I've been snapping away and I can't find any pictures. They arent in the gallery or in any of the folders using root explorer.
Any ideas?

Usually in /DCIM/Camera folder.... check external sd if you have one installed (DCIM/Camera folder). Also look in /Pictures folders (internal and external)
No joy. I looked in gallery, in root and solid explorers in sd card and sd 0,all in the dcim media, and picture folders.. Nothing. Also I should be able to preview of the pic in the bottomm left box of the camera app but it brings up nothing.
I'm at a complete loss here.

So it doesn't matter whether I choose write to sd card or phone memory the camera app will not save pics or video. Google search keeps coming up issues with sd card formatting, however since it's not writing to phone memory I don't see how it can be that. Just to be safe I did a clean install of cr 4.9 and I'm having the same issue. Something else to note, I now have 2 different camera icons that open 2 different camera apps. The second one I don't recognize and neither one will save pics or video.

When I browse my sd card, and try to open a specific folder using Root Explorer or the "Root Browser" tool in Rom Toolbox, the folder appears empty. However when I browse my sd card on my PC while connected to USB in disk mode, or with the Script Manager app, or while in recovery, the folder contains all the files I have placed there previously that I would expect to see. Permissions for the folder are set to "--xrwxr-x" just as all my other folders on the sd card are set to. I am rooted (obviously), running Deck's 1.3d with Tiamat 3.3.7, and using DarkTremors a2sd.
Any ideas why the files are not visible in certain apps?
Edit: see attached screenshots.

You can always backup the contents, format the card, then move what you need back.
It might not fix it, but it definitely shouldn't hurt.

Thanks, plainjane. I will give that a try in the next couple days and let you know how it works out.
Problem solved: renamed the folder in question. Must have been a bad character that the explorer didn't like.

Sorry guys - this must have been answered before, but after over an hour of searching, I cant find it here, or anywhere through Google.
Epic 4GTouch Rooted w/ Blazer.
Just bought a 16G c6 SD, connected phone to PC, transferred ~5G of music to the SD, and while all the files are visible and accessible through Windows Explorer ( /external_sd ), none of the files are visible on the phone. I've tried PowerAmp, MixZing and the stock music player - none of them see any music on the external SD, and I've tried both the stock file browser and ES File Explorer - neither see any files, only LOST.DIR.
But, if I connect the phone to PC by USB, all the files are there and accessible.
I can't be the only person with this problem. I only want to use the extSD for music, nothing else.
Thanks, and sorry if this has been asked 100x - I swear I searched forever.
I'm going to guess that either this has happened and been posted about 1000x, or I am the first person ever with the problem so no one knows what's wrong.
If someone could post a link to a known thread, it would be a huge help.
Thanks.

Maybe the system hasn't refreshed it yet. Reboot will help
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
I have rebooted 3 or 4 times hehe.. still shows up though,
find "media storage" app in setting->apps on the phone, then delete cache, data, everything you can, then reboot.

Solved. I didn't use your method, but thanks for the suggestion though. I decided to browse the pictures folder in /sdcard, and when I got into .thumbnails, I immediately see the culprit:
Those .thumbdata files, combined, would result to at least 1,1 GB. But after deleting those files, my available space remains the same (see first post).
So I guess it's Android's indexing fault that caused the confusion.
No problem I'll remember this method, thanks for posting your fix

I'm not sure if this will solve it but its a worth a try. Go to settings/apps or app manager then scroll to ALL and then open settings and clear data and cache. And try again. This might wipe your setups.

I'm a secure folder heavy user. I got a few apps duplicated with my dual sim phone, that way I keep things separate, work and personal. How to get this on another phone?
I don't want to give up my Note 7!
I'd like the know the same thing. As a first time Samsung owner, that feature was very nice for a number of reasons. Any third party options to add this type of functionality to another phone?
Problem with secure folder is that you can't copy stuff back out of it!

Maybe it changed in the last update, but when I tried it,I put a video in there and wasn't able to copy it back out (when I found the Occulus player didn't support opening from secure folders- bummer). A quick bit of research at that point suggested this was the intention of secure folder to not allow security compromise of copying back out of it? Perhaps you can "un"secure it?
Edit: ok just tried again, and if you go into gallery inside the secure folder, there is an option to move out, yay. Didn't spot this option previously.
From video player-
