I had some issues with usb as well when I was testing the tool out, but It was fixed after a while, its actually not the tool but the way of mounting usb on the i9505. I fixed it by replacing the adb.exe file with the latest one (which is also included in the zip tho). Can you please test for me if your able to get a normal adb shell? (open cmd window in the quickflasher dir and type "adb shell"), if it says device not found there is an issue with debugging mode. if not then you should test this and pls give me the info:
adb get-state (should return "device")
adb devices (should return a connected device)
If you get negative results here you should kill adb.exe (taskkill /f /im adb.exe for group kill) and try again.
If it does work pls enter:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell
and tel me what you see.
The usb mode is a struggle on the i9505.. I thought hey lets upgrade to CM so I will have mass storage mode.. but no way, only MTP and PTP... (I added the Mass storage option and forced it to be available on my private build, but it still doesn't work..)
Currently trying to find out how to permanently enable oldskool mass storage + adb.

ah so you have the emulator in there as well.. thats the problem. to bypass the emulator use:
adb -d
for example adb -d shell or adb -d get-state
do you have an AVD emulator running currently?

Edit: I had bluestacks installed a while back, but uninstalled it, could this have left some crap behind after it?

Hmm the emulator that comes with android sdk, is afaik the only one who can correspond with adb, but it would be odd if you ran it all the time.
check taskmgr, and look for emulator.exe/java.exe, to be sure also kill adb.
You can check if there is an existing emulator if you start AVD manager (if you don't have android sdk at all then its really strange )

Ok the output is good. ill add a function to the tool to force adb usb connection
for the meanwhile you can use:
(put boot.img in adb dir)
adb -d push boot.img /sdcard/boot.img
adb -d shell su -c 'dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p20'
adb -d shell reboot

boot.img = mmcblk0p20
recovery.img = mmcblk0p21
the name of the .img doesn't matter but the partition is important.
Ahh, looking at your image, this now makes sense, I can see the destination partition names as you describe..
Well have a go at this later, unless you plan to release an update later today?

Hi brood,
just stumbled upon this thread and read about Snakefood's problem.
Although he worked around the error by using Odin I want to give you a hint regarding this specific problem:
he obviously has an adb device installed called emulator-5554 but which is offline. He already gave himself the correct answer:
"I had bluestacks installed a while back, but uninstalled it, could this have left some crap behind after it?"
My diagnose is: yes, BlueStacks definitely leaves a lot of crap behind and does NOT uninstall cleanly. I tested it once and I saw myself compelled to restore an older windows image which I made BEFORE I installed BlueStacks on my windows machine.
BTW: BlueStacks is an Android emulator for Windows but a piece of *%$~#!!! crap, but that's just my humble opinion.
And BlueStacks uses such an adb emulator device entry although I'm not sure if it was called like that. But BlueStacks is not the only Android emulator and most probably other programs of this kind create such an adb entry as well.

Hi Skywalker.
Long time no see . Anyways, OT. I have installed BlueStacks once (in the alpha or beta phase I believe) and I don't remember much of it but I do remember that it was crap idd. Also that it leaves "traces" (if you call adb a trace xd, more like a fail uninstall ) is very lame.. and causing problems for people who are not 100% familiar with adb and its daemon.
The AVD Emulator from the SDK may lag a bit but atleast it doesn't interfere with adb :silly:

You should first look in msconfig (start > run > msconfig) at the startup tab and look if there is any startup item from bluestacks.
If there is nothing there look in services.msc (start > run > services.msc) and check for any blue stacks service, and if there is any, disable it.
Next to that you can also use HijackThis (http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/) to find startup items. hope it helps

