried rooting it but it would not work.....and it ended up bricking my epic.....I got a new one for free since the screen turned black and did not show signs of tampering(luckily) and now I want my ics set up I had before...what should I do? I don't want to brick It again....

By a blackberry cable for it. Bad cables imo are the only real cause of true bricks.

asurion charges 100 bucks for a new one.....and how long do you think you would take for a service like that? would be interested.....

Not sure could be the drivers if you have any other mobile drivers unistall them and only install the drivers found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Also could be you need a new cable or need to use a different usb port if you haven't tried that. Clean the usb ports on the pc and the epic. There are some variables that can cause it not to detect.

i'm using my samsung moment cable with no problems. I got my 5th epic and thought I bricked it 3 times so far. but I popped the battery out plugged the phone into the pc and bam dl mode. but qbking has awesome videos I would try re installing the drivers. dont give up.

The computer makes all the difference in the world, believe it or not. I thought I had bricked my phone on one computer then successfully odined it on another using the same exact files I used on the first one, copied files over through my home network from one comp to the other not new downloads, and the same USB cable. Worked like a charm like it always does on that computer.

[Q] USB going crazy?

Okay, bear with me, as I got this phone today. I tried to use the USB to copy files and such. When I plugged the phone into the computer, it started opening stuff, and would not respond to touches. What do I do? Should I just get a replacement? I eventually was just able to bear with it by using the option to use the phone from the computer.

Are you using the USB cable that came with the phone? Try using a different cable, or a different USB port on the computer, or even a different computer to see if the problem still occurs.
This sounds like the kind of problem that occurs when you use a bad USB cable.

If the laptop doesn't solve the problem, then I'd probably get the phone exchanged. Good luck.

Along with checking the cables, make SURE you're plugging into a properly powered USB port on your computer/laptop. I have, on occasion had similar issues when using a USB Hub that wasn't properly plugged-in to power so the phone acted up.
Good luck!

If two other phones work properly with all the same variables then I would say the Nitro is the problem.

How do you guys like the Nitro? Is it a good overall phone, or should I get another device while I still have a chance! ( keeping in mind, I got this phone because of its price($.97))

USB malfunction

Hey guys sorry for the noob question but I'm pretty worried here cus last time this happened to me everything went straight to crap.
I plug my phone in to my laptop and turn on mass storage so I can copy files from my computer to my phone but it keeps saying that my phone malfunctioned and that windows does not recognize it.
Is there something I can do to solve this?
Thanks guys.
Edit: running cyanogen rc1.

Try different cords, a different usb port on your computer and make sure drivers are installed
Also wrong forum this should be in q&a
Drivers are installed unless they were changed in the past few months. I only have the cable it came with and trying different ports gave me the same message.

Samsung cables usually aren't the best try buying an HTC or blackberry cable.
Drivers get corrupted very easily. Delete and let them reinstall with a good cable.

I've had nothing but problems on 2 different Galaxy Note 2 phones since I installed the drivers from the SPH-L900 toolbox.
I have trouble believing that this is normal. Mine was fine until I rooted it with the toolbox. Now, I don't want to take anything away from the developers that created the toolbox...If it wasn't for them and their immense generosity, then I wouldn't have a rooted phone. I just fail to see what has happened between having the phone stock without root and it having zero issues with hardware id missing and being able to be recognized by my pc, to the quick toolbox root and the same troubles with 2 different phones in 2 weeks.
I don't say for certain, but it looks like they use the same software: USB GS3: ver 1.5.14 versus GN2 USB ver 1.5.14. Thus, you'll probably be ok.

Actually no. I'm using the cheapy i keep always attached to my pc. I have to use the one that came with the phone with the mhl adapter because the cheapy cord has too much resistance and not enough power goes through which causes excessive battery drain
