[Q] hox stuck in bootloop - HTC One X

Hi everybody! i have a "little" problem with my one x, i'm actually using SkyDragon's Rom (18.6 Ultimate) and everything works fine,
this morning i tried to install paranoidandroid. my device was 100% charged,i flashed boot.img as usually then i tried to go to recovery for performing full wipe and installing rom+gapps, but the recovery doesn't start. I re-flashed the recovery but nothing changed. Adb doesn't recognize the device, but i'm pretty sure that adb works correctly (i had to push a rom in my hox one time ago and the device was properly recognized).
When i select to reboot into recovery from hboot, the devices restarts. shows me the cwm icon for a very little time, then restarts normally. Did nobody already had this problem? how can it be solved? thanks for all the advices

Try this
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter the recovery

i cleared the cache using fastboot, "this usually solves bootloop problems"
Code:
fastboot erase cache
How do you perform this command? I'm using Mac os x.
instead of fastboot, use ./fastboot-mac

if you can get into your bootloader try flashing a boot.img and then try and flash the modules of the kernel you choose... and before that fastboot erase cache and then flash boot.img

like i said the only steps i could think off and you already tried are:
fastboot erase cache in bootloader if you can go in there
flash a boot.img and then flash the modules in recovery
and that is it really....
your saying your fastboot commands do not work so i am confused how to sort this out...strange...are you sure they are not working fine?
did you try flashing a kernel when you was viper x
there is another person(tadeausz,real77055) with such a problem but his problem is not solved and i cant finde him to know what he did...

help, i'm really stuck!

Hi guys,
I rooted my HOX using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843585 . It went ok.
Then I flashed the jb rom, also went perfect. Because i really like sense i wanted to flash the viper rom, then everything went terribly wrong.
I flashed it and when it finished the device began bootlooping. I pressed the on/off button and volume down to boot into recovery, when i select recovery it tries to open but then the device shuts down and begins bootlooping again. So i cannot get in to recovery. I tried to reset recovery using the hox disaster recovery tread, but when i type the commands in cmd it keeps saying failed.
Is my phone ruined now? can this be fixed? can someone please help me or tell me where i can get help?
I tried using the search function but i didn't find anything, i actually don't really know what to search for... :crying:
I really hope someone has a anwser for me .
Thanks in advance.

If your recover doesn't work, have you tried reflashing clockworkmod recovery via fastboot?
Also, did you wipe data/factory reset before you changed ROMs?
your phone phone is ok since he is unlocked. the bootloop is caused by wrong boot, have you made a back up for the .
Here what you will do:
1-hold power+ vol down until you get the bootloader menu.
2-go to hboot and hit power to access fastboot.
3-connect your phone via USB (you should get fastboot usb).
4-get the boot.img file from the ROM viper copy it and paste in a folder name it for ex fastboot.
5-Enter to this folder, Hold alt+shift and click right click and chose open command window here.
6-type "fastboot erase cache", should write ok.
7-type "fastboot flash boot boot.img", should write ok
8-reflash your rom again via recovery choose fullwipe in aroma installation.
9-reboot your phone.
open command prompt. type c:\whereveryourfastbootis\fastboot erase cache
as long as you can boot into bootloader(and its unlocked), and you didnt flash stuff for a different phone you're OK

I think i tried, but i will try again, probably did something wrong.
Yes i did a factory reset. I think it went wrong because i had a custom kernel and did a full wipe.
Don't worry, when recovery tries to load and the phone reboots it means you need to fastboot erase cache. i had the same problem when switching to a jelly bean rom and kernel. the factory reset wont help this.

Thank you for comferting me , obviously i don't know much about flasing roms (and i'm a girl so i have the forces of nature against me) fist time i tried to root and flash a custom rom on my desire hd it took me over one week , because i didn't understand anything and had to google every single word in the guide. I just try to follow the guides step by step and then it goes ok, but if something unexpected happens i'm really lost . I'm so glad i could get help here .

