SMS apps can be found here the one i'm using is the first one, works fine on ICS with this phone i believe it also works on jb but always backup your old sms.apk before install.
- then push new apk to /system/app or put it with explorer app, change permid to xx-x--x--
- reboot
- if problems just delete the apk and rename backup apk so it goes back to original name and location, check permits and reboot.
if want to be extra precautious do nandroid backup first but i don't bother usually unless i'm messing with phone or contact apks personally.
LINK -- > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667615 credit to Difusal
other apps are found in links, i haven't tested talk because i don't use it, calendar and email ones work great, widgets are way less of an eyesore.
credit for these goes to B-boy from androidspin, i am not the developer. just providing these because this phone seems to lack some of these options in forums.
B-Boy has a few other apps on his thread but i didn't post them here they were buggy and contacts didn't work, if anyone wants to try them and get them working and provide details here is the link: http://forum.androidspin.com/showth...Calendar-GTalk-Market-3-5-15-YouTube-Inverted
it's made for another phone so i dont think the contacts will ever work, youtube is probably possible to fix, i didn't try hard with them because they are outdated anyways (play is a version and a bit behind) but the black sms email and calender along with a black dialer skin i got from the play store, is making ICS trump the jb roms so far for me, especially with 0 random reboots and 1080p support etc. anyways, i figured some people with this phone would probably like some options so here they are, these are working for me atleast.
nice, yeah this with the new google 4.2 keyboards for ics... and you can almost turn ics into a stabler version of JB by the way the guy says the mms works with jb too hard to say about the other ones

Not sure if anyone can help here, but its worth a shot.
I recently took the plunge and flashed my phone and installed CM7.1 RC1.5 and its all working fine at the moment.
I have always used GoLauncher since about the 2nd day of owning my defy and think its a very good launcher so want to stick with it, I also like all the accompanying GoApp and widgets.
Now under 2.2.2. when I used the GoContacts widget and selected a contact a pop up bar appeared to give several options - Phone - Contact info - Message - email etc and when selecting phone for example it would initially give me a choice of either stock dialer app or GoDialer. I would pick GoDialer and set as default choice.
Now under CM7.1 RC1.5 I have been able to allocate GoSMS for the messaging part but I cannot get the Phone or Contacts to allocate to the GoDialler/GoContacts apps.
I have tried uninstalling the Go apps and reinstalling but I never get given a choice to choose from, it just automatically goes into the stock CM7.1 dialer or contact app. I have also cleared the data and defaults from the relevant Go apps and the CM7.1 dialer and contacts apps but this has not helped.
Does anyone know if I need to do anything to allow me to choose the Go apps?
I know its not a major thing but I just would rather tie everything together and to be honest I prefer the look of the Go apps
thanks for any help

Second link works. First one is a 2+meg .exe

Thanks for this! Going to play with it.
Edit: It worked great most of it for some reason I never got youtube to work. But Gmail and Gmusic works great! Going to try some more later.
Just installed this on my SGS i9000 running DarkyRom v11.0
Seems to work well! (Have not checked every app)
Thanks!
Just wondering if you know
I had installed previously the inverted ICS text from the link you gave(original) and it broke the lockscreen sqype open directly to text function. Anyone have this happen?

Yeah that will happen. These are stock ICS apps, so you'll lose several cute little features from Touch Wiz. I tried a lot of these inverted apps individually, but found the little random errors and lost features weren't worth the trouble.
Bout to give some of these a go.
Thank you
Hummm can't send or receive MMS after flashing this.. I'm running the latest cm9 nighty for the AT&T galaxy s 3

I've been searching for almost two days for an inverted Google Talk app that will actually work on the GS3. I've tried the ones posted by Rootzwiki, and some CWM flashables posted in these forums for various ROMs, but nothing has worked yet. I've ended up with non-inverted apps or immediate forced closes.
I just stumbled across some random rom on Youtube, of all places, for the Galaxy Nexus that claimed to have all inverted apps. It had a download link for the apps only, so I figured, what the hell? I'll give it a shot. I just pulled the Talk.apk out of the flashable zip and put it in system/app the old fashioned way, and now I have a working, inverted talk app! I've gotta give thanks to the guy who made the rom I pulled the app from. You can see his work here:
http://droidmodderx.com/galaxynexus/rom-eclipse-v1-0-aosp-4-0-4-4512
This is working for me on AOKP from Task and Ktoonsez, so I don't know if it'll work on a stock based rom. Be sure to back everything up and go through the usual precautions before trying this out. The app is attached below.
I added a couple of screenshots. Sorry if they're not the greatest quality, or the censor bars are too obtrusive. I'm on my work laptop and the only thing I have to edit images is Powerpoint

