The MUST HAVE app for Android 4.0

Since we have today our fully working ICS rom, I would like to share this app

It's sync your facebook contacts (Pictures and status updates) with your phone contacts in the same way ICS sync your contacts with google plus (High res contact pictures)
The app it's only 99 cents and IMO it's totally worth it.

whats different between this and the official facebook app sync feature?
i thought you were going to say Chrome browser as the must have app

Is it a built-in feature of ICS? Because for me it only syncs Google+ contacts and completely ignores facebook contacts. Pictures don't come up or anything. Neither do their icons show in Handcent SMS

no, it's built into the official facebook app. I guess that app is included in the skyrocket port. you have to go into facebook settings and choose SYNC.
That said, it looks like my contacts (i use Go Contacts) defaults to sync with google+ before it uses facebook for photos.

I've done that already but still nothing... It's not really a big deal its just a pet peeve of mine to have contacts without pictures, thanks anyway bro

Yeah man just go on to the development forums and it should be on the first page. You could also search for it. Instructions are all there. There are a couple of bugs, most notably the auto rotation doesn't work. But other than that it works perfectly for most, including me I would suggest reading the entire thread to gain a little insight into what has been going on and to be a little safer with the installation and all that.... GOOD LUCK!!

When I had my Galaxy Nexus back in December I know there was no Facebook sync available for ICS at the time, I don't know if they've updated it back then.
But you can use Friencaster to sync all your contacts and pictures.
This reminds me though, has anyone else noticed there's no People app? Is that a Nexus only app or just missing?

Did I miss a memo?

I have a question, Facebook from the sky rocket ICS port won't let me access the pull down notifications. What I mean is, I'll get a notification, open the pull down in the app, and it shows me what's new but I can't touch it to access it, it does absolutely nothing.
Anyone know of a better app for Facebook?

Imma wait until all the bugs are all ironed out, I'm not that thirsty for Ics like some who will sacrifice bugs and stuff not working just to "have" ics

I've found that touching it about 50 times does the trick lol but it is annoying... Use friendcaster for now, it works great

My Google Now is not showing any of my calendar events. My "Next Appointment" Card is on.

Has a solution been found? I have the same issue. I thought it might have been a ROM issue, but after trying a few ROMs I still have the same issue. Is there some setting I need to activate within Calendar?

Have you both checked your calendar app that you've got an appointment within the next 7 days?

Yep, that's one of the reasons why I was thinking I've not checked a box somewhere in settings somewhere, but I have been playing around with this for so long that I have no idea what the problem could be

JB on a galaxy nexus. There should be no reason why it wouldn't work...

It works for me, do you have a location in your event? I'm not sure when they pop , but I just made a dummy one for 6 pm and it showed up about 530. I can check my settings if you like.

I didn't realise I needed to set locations, but some do have them. I'll go through them and add addresses to the all and see how it goes then.

I'm not sure it makes a difference, but my appts are set up with notifications in the calendar app. I can't help but think a location is required, because the notification is based on whether you need to leave for traffic issues in Google Now. However, the dummy appt I set was located at home, and it popped up.
The GN settings I have are - Card appears for any meeting, and if travel time needed, standard. Hope this helps.

For my settings, I seem to have different options... I have - For any meeting, Only if far away, and In evening for next day. At the moment I only have the first one ticked which I thought would bring up appts regardless of time and travel...

Which GApps are you using? I dont use calendar but I have noticed that weather wont show when using certain GApps packages.

Not sure, but they came packaged with Liquid ROM. Can't see it being the issue coz it hasn't mattered which ROM/ gapps I've flashed.

I had this issue ... My phone has two calendar apps, fir Google now and voice check of next appointment to work Google calendar has to be the default calendar app

Google Now working on T Mobile GS3

Full credit goes to author of the below thread. Got Google Now working 99% on my stock rooted Tmobile GS3. What is the 1% not working? Once you launch the app if you dont perform any search, back button does not exit the app. So need to close it from task manager. Also sometimes after you enter the search text, enter key does not initaite the search, so hit menu -> refresh. Other than that the cards, talk back, quick and accurate response, voice search etc works just fine.

Try to reinstall it beacuse on my device I am able to exit Google Now with the back button. I am rooted running FreeGSM R5, Faux Kernel and High Def In Color theme.

i'm guessing we're ARMv7? and which of the 5 apk's did you use?

I just flashed the file in the following link, in recovery and rebooted and thats it. Yes we are ARMv7(T-Mo)

y sir, atleast with me it did.

Do the cards take a while to show up because I've had it installed for a few hours but still don't get the weather card. I'm using the mikey m6. Everything else works.

Stupid question but have you asked for the weather ? Because that was the first thing I asked and started getting cards. Also when in the app hit menu and go into settings I beleive that there are more options.

I have been using it for the last 2 days and it's such a gimmick. It doesn't give me the cards that I am expecting and need and most of the time I do a voice search instead of a card I get thrown to Google even tho I have a card set up for let's say my favorite sport team. Kind of wack.