[Q] Disaster, fu***ed up everything? Stuck in bootloader

Hi there,
today I definitely ****ed up my phone.
So: I tried the Ice Cold Jelly 4.3 CR, everything worked, but it was pretty unstable and the batterylife was horrible.
So I decided to go back to ARHD 31.3 but in a hurry I forgot to flash the boot.img ( kinda dumb ).
So now I'm stuck in the bootloader and ( I don't know why ) the phone doesn't get recognized by my PC ( Win 8.1 ), the recovery doesn't work ( CWM 5.8.x.x ) and the phone doesn't boot in the installed Rom ( of course ).
Any Ideas? thx

Well thanks a lot, but this doesn't help me, because, as I already wrote, the phone doesn't get recognized by my pc, so there is no fastboot commands possible.
Pc says the connected usb device seems to be broken please reconnect and try again
And what happens if you go in recovery to mounts and storage and mount the phone to the pc?
If it doesnt work out I suggest you flash philz recovery which also has updated touch drivers. The phone should pop up and you'll be able to copy a Rom to flash.
If that doesnt work reinstall drivers.

When I trie to get into recovery the phone loads CWM and shows it for a sec, but reboots as if it would crash.
So there is no Recovery to load into.
I can't install another recovery because the phone doesn't get out of fastboot mode.
I tried nearly al kind of drivers but none of em worked.

Pretty sure it will, after you have enough battery to flash stuff
flash philz touch recovery (recommended)
go to mounts & storage > mount usb storage
take a ROM zip of your choice and copy it once it recognizes.
Do a full wipe
flash the .zip file
reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img

[Q] HELP! Stuck in TWRP boot loop!

Howdy Everyone,
So just tried rooting my new m8 and now I'm stuck endlessly booting into TWRP. I thought I did everything correctly: Unlocked the bootloader, installed the USB drivers, installed the ADB fastboot drivers and then flashed twrp 2.7.0.3. I get to the the htc logo screen/warning and, bam, back to twrp everytime.
Does anyone know how to fix this??? The last time i was rooting and installing custom mods was back in samsung galaxy s2 days, so my knowledge is a little dated. Please help!!
Try flashing the recovery again. Download it from the link provided here and confirm the md5 checksum for the zip file.

I encountered this issue as well. I'm almost certain that when you were flashing recovery, you used this command "fastboot flash boot recovery.img".
The right command should be "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".
To rectify the issue look for a tread that has the boot.img for your specific M8 model and flash boot back using " fastboot flash boot boot.img".
This should fix the issue you are having

I followed the instructions on the TWRP site:
Download the above file. Save it to the root of your /sdcard directly (internal memory only) and rename it to twrp.img
Launch terminal emulator or connect to your computer and open an adb shell, then type the following:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p43
Then reboot to complete installation.
But that left me in a TWRP bootloop. Can you please give me step by step instructions on how to get out of this bootloop?
Thanks!
First off, being a noob and using dd without even knowing what partiton you're writing to is extremely dangerous.
Just use fastboot.
plug phone into PC in fastboot mode.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrpfilename.img
fastboot erase cache
on phone go back to hboot, select, recovery
In TWRP go to wipe, then swipe for a factory reset (Advanced wipe cannot properly wipe cache and dalvik after fastboot erase cache)
then go to advanced, select cache, dalvik and system and swipe to wipe those partitions.
then go to install, select the rom on your phone and flash. follow on screen instructions.
If you don't have the rom on your phone for whatever reason,
connect your phone, while in TWRP to your PC then, using adb on your PC
Code:
adb push romfilename.zip /sdcard/
Wait until it completes with bytes sent.
Then flash using method listed above.
Be careful if you want to keep your phone. I stress this, if you don't know what a command you are issuing does, exactly, DO NOT DO IT until you look it up and understand what you are doing. There is great risk even when you know what you're doing. There's a LOT more when you don't.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I opened fastboot on my PC with phone plugged in and entered the code but the cmd prompt just says <waiting for device>
Do you have the HTC drivers installed on your PC with HTC sync uninstalled?
Does it say fastboot USB on your phone?

You need cwm recovery to factory reset from cm roms.
Also you need to be in FASTBOOT mode for it to detect your device.
Boot to fastboot, erase cache, reinstall twrp.
Next time reset/wipe from recovery.