I've spent hours trying to workout how to use adb
I'm using Amon_RA's recovery image and want to run a BART backup but it forces you to use adb, which i can't workout
help please!!!
Did you download the Android SDK for OS X?
Please give us some more information, such as the steps you've taken and any errors or other information you get from the Terminal.
yes i have downloaded the sdk from the website
but everytime i even check what devices are connected etc it fails
i open terminal, drag the tools folder into it, it then ses its created a directory
when i try to put in the commands "adb devices" or "bart" however, it ses there is no such command
do i need to put my phone into recovery, or mass storage or something
im stumped
You need to add the tools directory to PATH variable on your computer
Here's how you do it (the alternative way is easier):
Run this in Terminal
Code:
cd
nano .bash_profile
a text editor will open. add this:
Code:
export PATH=${PATH}:/path-to-android-sdk/tools
where you replace "path-to-android-sdk" with the real path.
Alternatively you could run this command in the terminal:
Code:
echo -e "\nexport PATH=${PATH}:/path-to-android-sdk/tools" >> .bash_profile
What you have done is to tell the shell to also look inside the tools directory when entering a command
Oh, in addition to Repp's suggestions, I know in Linux (and I dunno about everyone else) I need to be root to run adb properly. So maybe become root on the Mac. To do so, you need to be an Admin user, not a regular user, and at the Terminal, type
Code:
sudo -s
and then enter your user password when prompted.
okay ive done that, i dont know if it came back with the right response tho
i tried the first method and got into the text editor, i then typed what you said and it returned no response, i dont know if this is correct?
if so what do i do next?
Rather than altering your path, you can also navigate to the sdk/tools directory and run adb like so:
Code:
./adb devices
But you have to be inside the directory where the "adb" command lies.
Also, see my note above regarding root users.
Aah sorry. Just save and exit (press Ctrl+X and answer yes to whether or not you want to save). You could also try the alternative way.

I have always used it as normal user and it has worked. Don't know why you would need to be root
how dyou get into the directory?
i usually just drag the tools folder into terminal.
is this correct?

Yeah, it's weird, but it works for me.
You change directory in the terminal with the command cd. So if I wanted to go to the Desktop directory I would write:
Code:
cd ~/Desktop
(~ is like a shortcut for your home directory which is the same as the directory /Users/your-username)
Did any of the methods work (they should )?
to repp, ive done that, all i need to know now is how to use the bart backup function from Amon_RA's recovery image, in adb

Unfortunately I have never done that so I can't help you there
how can i check if it worked?
Just run adb from any directory which is not the tools directory.
For example:
Code:
cd
adb devices
where the first line (cd) changes directory to your home directory (the command cd without a path does that) and the other one should list connected devices. As long as it doesn't say
Code:
-bash: adb: command not found
or anything like that, you should be fine
EDIT: If you want to use adb, you don't have to do the "cd" part first. This time only
its working now i can seee what devices i have
Code:
Dans-MacBook:tools Dan$ ./adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
HT98DL900002 device
but the main reason i want to use it, is to use it with Amon_RA's recovery
i neeed to do a BART backup so i can switch from the 2.1 rom from lox too 3.0 from modaco
I have never used BART, but unless I'm mistaken, it does almost the same thing as a nandroid backup (?). You could try that instead. Don't know about Amon_RA, but it's possible from MoDaCo's fastboot (linked to and explained how to install here)
other than that, there's nothing I can do

Take the "android-sdk-windows" folder and move it to the root of your hard drive (C:\)
Right click on My Computer and click properties
Select the Advanced Tab or Advanced System Setting (Vista/Windows 7)
Select Environment Variables...
Press New
For Variable Name type: adb
For Variable Value type: C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
Now,
1. Run SDK Manager.exe located in the android-sdk-windows folder
2. If it gives you an error go to settings and click on "Force http//....."
3. Select all options and let it download and install
If you cant get the setup to work, Download the USB-DRIVERS folder - HERE (Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preparing your phone for ADB
Go to Settings on your phone
Select Applications
Select Development
Make sure 'USB Debugging' is checked
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing Drivers
Plug in your phone through USB and DO NOT MOUNT IT!!!!!
Your computer should see a new device and try to install Android 1.0 driver (If it doesnt, scroll down to the "Im not getting a notification of Android ADB when i plug in my USB" section)
Let it load
Once it cant find them select "Install drivers from my pc"
The drivers you need are in the Android SDK 1.5r2 folder (C:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver)
Depending on your OS pick x86 or amd64
You ADB Android Device should now be installed! Good Job
For Android SDK 1.5r7+
1. Run SDK Manager.exe
2. If it gives you an error go to settings and click on "Force http//....."
3. Select all options and let it download and install
If you cant get the setup to work, Download the USB-DRIVERS folder - HERE (Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7)

Check if your phone is detected by ADB
Open up Command Prompt (Go to run, type in cmd, press enter)
Type in
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools === Press Enter
adb devices === You should see your device listed
adb shell === you should see # in the next line
Now you are all set to run adb commands
Note: for a list of commands type in 'adb' in cmd
CONGRATS YOU NOW HAVE ADB FULLY RUNNING!

