[Q] S-off Bravo Hboot-0.80.0000 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have a HTC-Desire GSM:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP-031D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.14.05.17
Cyanogenmod 7.2 (Android 2.3.7)
And I was trying to get 4ext recovery on it, because my current clowckwork can't flash all of the rom's I have been trying to flash.
But for that 4ext I need a S-OFF device so I tried making it S-OFF with AlphaRev, but my computer fail when I try booting it on that rom. After that I tried Revolutionary-0.4pre4, but that one says my device (Bravo with HBOOT 0.80.0000) is not supported at this time.
Can anyone say how to get my Bravo S-OFF or how to upgrade my HBOOT.
(already, thanks, just for reading this).

You need to run the 2.3 RUU to upgrade the hboot. Once you have updated to either 0.93 or 1.02 revolutionary should work fine.

How does your computer fail booting the rom? Did you follow the instructions accordingly? The livecd should work.
Also, you could try with a bootable usb instead of a cd.

Hey,
I have now official 2.3.3, but revolutionary doesn't work because of an invalid beta key (I tried everything, replacing all the 0's with o's and O's). And I can't do it with unrevoked because it gives me an error that my firmware is to new. I also tried Gingerbreak, but that doesn't do anything, just loading and saying it is rooting.
Do you have any other methodes?

Don't retype it. Just copy and paste it into command prompt.

I followed the instructions (as far as I know), and try booting it with cd and USB.

Well, now that you flashed the 2.3 RUU, Revolutionary is the only way to go.

Succes!

[Q] Possible Brick, any help appreciated

Hi
Another stupid noob has bricked his phone.
My situation. Whilst trying to unroot and restore to original state for warranty purposes (earpiece speaker has died)
I have a Desire Z that will boot either into hboot and clockwork recovery but wont boot past HTC screen when I install or restore a backup.
I presume this is because the wrong hboot, radio etc is now installed with S-ON.
I have been trying to do this but get stuck because I have no access to terminal
This
Anyone with some ideas?
Cheers in advance
UPDATE:
Now boots directly into Clockwork recovery but wont boot passed.
Can you tell us what your hboot says.

Did you use gfree method?
Sent from my HTC Desire Z/G2 Using XDA Premium App
Yes I used Gfree originally.
I am trying to flash a PC10IMG.zip via the bootloader but it no loner seems to want to see the file on my sdcard. It did before, which is how I got into this mess in the first place.
I am trying to flash the correct one back over which has a more recent Hboot, radio etc I think.

I wonder why... So it still not reading it? Also does ADB read your phone? I don't know if ADB would work though because you don't have the ent-hboot. It seems like even so you have S-on your still rooted since you can still go to clockwork?
Sent from my HTC Desire Z/G2 Using XDA Premium App
yeah thats whats getting me. I can use adb when booted into the recovery but I am struggling to get anything to work.
Any thoughts on how to proceed, if any?
well my only idea is to try to see if you can flash through ADB

Try looking for a DZ RUU that is specific to your carrier. If you can't find one, you could make a goldcard and install a WWE RUU (see if you're still super CID first).
Format your sdcard and try to unroot your phone again. )

thanks for the replies, got it back up running sort of, got a t-mobile rom installed but still need to flash the correct hboot, recovery and rom for that matter

UnrEVOked woes

Okay here is the situation. I'm trying to root a HTC Desire using unrevoked on my laptop that I've used to successfully rooted another desire in the past. It get so far into the sequence then it says "error getting root, is your software too new"
The phone is a 'new' generic replacement from t-mobile but is showing as being s-off even though it hasn't been touched!?!?
Can any please give me advice on what to try next?

Try flashing a recovery via fastboot.
If it works you should be s-off. Was it s-off before you touched it?

