Been trying to work with this Kindle Fire for a while now. I have the 1st Gen model and seem to have gotten somewhere although I don't know where.
I've searched numerous sites and looked at numerous threads on this site but still can't get any more progress.
I'm using a Mac which seems to make things a little more difficult in terms of finding a fix. I've tried BreakDroid and a few other ways but still can't get anything to come together.
When I turn it on I have the option of choosing the boot menu with the blue lettering. Doesn't matter what I choose, it's booting normal or it will reboot a few times until it boots normal.
When I'm working with terminal I can't get the device to be recognized.
I type "adb devices" and nothing shows up at all as being connected.
Pretty much close to just calling it quits so hoping someone can give me some help.
Thanks.

I`m not a Mac person so not familiar with working on this with your OS but you could mail it to me and I would be happy to fix it.

This MT3GS is running the latest Cyanogenmod and google apps and hasn't been overclocked, yet it randomly reboots from time to time. I installed logcat but the last entries before reboot aren't consistant or yield any clues to what's going on. Where does one go from here? Is there a debug method that will show me what happened right after that last line recorded (using catlog set to record once a line)?
This is highly frustrating. :/
I tried resetting the phone, deleting the system partition, and reinstalling Cyanogenmod, but its still happening.
Any help in knowing what to look for next would be appreciated.
Second that
Installed ICS Revloution on my HTC Sensation XE and although it worked well, I got frequent random reboots.
I then changed to Insert Coin ICS latest version, and same performance but also same issue.
I cannot ask in the actual ROM thread as I don't have 10 posts as yet, so decided to do as much homework as I could.
Can't see anything obvious in Logcat either.
Well I tried a different ROM and it still did it and still doesn't show **** on logcat... and this time I followed it through ADB connecting to my laptop.
Is this the sign of a dying device? Is this situation so abnormal that there is nothing else that can be investigated?
I feel pretty bad because I handed this phone down to my wife as her first Android device and then is driving her up the wall. I guess it did it when I used it but maybe I just didn't notice it all that much to care.
I've tried posting in many forums... I wonder if I should try an actual google forum?
Use UART. You will need to figure out how to do it on your own. This will show you the problem unless its hardware damage.

Darn, sounds like a dead end for me. I did a google for UART and android and came to the conclusion its waaay over my head. It looks like UART is just a serial communications standard?

Yep. And you can use a tool like The Bus Pirate to communicate. It costs $35 for a bus pirate.
Help! I have been quite desperate for some time. My Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi 32 gb crashed one day and since it never went much further than the Google logo screen. I can access bootloader, but all 4 actions lead to nothing else. I can't even get that "No command". I don't even care about my files. I just want to be able to use it. I tried using toolkit and that WugFresh thingy - didn't do anything. I have driver installed and it seems to recognize my device, but as soon as I try to unlock my device, a screen appears on my nexus asking weather I really want to do that and it will erase my data and so on... So I press Yes and it stays there. Toolkit doesn't do anything new too. I have been waiting for several minutes, but it doesn't work. Can anybody help me? What could be the problem? I don't want to even bother Asus or Google as they will end up throwing myself between them. This tablet was amazing... and then it broke. Is there anything else I can do or try? I know the problem is not in the USB connection so don't even offer me that option! Have tried several ports and even bought a new cable. I am also in denial that it could be related to hardware. It worked alright and then it crashed. Can't remeber details as it was a few months ago. I haven't dropped it or harmed in any other way.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.
Stand by
Good luck