"Im not getting a notification of Android ADB when i plug in my USB"
Why: Your computer has detected your phone but as a protable device and as a storage device.
Fix: This took me a lot of research and time to figure out so this is what your are going to do.
First download USBDeview - Here
Unzip it
Run USBDeview.exe as Administrator
You will see all drivers being used on your computer
Highlight and Uninstall all drivers with the description have HTC Android (Should be 3 of them)
Right Click on the driver and press uninstall
Once done, Unplug your phone and plug it back in
You should now get the notification of the ADB device
Follow the steps above to install the drivers
Still not working?
Try this: Get ADB to recognize your myTouch 4G [Thanks importflip]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Typing just adb in cmd you will get whats called a "usage doc" which gives you a lits of commands that you can use:

I had to do this:

It seemed to work for me when I copied the HTCDriver.exe from the storage card to my PC and install the drivers. My device showed up as some letters and numbers, which is ok I guess I have not named or done anything to the device.
Amazing write up. ABD has always gave me a hard time. I will be following this write up when I get time to root this. Thanks a lot!

Four things:
1. You don't need the generic drivers from the SDK package. I haven't even tried them. You need the HTC Drivers on the SD card.
2. I start adb by SHIFT-right clicking on the tools directory in the SDK folder and selecting 'start command prompt here' in the contextual menu. In order to see if things are working, just type 'adb devices' to see if the HTC device is connected.
3. I don't need to disable mounting of the device. I can adb and have the SD card mounted on the PC at the same time.
4. I don't see the need to add the environmental variable. Perhaps I've done something wrong, but theoretically, by adding this variable, you should just be able to type 'adb' in any command prompt window and have the system recognize adb. I can't seem to get that to work. So, instead I just do #2 above.

It says can not recognize ADB. I have had the SDK and ADB on my PC for months.

Sounds like you aren't in the directory that adb is in when you type it. try going into the tools directory in your sdk and run the command from there.

You don't click on it. It's a utility to use in command line. What it does is makes it easier to enter commands (along with some other useful stuff). Basically, anything you would type in terminal you can type in command line on your pc with "adb shell" pre-face. For example:
In terminal: cd /system/app
In command line: adb shell cd /system/app
Makes sense? You should really read up some guides out there

Hey sorry about the driver problems... i wrote this guide based on the Nexus one and T-Mobile G1 and was asked to repost it here. If you let me know exactly what drivers you used i can change it in the OP.
The environmental variables set so that you can run adb and fastboot commands from anywhere in windows without have to be in the tools directory of the sdk. You can press SHIFT or w/e but this is a 1 time solution so u basically never have to be in that directory again...
As for the mounting, it is recommended that you dont mount your SD-Card and use adb for editing system files because that could corrupt your sd card.
Thank you, I got it working. Android is very different from winmo.

This saved me... Constantly had it reverting back to USB storage device, this did the job. Thanks, a little something coming your way...

Like a lot of you, I have been putting off unlocking the bootloader on my Nexus because I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of backing up everything manually and restoring individual application data; logging back into apps; saving settings; etc. I found an undocumented (at least as far as my googling was able to find) feature in the latest version of the ADB platform tools (for Android 4.0+) that allows you to create a full system backup, including app apks, their respective data, as well as the internal storage.
This guide assumes you have already installed the Android SDK, and updated the Android SDK Platform Tools to the latest version (currently Rev 10) using the SDK Manager.

1. Connect your device via USB, and open Terminal.
2. In Terminal, type "cd " with the space and then drag your "platform-tools" folder in the android sdk where the space is, it should look like this "cd /where ever you put the folder/name of you computer/android-sdk-mac-osx/platform-tools". Drag and drop will do this for you, then hit enter.

