I created a folder within the app drawer. But can't figure out how to add apps... Or even delete the folder I created.
Select edit from the menu. You can delete it there. Probably add to it there too.

What rom are you using?
You also have to rename the boot animation to what the old one was before you deleted it and change the permissions.

Im on the mik 2.59
I deleted what i thought was the animation but when i rebooted it still was there...i have no clue where toook i guess...and change permissions?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It may be in a different place on your rom, but on the rom im using, the boot animation is in system/customize/resource. Use root explorer to find it. Make sure you press the "Mount R/W" button at the top and change it to say "Mount R/O" so that way it will let you change permissions and stuff. Delete old boot animation rename yours to whatever the old one was, for example "bootanimation.zip" or htc_bootanimation.zip" After that, long press on your boot animation file and then press "permissions". Change to where it looks like this "rw-r--r--" In other words have "owner, group, and others" all checked on the "read" column. Then check mark "owner" again under the "write" column. That's all that needs to be check marked, uncheck everything else.

I just downloaded es explorer and couldn't find the "system" folder. You may need to download root explorer.

using a file manager(i use root explorer)go to /data/app. this is where all market and side loaded apks are installed. long press the app you wish to move and when menu pops up select move. then back out(do not back out of manager) and goto /system/app and paste here. restart. i like to fix permisions when i restart but may not be neccesary.

So I updated to the new stock build and realized universal search was gone. But after installing Google now it serves just like the universal search. Just in case anybody was wondering.
Is there a way to make it come up when the home button is pressed twice? Like svoice did (I disabled svoice double tap)

To fix the google search goto /system/app/googlequicksearchbox_usa.apk and rename it by deleting the usa at the end. Reboot and back to normal.
I think there is an app in the store that will assign the home key like you want. Cant remember the name though. Search for home key or button reasign and you'll probably find it.
Edit: i think its Home2 Shortcut

Do I have to rename the odex to?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Rename it to odex.bak
It should rebuild it w the renamed one when you reboot. Then delete the .bak file.
You can try renaming the odex the same way and try it. Won't hurt it to try.

That does not work. The bookmarks that are there are the fault bookmarks for that browser. Also when you go to the menu for that browser your instructions do not apply because those options are not there. I wonder did you actually do this yourself or do you not know what I am talking about and just guessing. thanks for giving it a try to help me anyway.

I use the stock browser and wanted to get rid of the tmo default bookmarks. That's what I did and it removed all of it. Actually now that I think about it, I might have went into application manager and cleared all data from the internet app. Try that.
try connect the phone to your home wireless network (if you have) open in the phone KIEs Air , it will give to you a ip xxx.xxx.xxx:8080 , in your pc go to this ip and you will have the phone option in the pc. select bookmark and delete or add a new once.

I'm running the latest Wicked Rom and play store says there's an update for the Google Keyboard which I run. It then tells me "Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
I can't find a way to uninstall the current google keyboard so I can update. Any ideas?
If its in /system/app/ rensme it with te extension .bak. then reboot and try to install it again.

Hey Doc, thanks for the very quick reply. I checked the app folder in system per your instructions but there was no Google keyboard listed. Any other ideas?
Then I guess its not a system app. (It may have IME somewhere in the name btw. Sometimes the keyboards don't have the word keyboard in the file name. For example, Samsungs keyboard is SamsungIME.apk.
Look in App management and see if you can uninstall it there.

Thanks Serio, so I renamed it with .bak, ran the update but got the same error message unfortunately.
I also looked in app manager, but it doesn't give me an option to uninstall it, I cleared the data and tried again but the same error.
Did you remember to reboot after renaming?
Go into /data/data/ and look for the folder for the keyboard. Something like com.google.latinime
Rename that folder too. I usually just put a Z or A in front of the name to make it easy to find.

Minus 9000 for epic not reading fail. Ok, will reboot and get back.
Rebooted, same error. This is more of a curiosity issue and not really a major problem...I'd love to find an answer to this though.
Lol!
No biggie. We've all done it I'm sure!
