S-Pen trigger app with aoSP - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I am loving Beanstalk and I have been using Catch as a replacement for smemo. Is there any app or system setting that would launch Catch(or any specific app) when the S-Pen is removed?

Smart Statusbar for AOSP ROMS

I got really tired of waiting for Samsung to release the JB update for my Bell Canada S3 and installed Task's AOKP ROM. I love the ROM and prefer the stock Google experience but miss some of the cool features Samsung added, mainly the ability to show the status bar in a fullscreen apps such as a game. Here is a video for those that don't know about this feature.
I have always been annoyed that i had to press the home button and exit out of my game/video to answer a text, change songs or whatever else might pop up on the notification bar and found myself using this allot when i got the S3, switch to AOKP i needed this back. Its just so simple and i'm surprised its not a native feature in Android.
But thankfully there is an app for that called Smart Statusbar which works well on my S3 and its free. I have tried this in MX Player and all my ga,mes like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Dead Trigger etc and it works on all.
TIP: Swipe from the bezel down and not from the top of the touch screen.
Thanks for the info. I am downloading the app now and going to try it out.

this was one of the features i missed the most coming from iOS to android.
Thank you very much!
Nice find!

Anyone notice lag with this when in full screen games?

nope
Thanks for the info.... its a great help////
just to point out it works on Android 4.2
Hopefully not a huge necropost, but this feature actually wasn't removed.
You have to swipe TWICE in stock TW. I used this app for a while before discovering it here:

I'd have fewer apps installed, but to each his own.

Torch App

Does anyone have recommendations for a torch (flashlight) app?
I really like the one that CM10.1 has, but when I tried to install it on a Touchwiz ROM it keeps force closing. It works on the CM10.1 nightlies for the GS4.
Isnt there stock widget for torch ?

I have many app ideas, but don't have the skill or the time to learn how to make an app. if you would like to know an idea and attempt to make one, just message me.
I like the stock torch widget. It's a little bit ugly but it turns on instantly when you press the widget. Others take a second to light up.

I used OI Flashlight app since it is open source app. It does the work just fine for me. Make sure you change option to use hardware flashlight.

What are good S-Apps Replacement?

I've recently switched from a touch wiz based rom (Jedi Master 14) to Aosp (liquid smooth) so far I'm loving the switch but i miss some of benefits of a tw rom like smemo. Any alternative suggestions for s-apps and s-pen functionality?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
Papyrus and GMD Spen control
Why did you switch to aosp? I went rom shopping when I missed group text. Then I also started missing tw stuff
I found if u use things with the spen or anything like snote or quick shortcuts like holding the power and home button to snap a shot and others.. Aosp won't have it but alternatives but it means going thru some apps to find the right one or multiple apps to do what u wanna get it done.. Just like how I love to trace out images with the spen . Only the tw roms do it.. Now if that gets integrated to Aosp roms.. I'm sold.. But Tw is much easier for me.. But miss the settings of aosp

Halo/PIE/Torch possible on sense?

Hey all, it's my understanding that Halo and PIE are built to work on AOSP based roms. I would love to go back to the stability and bonus features of sense, but having to have the menu button eyesore at the bottom of most apps is a deal-breaker. Is there any possibility of getting these addons working on a sense based rom? If not, are there any apps with similar features that can be used with sense?
I would also like to add a torch option on the quick settings menu if that could be done. I realize I can download a flashlight app, but I have been spoiled with having quick access to it on iOS 7 and AOSP.
Flash bonestock. It has a torch toggle, and also go to settings, display, and check "longpress home for menu"

Floating Notifications is an app that is as close as you can get to Halo. There is a free trial period for about 30 days.
As far as pie control, I think there is a launcher called LMT Launcher in the play store that has a pie-like fixture.

LMT launcher works, but it's not in the play store. it's on XDA though. just search for it.
pie control (which is in the play store) works as well, just not as neat as LMT.
sometimes, though, with LMT, it takes a few tries to get an app to start. it's annoying. if pie control showed the time and other notifications like LMT does, it'd be so much better.
Both of these look good. Do they allow you to disable the stock menu button?

My bad. It know it was included in a rom I was using at some point (can't remember which one) and it had been floating around in my TiB for a while now. I assumed it was available in play store as well.

Do you mean the three dots button? You can install a custom rom to do that or xposed has several modules that let you do that. Try Sense 5 Toolbox module.

there are no 3 dots on bottom of screen on my ROM.
technically yes, they can be ported, for example IHTFP69 ported HALO to TW on Samsung. No one said it could be done, he is a genius.
Try my ROM out, if you don't like it, try another.

I just finished downloading your rom and making a nandroid backup. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks for all the suggestions! I've been trying to hold off until 4.3 but with the recent delay it's just not worth waiting anymore.

It will be at least another month maybe 2 before we see 4.3
Replying here instead of in your thread in case anyone else is searching for this answer.
I am loving the rom so far, but I have two questions. The menu bar is gone almost everywhere, but it's still present in dolphin browser. Is there any way to fix that? It doesn't show at all on AOSP. LMT launcher is every bit as good as pie and the menu button being there prevents it from working properly.
I also don't seem to have a torch/flashlight widget in the quick settings. There is an app though which I can make work for me if there's no way to get it in quick settings. Just a minor personal preference.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I got the menu bar removed by changing a setting under display and gestures. It has the unfortunate side effect of making a long press on the home key open the menu as well, but it's still better than the always-present menu button.