3. In the same terminal window, type "./adb" and hit enter. A lot of stuff with come up that you really dont need to worry about.
4. Optionally, type the command "./adb devices" to ensure that your device is properly recognized. If you're comfortable with ADB already, just skip this.
The command parameters format is:
./adb backup [-f <file>] [-apk|-noapk] [-shared|-noshared] [-all] [-system|nosystem] [<packages...>]
Click to collapse
The most basic command you can use is simply:
./adb backup -all
Click to collapse
This will use the defaults to backup only app and device data (not the APKs themselves) to the current directory as 'backup.ab'
To explain the parameters:
./adb backup -f <file>
Click to collapse
Use this to choose where the backup file will be stored, e.g. '-f /backup/mybackup.ab', which will save it at the root of your drive (C:\ for Windows, etc.) in a folder called backup, as a file named 'mybackup.ab'. I recommend using this flag to set a location manually, as with my first backup test, it said that it completed successfully, but I was unable to locate the backup file. I have no idea where it was saved, but it wasn't where it should have been located.
./adb backup -apk|-noapk
Click to collapse
This flags whether or not the APKs should be included in the backup or just the apps' respective data. I personally use -apk just in case the app isn't available in the Market, so that I don't have to go hunt it down again. The default is -noapk.
./adb backup -shared|-noshared
Click to collapse
This flag is used to "enable/disable backup of the device's shared storage / SD card contents; the default is noshared.", which for the Nexus I would certainly flag to -shared, but from my test, it did not restore all of the contents of my internal storage, so I recommend backing up music, pictures, video, and other internal storage items manually, just to be on the safe side. The default is -noshared.
./adb backup -all
Click to collapse
This flag is just an easy way to say to backup ALL apps. The packages flag (further on) can be used to choose individual packages, but unless you're just wanting to backup a specific application, use -all for a full system backup.
./adb backup -system|-nosystem
Click to collapse
This flag sets whether or not the -all flag also includes system applications or not. I used -system, but this is probably unnecessary, and I would almost guess that it is safer to use -nosystem, but use your own judgment on this. The default is -system.
./adb backup <packages...>
Click to collapse
Here you can list the package names (e.g. com.google.android.apps.plus) specifically that you would like to backup. Use this only if you're looking to backup a specific application.
3. Once you've made your decision on how to perform the backup, simply type the command as you would like it; in my case, this is the command that I used:
./adb backup -apk -shared -all -f /c/backup20111230.ab
or
./adb backup -apk -shared -all -----------and then just search for it in finder.
Click to collapse
4. You will see a screen like the following:
5. Enter a password (if desired) for encryption of the backup file. RETAIN THIS PASSWORD FOR RESTORING LATER.
6. This process will take several minutes to complete, depending on the settings you've chosen, but when completed, you should get a toast on-screen saying 'Backup Complete', or if you miss that, you'll know once your command line has returned.
7. Now go unlock your bootloader (not going to go into the process for this guide, but you probably know how already, and if not, there are several guides a search away).
8. Once you're booted back into Android, you can choose to add your account now, or skip that for later. I skipped it for later, but I think it might make the process more smooth to sign in before the restore. YMMV.
9. To restore, with your device connected open your command prompt again, and type:
./adb restore /backup/mybackup.ab
Click to collapse
replacing '/backup/mybackup.ab' with the location of your backup file.
10. You will see a screen like the one below:
11. Simply type in your current encryption password (if you've set one), and the password with which the backup was encrypted (if you chose to set a password), and the restore will begin. It again will take several minutes depending on the size of the backup and the options chosen.
12. You're back to normal, short of possibly some widgets on the home screen. My wallpaper was even restored, my app folders remained just as I had them before, my alarms remained, and for most applications, I didn't even have to log back in; it kept everything.
________________________
NOTE: I did have an issue with not all files being restored to the Internal Storage; in particular, the Gallery still displayed all the folders and files that it had cached (which it expected to be there) as only gray boxes, and would not display the images, nor would it rescan the media. I simply copied the files back to the Internal Storage directory manually, and all was well again. Again, YMMV.
NOTE : Also to note, this will not back up SMS messages, so if you're concerned about those, you may want to look into an alternative application to back up SMS.
Hope this is able to help! If so, give me a thanks )) and let me know how your experience goes.