See u guys are getting the wrong impression of google now it does not work right with stock roms and has a phony voice. It was awesome on my gnex and was super quick and cards showed up when i needed. It finally is working great on cm 10 ....p.s. the inverted google now looks sick

Google Now will keep me from flashing to JB if the only thing that I can do with the double tap home function brings up Voice Dialer instead of Voice Search. Only fix is deleting the entire Google Search apk, which nullifies any benefit Google Now brought to the table. Sad, I actually liked the app...

Hey guys. I was able to put Google now on my rooted SGH-T999 and it works wonderfully. I'm running CM9 and I can't wait to see what this can do. I was experiencing one issue though. Sometimes, after I search, I will click on one of the websites it shows me and the link won't open. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Or any other issues with Google Now? Thanks guys!

The only issue i have is that if your launch Google now and don't search anything, pressing the back button won't exit the app. Need to use menu > refresh. Not a big annoyance since most times the app is used to search something. I wish location services would work just using gps, but you need to enable cellular triangulation too for that. I feel like triangulation will drain battery unnecessarily.

They have fixed that issue, I am using reekotub's v3 of Google now, and it works almost perfectly. They have also made a fix where voice search can be mapped to double tapping the home key!

In GNote 2012 you access it from within the browser, expand the hamburger stack then select settings.
Note: The hamburger stack icon that brings up the menu bar or 3 dot menu icon bar.

I believe quick controls was removed a long time ago. I haven't seen it since I had the s3 and s4.

I would suggest installing the AOSP Browser if you have root. Use the installer by the same name in the play store. Choose the Chromesync option during install. The new default browser is too gimped besides it's pretty tabs.

Thanks ! I've install the Aosp browser (non root version) and find the Quick Controls back
But I can't find a way to sync my Google account Bookmark... I only see the local favorites.
In the tablet settings all the Google account sync are check, any ideas ?
I didn't saw any Chromesync option during the installation.

Just fyi, he said if you have root. You said you got the non root version. If something he said isn't working, the first thing you need do is get root, uninstall non root version, and then install one you were told to install. If this doesn't fix your problems, then come back and let us know what happens....

Thanks for your info, of course I've understood that I have to be root but I don't want to root my tablet. So, is there a solution to sync the bookmarks without the rooted version ?

Honestly I use chrome....I don't see why everyone wants a stock browser or the aosp one when chrome is awesome. Maybe there are issues with it that don't bother me or don't notice, but I love chrome. It syncs all of my bookmarks between my tablets phone and my desktop with no issues....I can even follow what I open on device the other ones....don't see could be bad it myself than flash support but I don't think aosp or stock one has that either

Just test the Quick Controls in Aosp and you will understand I can't live whitout them...

And I don't understand why the others browsers don't have such a feature ! It's so usfull, specially on a tablet, you can surf without removing your hand to open new tabs, go back or forward, bookmark pages, refresh a page and a lot more !

Google+ Contacts - Keep Contacts up to Date in Google+ settings Missing?

I am on the latest 7.1.2 Verizon build and I noticed when I did a factory reset that in Google+ settings, I no longer have the option under settings to keep the contacts up to date. This option would always keep my user profile picture under the phone settings to stay updated instead of a blank photo. Anybody else seeing this?

I just got a OnePlus 3t (my N5x put itself in reboot purgatory) and while trying to set it up, I couldn't find this option for the LIFE of me.
Any idea on how we can get this functionality back?
I really liked how it synced with my G+ profile pic and I never had to worry about it...

Yeah i just upgraded to 7.1.2 on my Verizon Pixel XL and just noticed this. Not sure why this was removed or if it is just located somewhere else. Would really love it back though.

Google removed it a couple weeks ago. You have to load your own image under quick settings account now. As for tracking contacts where abouts you can do it through maps. But the person you tracking needs to set up who they share location with

This fixed worked 100% for me. While it's a bit annoying way to get back functionality, there's really not much to it.
I also tested it by letting the app update from the Play Store, then changing my profile pic in g+ and it updated in android. Win!

On Marshmallow (6.0.1), I was getting "App not Installed" errors when I tried to install the old APK over the new one; had to revert the G+ app to stock (Settings > Apps > Google + - tap top right, then "Uninstall Updates") first to get the older APK to install.

This helped me fix the problem

I tried this with Sony XZ Premium but no luck.
Installing the old app works and i get the profile picture however when I update to latest app it disappears again.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem on my Pixel XL running 7.1.2 (NJH47B).
The fix is fine at first, but stops working when I update Google+ to the latest version again.
Funnily enough, this doesn't affect my older devices running Android 6.x and below - my profile picture stays ok regardless of Google+ version.
Help, anybody?

I've tried downgrading but as soon as the app is updated the pic disappears, I'm on a Nexus 6P 7.1.2.
The same thing happen on the beta version of Android O.
