Acro S JB 6.2.B.0.211 ROOTED. No pre-rooted ROM required. - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hey,
I just upgraded my Acro S firmware by Sony PC Companion to the newest JB 6.2.B.0.211. I liked the ROM, WORLD version, and I wanted to root. But at the same time, I didn't want to have to download and install the pre-rooted ROM.
I kept looking everywhere for a way to make it happen but nothing, until it happened!
I installed this kernel first:
Stock JB 6.2.B.0.211 Kernel with CWM + TWRP recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309117
Then I tapped the screen many times to access the TWRP recovery. I did a backup for my current ROM and I choose to reboot the system. On my way out, a message appeared telling me that my device isn't rooted and if I'd liked to root it and install SuperSU, and I went for it.
The system booted up and I found a new app called "Install SuperSU"
Follow3e the instructions and my Acro S JB is fully rooted!
Hope that works for you guys.

I assume that this is for unlocked BL?

I got this error message:
FAILED (remote: The Device must be rooted first)
finished. total time: 0.010s
Don't know what to do next....

Locked bootloader can't flash custom kernel (which included root and recovery) so you have to flash prerooted ROM, have no other ways at this time.

Yes, there is:

but you should have .200 not .211, but DoomLord is working on a method for .211

[Q] XTXperience 9 problem. don't bite my head off guys.

I am pretty new to flashing ROMS and rooting. I rooted my S2 back in 2011. but since then I haven't. So i though I would do it with the Xperia S.
I installed XTXperience 9, unlocked bootloader. rooted n fastboot. I downloaded cwm recovery. cleared everything. installed the ROM, and It has got stuck in boot loop.
I was on the 6.1.A.2.45 firmware if that helps?
could someone please give me some short instructions and tell me what I am doing wrong I need this ROM looks so cool!
Please don't bite my head off either. I need help. it's only way i'll learn
Please someone
If you have unlocked bootloader, why don't you install a custom kernel? Like Advanced ICS Kernel, ELiTE, etc.

Not sure how to do that yet. would that possibly fix the boot loop I am having??
I've never installed a recovery manually, because I've always flashed a custom kernel with a recovery included, maybe that's why you're having a boot loop but I'm not sure.
If you already unlocked the bootloader you should flash a stock based kernel and that's it.

If you already have you bootloader unlocked just flash a custom kernel! If you flash a ROM after that, it will be pre-rooted.

[Q] pre rooted rom via flashtool ?

Namaste !
I want to flash my Xperia SL via flashtool with pre rooted 6.2.B.0.211 ROM.
I already unlocked my bootloader and i am currently at 6.2.B.0.200 FW.
My problem is i didn't get .ftf file of that latest rooted ROM, I just get .zip file. Actually what is the major difference betwen .ftf and .zip extension?
How can i convert that zip file to ftf?
Thanks in advance !

No, FTF files can never be pre-rooted. But as you have an unlocked bootloader, rooting should never be a problem for you at all. Follow these steps to get root on .200-
1. Download and flash the FTF.
2. Download and flash a custom kernel for JB like DoomKernel [highly recommended kernel:angel::angel:]

You have not unlocked your bootloader properly. Do one thing, dial this number in your phonepad - *#*#7378423#*#* and then go to Service info---> Configuration and check the Rooting status.
If it says "Bootloader unlock allowed : YES" then you have not unlocked your bootloader properly. If it says "Bootloader unlocked : YES" then it is unlocked.
Thanks.

Why we can't root any build like this way?

Hi:
For one week i was asking my self that when we got new builds that no one know how to root it , why don't we use CWM to force flash su files to system? why it will not work?
I mean if we flashed the root using CWM , the phone must be rooted right?
Ok.
So how do you put in cwm on a new rom without it already installed?

I didn't understand. After flash the stock rom just f;ask custom kernel with CWM then flash the root zip the reflash the stock kernel.
On stock rom (locked bl) you need root to instal cwm, then from cwm do whatever you want do.
Also unlocked BL is always ROOTABLE, don't ask even once for this.
Many newbies on Forum posts that thay found root for unlocked BL, that isnt achivement. Flash custom kernel with root in self.
Trying to root locked bl, well, that is pain in the ass.