I couldn't get it to work no matter how much I tried. I could connect and see the device but when I ran the command, all I would get was a list of commands. I finally found a way upgrade the sdk by:
./android update sdk --no-ui
Then it worked perfectly!!

Yeah, after I updated the sdk, it worked perfectly! Thanks!!
I'm completely new to this. I downloaded the SDK manager and the Platform tools.
Terminal opened automatically with the manager. Then I did number 2 which worked fine.
After that when I type the commands from number 3 and 4 nothing happens when I hit enter. Any help would be appreciated.
Is it possible my Mac doesn't see the Nexus. Is the Nexus supposed On or Off by the way, I had it On.

Code:
./adb devices [enter]
Will tell you if its connected (per #3).
If #2 works properly and it navigates to your platform-tools folder, then you should be able to type ./adb [enter] and have all of th ADB commands come up. If not, you haven't properly updated/installed the SDK, or you haven't navigated to the folder properly.

No matter what I type nothing runs. Even when I try the update command from the SDK Readme.txt that came in the ZIP - "tools/android update sdk --no-ui" nothing happens.
Could there be something wrong with my Terminal.

Probably not, I would just try to delete the whole android_sdk folder and re-download it, even though it may take some time, it will be worth it if it works!

One thing that I noticed, I had my Nexus plugged in through a USB hub, and I was seeing the same behavior you described. I then plugged it in directly into my laptop and I was able to see it. May or may not apply to your situation.
Alright so an update to my previous comment.
I was able to follow this guide and create a backup, unlock the boot loader and root the phone successfully. I am now in the process of restoring my backup, however when I type in:
./adb devices
in the terminal, nothing is listed. Therefore, I am unable to restore my back up. Any ideas on what may be going on?
EDIT: Figured it out, I forgot to re-enable USB debugging after my phone was wiped

Entering commands in terminal doesn't work. Even before having to conect the phone just entering the update commands in terminal doesn't do anything. I have no clue.

Ok, so it is not literally; cd /Users/name/Desktop/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools if thats not where it is; in terminal just type "cd " then just drag the platform-tool folder into the terminal and you should get something that LOOKS like cd /Users/name/Desktop/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools but if thats not where it is, it will have a different path. Does that help?

go to a ubuntu PC open terminal type "lsusb".
now connect your device via usb cable and type "lsusb" again.( without quotes)
Give me the output in both the cases.
I may have something for you guys very soon.

if you dont have ubuntu pc try this on a 32 bit windows pc
http://downloads.yahoo.com/software/windows-web-tools-lsusb-s577074
download it and then run it. I think it will do the job. And then post the outputs here.
But i would recommend to use ubuntu pc. and lsusb command from ubuntu terminal.
Try it asap and share your outputs here.
Anyone with the outputs for ubuntu??
if you are on a windows Pc you may download cygwin (google it and install it)
then you can get the lsusb command working (I am not sure of this)....Somebody please try the device with ubuntu pc or anyother linux based operating system.

steps to unroot your device :--
1. first of all install Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html (make sure you have JDK installed)
->Follow all the steps there carefully and you will have a working SDK.
2. Remove all the android USB drivers installed on your device by the software in the attachment. -> http://www.2shared.com/file/mZdgGZG3/usbdeview.html
3. Now connect your device to PC and install Micromax's official drivers (you will get an auto-run prompt for the driver installation on connecting your device.
4. Now download the attachment here and put it into the C:/Users/(your_name)/.android.
-->.android folder you should get automatically NO NEED TO MAKE A NEW FOLDER...if the ".android" folder is not present...please download and install android SDK properly.
now put the file extracted from that zip into the folder ".android".
Restart your PC.
5. goto C:/Users/(your_name)/android-sdk/platform-tools. And open command prompt there.
6. And make sure that the mobile is attached to your PC via usb cable.
7. Type "adb devices" (without quotes).
8. your micromax device should be shown there. Now close the terminal.
9. Download and install this :--http://www.mediafire.com/?jrzuezl8s5t8k0s

tell me wat about the CWM for the phone.......need to backup the stock ROM....
Didn't Work.
Tried that too. It said failed to get shell root... Mate if you could tell me how i could give you my boot.img if that helps i will... else if there's a way to replace it with a unsecured boot.img do tell me.. In all other accounts There's been no bloody way to root this device..
To the contrary micromax ships half of its funbook rooted! And this bloody phone cannot be! God help me!
Did you followed the entire tutorial? If yes, then verify-->>