If you can access the bootloader, try flashing a system.img in fastboot. If that doesn't work, then I suspect you have a hardware issue. Did you buy it from Google Play? Is it still under warranty? If so, call Google. They have amazing customer service.
I need some technical help as I have a really weird problem with my zenfone 2. A couple of weeks ago I bought some skype credit and made a phone call. For some ungodly reason right after this call there was a pin screen in place, with no warning or messages. I tried to put in several pin numbers as I thought it was a sim lock but nothing could get past the lock. I tried putting in 5 wrong codes in the hope to see a "forget password" button but nothing. I tried resetting the lock via google device manager and it says that it can't since a screenlock is present and will not reset the pin. I have even tried to get into recovery mode so that I can do a factory reset but at this stage I get an "error" here so this avenue is also blocked. I have even attached the phone via usb to the computer but the computer sees and empty hard disk. I have even tried to use adb to take a look inside, but this did not work either as the device is not seen. I have also tried rebooting in safe mode but the screen lock behaviour is just the same. . At the moment the wifi is also off so now google device manager can not locate the phone So at the moment I am out of ideas. I am now inclined to believe that my phone has been hijacked by some sort of new yet super sophisticated lockware/malware.
I have already accepted that all our family photos including the ones from our recent holiday are permanently gone for good with no chance in hell of recovering them.
Does anyone have any ideas to get around this annoying problem?
So what are my options? Is there any software that I can use to break this beasts back? Do you have any suggestions?

Hello, I really hope somone can help with this problem - I know the obvious answer is to get the screen repaired but I cant afford it. I've tried looking at other posts as well but am not getting anywhere.
Last year the screen went on my OP3 after being dropped and the screen is now blank with quite a few cracks. The phone still works - all the buttons work and I think I've even managed to enter the PIN. I now need to retrieve a file from the phone.
The phone hasn't been rooted or modded in any way (it's as it came from the factory). When I plug it into my PC i can see the drivers folder and the 5 files in there, but nothing else.
I was hoping I could access the phone remotely but OTG was not enabled, though I did in the past enable developer options. I believe hope is not lost, as the phone can be put into fastboot (or something like that - I'm not terribly techy but can work things out) but without being able to see the screen..... I've looked ADB devices and there's nothing after "list of devices attached".
Is there any way of being able to do something? I've looked for screenshots to see if I can operate the phone blind, but can't find anything. I am patient and will keep trying until i get it or save the money for a repair, but I really need the file asap. The phone itself isn't important to me (I've replaced it since) - only the data on it.
Very grateful for any help anyone can offer.
edit: Wifi enabled solutions are not an option sadly as I've changed my ISP since so can't amend the settings on the phone (unless I get extremely lucky)
You're screwed, just buy another screen.
It will be easier to just lend a money.

Unless you enable 'USB Debugging' in Developer Options and install the required drivers, your phone will not be 'seen' by your PC. Without your phone being 'seen' by your PC, nothing can be done.
Dear XDA community,
I have an HTC Desire HD with, I guess, Android 2.X. I need to access crucial information on the device, but since I have forgotten my pattern from back in the days, I need to find another entry. Here is what I tried:
I put in the SIM card to have internet connection.
Having a phone call works well.
I tried to guess the pattern, but this was not working, and now it asks me to input my google account I registered this phone with.
Tried to type every google account I had in the last years, but none worked. I am pretty sure that I have the right one and typed it many times.
There is strange behavior when checking for the credentials. Sometimes it refuses the input in no time, it's like it is not even trying. Other times it takes like 1min, and it shows a loading sign.
It does the same no matter if I have a SIM card inside or not, which makes me mistrusting this option.
I tried to type "null" as the password since this should work for some android versions, but it did not for mine.
I tried to force a stack overflow by inserting many characters into the emergency phone --> did not work
There is a bug where you can put any characters into the emergency input by holding the menu key > klick on the right arrow > you can input any char
didn't help tho
Tested if ADB is active, but it seems to be not to. The micro USB port is a bit used, so the cable is not holding too good, but I think I tested it intensive enough.
I have a backup from the HTC and try to extract more information with BulkExtractor and can maybe give you more information.
I think about flashing a twrp through the fastboot recovery mode, but I am unsure if I can do it without wiping the data.
I am pretty certain that there is an exploit for such an old Android, but couldn't find it yet.
I would be super happy if someone here has some tips or hints.
Thank you <3