Inverted Talk works perfectly fine for me.
Sent from my unlocked Motorola Atrix.
the rootz wiki one worked fine for me.
Just wanna start off saying that this ROM is awesome, even though its still a work in progress. I love how the notification bar and lower bar changes to fit the screen that I'm viewing at the time, my screen "seems" bigger, too. Awesome work!
but to my questions, I started with 2.99.5 and it was great. Goomanager alerted me to an update, so I updated. I also downloaded the new gapps it had as well and flashed both. after doing so, I notice my google account can't be accessed at all. my contacts are gone, gmail, can't log into youtube or the play store. Luckily, I did a backup before flashing so I went back and all my google related apps and contacts are there.
What did I do wrong?
on the 2nd one, and I know I'm gonna get flamed for it, but I see I have the dreaded T-CDMA64 instead of Verizon Wireless and did the steps by changing the eri.xml file, placed it over the older eri.xml file but it didn't change.
What am I doing wrong here as well?
Thanks for any help....once again, awesome ROM. I'm in love with it and can't wait to see how much better it gets!
I have been looking for some time and this is driving me nuts, I'm stuck between the stock AOSP Messaging apk and ChompSMS. The reasoning is because the stock AOSP Messaging apk scales my MMS photo's to a butchered mess of pixles (horrible for scsreen shots because you can't even read what I tried to take a screen shot of when sending it), so to solve this I was using ChompSMS to send full resolution pictures via MMS however ChompSMS is messed up too because if anyone sends me an MMS I need to disable chomp, restart the phone, then the MMS appears in the stock Messaging apk.. Driving me nuts having to reboot my phone so frequently during the day every time I receive a MMS and the fact that I need to use two programs just so people can see what I'm sending them is a hastle.
Are there any stock AOSP messaging apk's that do not scale the photo's before they send? Can I take the messaging app from JellyBAM 7.7.0 becuase that one did not scale photo's via MMS but now that I'm on RootBox it scales just like it does on ParanoidAndroid, CyanogenMod, Xylon, LiquidSmooth, AOKP, and JellyBAM 7.8.0
I just don't want pixaly scaled MMS photo's anymore, I use MMS a lot and no one can ever understand what I'm trying to show them because the photo's are of such poor quality.
Any idea's how I can find a stock AOSP Messaging apk that doesn't scale MMS? or extract the AOSP messaging apk from JellyBAM 7.7.0 to use with RootBox 4?
You could certainly extract the desired apk and place it into your build to test.
I use both winrar and 7zip when messing around with apk's...
There are many other methods, but I've found while using winrar, I can pull apk's from one build and place them directly to the next then flash and test.
It takes a bit of practice, but is really quite easy.
And was my debloating method of choice for a long time...then root explorer apps became very popular and easy too.
The method of extraction and placement is entirely up to you, but many methods work, and are certainly worth a try.
Standard disclaimers apply of course, and remember those nandroid backups before playing around in system files....g
I didn't think it would be that straight forward, thanks, I'll give this a go and if I can get it working, I'll upload the non scaling messaging apk for others.
Thanks again
No problem. ...
When I first started playing with roms I'd swap apk's all the time with winrar on PC...
I download the rom I want to use. ..and the rom I wanted parts from. ..
Then open and copy/paste the apk into the destination app folder. ..
Winrar kept my rom signing intact so the build would flash. ..
It's fast and a kinda fun once you nail the technique..
At one point I used a stripped CM9 rom that was only 54 meg in size after I stripped and modded it...
Wow that rom hauled butt....lol
Happy moding.....g
hey
handcent is also a great messaging app i gives you the option to have it re-size which i know you hate or it can let you use the phones standard mms or i like for a large picture is say you have a picture 1920x1200 or what ever you can use there service and it will hold the picture and send a link to the person and they can just click on the link and it will direct them to handcents server and get the full unchanged pic try it out if ya dont like it there will be different options good luck

This is the greatest thing I have ever heard about Android to this date! I'm so glad that I just bought a new WINDOWS laptop instead of another Mac
Also, for the record, RootBox fixed this problem in 4.1 and still working in 4.2 so no more scaling photo's for MMS, I still can't send Video though, it says size limit exceeded even if I record it in low quality it still won't send. Oh well, MMS Videos look like crap anyways.
Thanks for the tips, I'm going to get further into Android now that I'm on Windows again.