1. open command prompt in c:/users/ur_name/android-sdk/platform-tools/
2. type abd devices
do you see your device listed there????
tell me yes or no.
If no then make sure you have the SDK installed. do share your outputs.
NOTE : IF YOU HAD DISABLED YOUR USB DEBUGGING MODE EARLIER PLEASE TRY ONCE MORE BY ENABLING THE USB DEBUGGING MODE.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And about supplying the boot.img actually I am aware of commands that will help to get the boot, system, and recover.imgs out of the devices but for running those command we have to root the device first.....I am unaware of any such commands that extracts out these imgs from unrooted devices.

if that also dosent works then try super-one click. (get it from google ) try diffrent versions of it and using different modes like ginger-break etc....its easy to use software.

Nope. No Such luck.
Mate, Anyway i can have a quick chat with you? Um. Yeah debugging is on. And my device is listed. I may be a noob ova here but i'm dumb proof.
Anyway i tried this, superone click, gingerbreak and another batch file that restarts my phone 3 times...
uses a command
Code:
adb shell mv /data/local/tmp /data/local/tmp.bak
adb shell ln -s /data /data/local/tmp
adb reboot
adb shell rm /data/local.prop > nul
adb shell "echo \"ro.kernel.qemu=1\" > /data/local.prop"
adb reboot
It fails at
Code:
adb shell "echo \"ro.kernel.qemu=1\" > /data/local.prop"
command. Zerg rush fails. Gingerbreak just hangs... So since all of the readily available market programs fail i was thinking of another approach where i saw this guy who flashed ICS to his Zopo ZP100 (MediaTek MT6575). The similarity over here is the board. My board is also a MT6575. So i was wondering if flashin it with this would work... (jus askin) Or if there was a chance to port an existing pre-rooted 2.3.6 rom to this board by replacin d drivers or such.. I have no idea but i'm ready to experiment around. Forgive me if i sound dumb... Do reply. And if your in for a quick chat today temme. I'll give you my skype ID somehow..

adb shell chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su
adb shell chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
//UNDO EVERYTHING EXCEPT su
adb shell rm /data/local.prop
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp
adb shell mv /data/local/tmp.bak /data/local/tmp
adb reboot
If your device seems to bootloop, don’t worry, just keep inputting the commands.
If you get a permissions error on the call
adb shell "echo \"ro.kernel.qemu=1\" > /data/local.prop"
then you may try
adb shell rm /data/local.prop
And then try the echo command again. This may be due to having rooted prior without cleaning up properly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If all the above fails download the attachments here and extract it to your platform-tools folder. And run .bat file that is created. May be this would help.
Actually, I dont have the device so please share any errors that you are getting...better still post entire output.

I'm running on the 10.5.10.IN11BA build.
Just get a command shell to your OnePlus 8 Pro through adb, no need for the device to be rooted or anything.
Once you get there, just type:
Code:
am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest
It will launch the FactoryMode app and get you directly to the manual camera test view.
Just press the bottom right icon until you get to the color filter.
I have no doubt there is easier and quicker ways to get the same result, maybe through an apk.
Edit:
As far as I know, this workaround could work on any OnePlus 8 Pro model.
Also, as pointed out by ster88, you also can take videos with the filter, which was not possible with the camera app.
I tried not working. I used th terminal app from google playstore.
Can u specifically provide which app and where.
And anything to enable on developer mode.