As unlocked BL you have few option.
1. Kernel which is pre rooted
2. Rom which is pre rooted
3. Flash some root.zip (depends on rom and/or kernel).
I prefer doomkernel

Actually, there is a universal zip file for any android phone which *should* root your phone but very often the installation fails because of a wrong update-binary (Status 0). So I made a zip which should work on our Xperia phones here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1772586&d=1362200612
Just flash in cwm and enjoy the root access

Yes, i think if we flashed the root (su and busybox package) via CWM or any recovery tool, the phone must be rooted. But in some cases at stock kernel, the CWM doesn't work properly so first of all unlocking bootloader if we flashed any custom kernel (like doomlord kernel) then we can easily get root access flashing the package via recovery.
thanks !

It sets the correct permissions on the su binary. Actually there is no need for this file since the updater-script does all the work but while I was working on my rom, the permissions were not getting set properly so I used this script

[Q] Trying to install Xperia Play Z final version, very confused. (r800a)

Hey guys, as the post title says, I'm trying to install the xperia play z rom, and I'm hitting a lot of road blocks. First one is, I don't even know if my phone's bootloader is unlocked! I'm pretty sure it is, because I thought all r800a's came with an unlocked bootloader, and I also used the flashtool, unlock bootloader tool, and it said it was already unlocked.
So, naturally what I do, is I flash the firmware in the guide (located here - http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...a-play/417392-rom-xperia-play-z-v1-1-0-a.html), and after that I want to root it so I can install a recovery. But when I try to root it, it always fails on part 1. So I tried to install cyanogenmod recovery without it. But after the apk is installed, i'm not able to install the actual recovery because it is not rooted.
My main problem with the guide is that it says to just boot into clockworkmod recovery, but I don't know how to. I turn on the phone and press the up button, but without installing the CWM/X-parts recovery, there's no way I can expect it to come up.
Any help please? I'm totally lost here. I know how to get roms that are based on gingerbread, but for some reason, Ics/Jellybean roms don't work at all, and I don't know if it is whether because my phones bootloader isn't unlocked (even though it says it is), or it's something else, like me missing a tutorial specifically for ics/jellybean roms.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, another question. What happens is that when I try to flash an ics kernel, it goes into an infinite bootloop, but when I flash a gingerbread kernel, it works fine. Is this a sign of a locked bootloader? Cause I thought you wouldn't be able to install any kernels if it was locked.

For future readers -
a. The r800a indeed does come with bootloader unlocked
b. It is normal for the phone to bootloop, Just go into recovery like normal and install the rom .zip. (It's usually tapping back while starting the phone, but if that doesn't work, try up volume or down volume)

ROOT firmware .569 and install dual recovery (UNLOCKED)

i tried rooting the new firmware and it was a success, i now have root and dual recovery installed on stock 4.3
here's the other link i posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48805157#post48805157
here's how. (my device is locked BL)
LINKS UPDATED!! (recovery)
1.Backed up my TA Partition
2.Flashed the official .569 ftf using flashtool
3.Unlocked my ZL's bootloader
4.Flash this kernel to get recovery (thanks Minthun46) http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=700#downloads extract the boot.img and flash it using fastboot or flashtool (fastboot mode)
5.Flash Supersu fix zip and dual recovery (thanks NUT) SUPERSU fix.zip http://nut.xperia-files.com/download.php?dlid=U3VwZXJTVV9maXg=
recovery that i used http://nut.xperia-files.com (download the latest flashable zip for ZL)
6.Re flash .569 ftf exclude everything except kernel and fotakernel.
7.Restore TA Backup.
FOR UNLOCKED BL
just follow step 2, 4, 5, and 6
VOILA!!! device is now rooted and has working recovery
PS
Will only work for ZL that can be bootloader unlock.
Hit thanks if it helps you.
Don't put Locked BL in the title, you only managed to root because your phone was unlockable. Putting Locked BL in the title states that your bootloader can also be locked for this method to work, and but unless your ZL can be bootloader unlocked, this method cannot be used for locked BL

It will reset your device if u put a check on wipe apps log on flashtool. I recommend a clean install to avoid problems.
