The S4 music player is already in the rom/firmware
and is easy to find in the app drawer of the phone.
i deleted and installed google music.

Well that's no problem, just open the rom zipfile which you used
and navigate to the SYSTEM/APP folder and there you will see
two files with filenames: music*.apk
Extract and Copy those two files to your phone's sdcard and
then using a file manager like root explorer copy them into
the /system/app folder in your phone.
After that reboot the phone and you will have the stock
music app back again.
You must be rooted and you must use a root capable file manager
to do this.
Good luck!
You saved my life.

I got my DHD recently and I tried to play some music via Music app. However,it seems that the app cannot see music files on my phone (~1.5Gb),cannot make playlists or add music (only paths are My Library and Media Servers). On the other hand,I can open music files one by one with Music app while in Astro Manager. Also,PowerAmp app sees all files and plays them fine.I also cannot access any SRS and Dolby settings,if there are any on DHD.Can someone help?
Are you rooted? Seems like some kind of issue with the ROM. Since the stock music app is a system app.
Mate,I really don't know! I've been using Galaxy S a while, this is my first HTC with Android.I have Superuser, same as on Galaxy, and running Android Revolution HD 6.1.3 rom.How can I see if it is rooted?

I also tried putting music on different places on sd card but it's a no go.PowerAmp sees all files and plays them fine.

ROM is Broken 100% please check next time the MD5
If you have Superuser then you are certainly rooted. If you have a custom ROM installed such as Android Revolution HD then you are also certainly rooted as custom ROM's dont come without root access (rooting is a software thing, not something to do with the phone. It is to do with the currently installed ROM).
The first thing to try would be to adb push the music app into the system directory. First deleting the old one and putting the new one there. You can get it if you unzip the Android Revolution HD zip file. I am unsure on how to do this but somebody I'm sure will be able to help
Just flashed Rcmix Rom and same thing happens again!Music app just cannot see music files.Any idea where to put those files in order to app can see them?

i just place it in a folder called Music and then just play the music it always works most likely its a rom problem
Me too I just have a folder called Music on the root of the SD card. In the Music folder I have folders with the artist names. In those I have folders with album names. Then the songs in those.
What structure do you have?
You might want to check if you have a .nomedia file in your music folder that will stop it from finding music
Structure is the same as yours and yes, there was a .nomedia file.I deleted it but Music app still doesn't sees no files...this becomes very annoying.

Ok,I found a .nomedia file and deleted it,and now Music app finds music wherever it is on the sd card! Thanks guys!
Now,how do you enter Beats and SRS settings?
Ok, Beats audio sucks big time while SRS is pretty good...and no custom EQ either.Voodoo sound is simply the best, but for Galaxies only.

why does beat audio sucks? i have it and to me it sounds super.
Well, the sound is pretty hollow, with almost no bass, and I have high end headphones...custom EQ is always the best solution.

Hi everyone!
I want to use the stock Music Player app that my SGH-I747m came with but it doesn't seem to work when I drag and drop my music which are mp3s into /sdcard/music/ALBUM-NAME/all songs here....
It shows the same screen which is to add music, drag and drop from your computer.....
Does this happen for anyone else or is there a silly fix that I can't seem to do.
Thanks!
Michael

Forgot to mention, I am on my Mac (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) and installing Kies with the manual installation from the extraction of the pkg doesn't work for me either. So Keis isn't an option.

So if i understand you correctly, you are having trouble with playing the music after you load the music on the phone?
Of thats the case, just reboot the phone after you load the music. I downloaded music for example and had to reboot it to see the music in the stock music player.

Well I put the music in the /sdcard/Music/ALBUM-NAME/_______.mp3 and it doesn't recognize it in the Music Player app, even after several reboots. I am using the internal SD card (16GB) not any external card.
Put it here instead. See if this works for you.
It is the default area for music by the app.

Oh! It worked! Yay thanks!
Just now I see double listings of each Album in the "Albums" screen of Music Player... Hopefully this will fix itself...
NEVERMIND! I understand why!

Hello XDA...just wanted to share about an annoyance of CM9 Apollo Player...mostly when mp3 files are being downloaded and moved to external sd cards...the Apollo Player gives error and doesn't play them...even after reboot...so i have got a simple solution for those who don't know how to deal with this....
Install "Rescan Media" from play store and run the app...it will automatically rescan media in a second without even notifying...now go to Apollo and run your downloaded music....it works!
Please hit thanks if this little tip helped you...!

Its not a problem with Apollo although it is a **** music player to begin with but with the media storage not being able to scan it yet or finished scanning and missed the file. Nonetheless if you use a music player like PowerAMP then you won't have that problem.

It would be better to download 20kb app of scanning media...who does scan your phone within 1 second....than having 2 music players...anyway

Install trickster mod..there is an option called media scanner or something..use that and your sdcard will be scanned again for the music..another way is copying the music into the phone again...you can also just do a wipe and then do a clean install

I already install trickster mod software and search media scanner but still did not find any audio file by the Music Player..thanks

Does anybody else have problems with 4.4 ROMs reading music on SD cards? I like 4.4 ROMs better than 4.3 but music is a big deal breaker for me.

Are you able to access your SD card at all or is it just the music that's giving you trouble?
Just the music. I can access it through file explorers, and it shows its mounted in storage settings

Is it all 4.4.2 ROMs? What music player do you use? Have you tried other players? Is there a setting in your player to select which folders have media? I know this is unfeasible as a fix but can you, through a file explorer, open a music file directly and choose to play with whichever player you use?
I personally haven't had a problem with my music on any of the 4.4.2 ROMs I've tried (Liquid, SlimKat, Danvdh's GPE, Gummy.)

I've tried 4 different players. I'm currently on Liquid.
Yes I can access them through a file explorer, but it won't play the whole song.
All my music is on External SD and can be played without any problems.
I was having this issue as well until I noticed there was a .nomedia file in the music folder of my sd card. Deleting the file solved the issue. I have no idea why it was there in the first place.
I went ahead and formatted the sd card from the phone, and its working well now
Still not sure why it was doing that, but I hope this helps someone else with the same issue.