Sure !
To enable developper mode, go to "Settings > About phone" and tap the "Build number" until they tell you have developper mode enabled.
Then go to "Settings > System > Developper options" and under "Debugging" enable "USB Debugging" and "Wireless ADB Debugging".
Once that is done, on your computer, download the platform-tools, containing adb here :
Code:
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Once it is downloaded, go inside it with your command line.
If you are doing this wirelessly, get your phone IP address and type:
Code:
adb connect <your-phone-ip-address>
Then if it worked, to know what the transport id of our device is, type :
Code:
adb devices -l
Once you have the transport id, type this to get a shell to your phone:
Code:
adb -t <transport-id> shell
You can get more details on how adb works here:
Code:
https://developer.android.com/studio/command-line/adb
Then when you have access to the shell, just type:
Code:
am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest
If everything went fine, you should get access to the camera !
I could not use a terminal app to run the command, usually because the terminal app doesn't want to let the camera application to take over the view, or something like that, not sure.
The ideal would be to have a dedicated apk to run the command, at least for the time being.
Tried to launch using an app called Activity launcher and it didn't work.

I'm not rooted, are you sure this works for non rooted devices? I'll try later with adb to see what happens.
Here is the error from Termux. Hope it can be loaded via apk, not sure if it suffers same restrictions:
$ am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest
Starting: Intent { cmp=com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest }
Warning: Activity not started because the current activity is being kept for the user.
From what I understood, you need to run the command from an adb shell. You cannot run it from within the phone as far as I know.
You can still run it from adb and "lock" the application so it stays in the background.
And I tried with multiple Terminal apps, the command works with none of them (Termux, Terminal Emulator, Material Terminal, etc...)
Apparently, you have some rights on the adb command shell that you don't get as a simple user on the phone.
You man are genius. I found easy way also to keep it running if needed. After getting the camera test to run, you can lock the app so phone will not close it and always return to it. Thanks, finally I can enjoy my camera
Launched it without a computer by using ADB from temux
--no root required

*Enable wireless debugging (wireless doesn't actually need to be on)
Note wireless debugging --takes some time to take effect, sometimes up to 3-5 minutes for me.
*Run the installer above in termux,
*Type adb devices
*Type adb connect 127.0.0.1
*Accept the trusted key
*type adb shell
Troubleshooting:
*If you get an error about multiple devices type adb kill-server
*type adb devices

I've made a script that allows you to launch the Camera from your phone by just typing ./camera in Termux. No root needed. It can be found here: https://github.com/lllsondowlll/OP8_Camera/blob/master/README.md
can u make a video on this how u used termux and what to do whole process screen recording will be helpful coz i am new to this and i dnt wanna mess up with my phone if i lost some files or smthing please make a video i really want to play with IR camera
It works but not really required
It's working, but have few questions to myself.
1. Does it really needed?
Ans: No, you won't keep clicking pics of plastic material to see inside.
2. Is it handy?
Ans: yes, once opened you can pin/lock it in recent app and open whenever required.
It is just a IR camera and nothing wrong in it, I believe OP will enable it in future, because it really doesn't show through the clothes and even if you want to see for some black thin clothes, you need to go near.
So if you are thinking to click the nude people and go closure you will be slapped.
Few images I have taken.

Starting: Intent { cmp=com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest }
Error type 3
Error: Activity class {com.oneplus.factorymode/com.oneplus.factorymode.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest} does not exist.
connected to localhost:5555
error: more than one device/emulator
I ran it as the video shows. But I got an error like above.
Is there any way to solve this problem or is it not possible with IN2020? Please forgive me for using a translator.

I was able to resolve this issue by reinstalling factory mode. I apologize to you for a fuss over. Many thanks to the developers of this method.
Since I can't get termux to work for now, another idea if you want to have it accessible all the time(*), is to run this (beautiful) command with an adb shell from a computer and then lock the app so you can't accidentally close it.
After that you can always go back to it whenever you want it!
*App won't remain locked after reboot, obviously.

I wanna piggyback on this some, since this is similar to the process I just did.
So while this works for nonroot users (I didn't actually test the nonroot version myself), if you are rooted, AND using magisk, I personally install ADB and fastboot binaries from the repo from zackptg5(?) And then just told termux to run an elevated shell (su) and then pasted in the command linked in OP:
Code:
am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest
It then loaded the testmode camera app, and (xXx caused it to crash, I had to disable it but I don't know if it's a setting with my config) voila. It worked! Thank you.
Edit: I wanna say just running termux in root would solve the issue either way still, but, my point still is there.