I can see this thread may get a lot of views if your phone came from the factory s-off

I had this problem trying to change the recovery program from clockwork to RA 2.0on my rooted desire. I was using unrevoke to flash the RA 2.0 recovery image file. I had to roll back from 2.3.3 to 2.2 and do a factory reset. As you are on 2.2 all you can try is the reset option.
Being already rooted wasn't the problem and if you Google your error message will find known issues with unrevoked.
Hope this helps.

Yes it was s-off before I touched anything.
I've been reading this thread from the stickies though.

I had the same problem with my phone.
Start with a downgrade to original 2.1 and then run unrevoked and then alfarev to s-off,
I followed a very nice video guide i found on the development forum,
It was the only thing that worked for me.
Hope it works for you to.

The mention of S-OFF on that thread just means that it can be done. Not that every PVT4 model has S-OFF out the box. Seems like you might be lucky in that you have factory S-OFF. I take it it doesn't have the pink AlphaRev banner at the top above where it says S-OFF?

i got a t-mobile branded desire that was s-off from factory, i had problems using unrevoked on my pc, tried it on a friends and it worked fine
try a different pc and make sure you have the drivers installed and htc sync uninstalled
if you have an eng hboot you can try fastboot flashing the recovery then using the recovery to flash a rooted rom
failing that you can try the old fake flash method of having cwm as an update.zip
booting to recovery the flashing the update.zip which will take you to cwm
it doesnt actually install a new recovery as its fake flash
does the device look slightly different? like brushed aluminium?
i had one of these old s-off eng devices to play with last year.

Freezing ICS/JB during starting after flash

Hi,
first - sorry for poor English..
second - after trying to install some ROMs, e.g.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627448&highlight=freeze
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827934
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850436
after rebooting the phone freezes on starting animation, after 15 +/- minutes reboots and it repeats forever...
any idea? is it size problem? (all ROMs are over 130MB..?)

HTC Sense 2.3 and forgot to change your hboot?
Which ROM are you actually use?
Did you install official 2.3 HTC Sense ROM using RUU after trying to install some ROMs? I think yes, because your Desire is S-ON. Did you change hboot to downgrade before you run RUU?

His phone has unlocked bootloader from htcdev, so he's still s-on.
Almost all of these roms require a sd-ext partition on sd-card and you didn't wrote anything about having it. Plus for that kind of stuff working properly I think that you need s-off, so jump to downgrading of hboot and running Revolutionary tool.

Stuck, how to update

Hello!
this is my stats on my Desire:
Hboot 0.92.00001
S-on
Clockworkmod recovery 5 (partly working)
Root
My room have totally messed up and are bugging 24/7 so I wanted to flash some roms but all roms requires like 4ext and to get that I need to partition my sd card in someway, don't know how. I cannot flash 4ext recovery becuase of s-on and revoloutonary.io doesnt support my hboot.
What do I need to do
Cheers!
Thanks!
It should be 0.92.0001 not 0.92.00001 if it is the top one you can use revolutionary just fine, else use the pb99 method to flash recovery

There is a hboot 0.92.0001 . A link http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=373800&d=1281012851
If that is so then revolutionary cannot be used. I dont know whether unrevoked will work on it. Maybe best option would be to run the 2.3 RUU. Thereafter use the revolutionary path. You can flash 4Ext thereafter.

[Q] Help! HTC Buzz: Wildfire -Revoulutionary- HBoot 6.01.1002

Hi,
I am a new to XDA Developers and I only registered because I have a problem with my HTC Wildfire (Buzz). I need to downgrade my hBoot so I can unlock the bootloader. I didn't know about the bootloader having to be unlocked so I used Revolutionary. I had hboot 1.01.1001 at the time and it was a successfull root. I tried to boot to Clockworkmod Recovery to install Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 when a HTC phone picture came up with a red triangle with a '!' inside it. The specs of the phone are as follows:
Android OS: 2.1 (Eclair) (I downgraded from 2.2.1 recently)
hBoot:

Why do you need to use HTCDev?? By doing that you void any chance of your warranty.
You need to flash a recovery.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Assuming recovery is named recovery.img and it is placed in your fastboot folder.
