I got my HTC One X out of APX Mode a few months ago and it worked fine till today...nothing other done, just had it this night charging as every night and this morning....DEAD again!
But i don't know anymore, what i've done a few months ago to get it out of APX mode...it was surely luck...but if i would still know how, maybe it would help you :/
if i find out again what i've done, i'll post it here, maybe it will work at other APXed devices too?
best regards,
rhymex (from germany)

i know that thread....but i don't know how nvflash should help me and i even don't know how it works ?
and i don't want to flash anything untested or unsafely things with this tool...
i don't want that my one x will be more a paperweight after playing with this tool than it is already.....no thx... :laugh:

Lol oke i understand that, but afaik apx is almost the same as a brick anyway.......

Apx mode is related to a hardware failure there is no way to get out of apx mode HTC will simply replace the main board on the device when this happens. I am convinced that my one x failed due to the sound enhancements and the heat problems I had with this phone this is why I only rooted my next phone just before my upgrade.

ok i got my HOX stuck in APX mode and i was messing around thinking it was dead anyway, but what i fund is if you install the APX usb driver and then hold volume up and hold the power button until restart the phone will go out of APX mode, it worked for me may work for you :good:

It will come back in time

One X dead APX in device manager

I was just browsing my phone when something came up on the phone about an update, it wasn't the rom or htc update, then as I thought about what to do the screen went blank back light still on, I let it for a minute or so in the hope it would resolve itself but nothing, so I held the power button to reset the phone turned off and since then I have been unable to turn it on again, in the device manager when I connect the phone it says APX some times dropbox will show and ask if I want to scan for photo's
Help the phone is rooted and I'm worried about the warranty!!!
Thanks In advance

Stop worrying about the warranty. As far as a problem like this goes, you don't have one.
You say you held down power to reboot and now you can't turn on but you go on to say drop box sometimes works? Can you elaborate?

It came on once and said there were no photos to update, it hasn't come up since, all I get is APX, if I hold power it goes off for second then APX comes up in device manager, I've also installed the apx drivers and I can use nvflash but I wouldn't know the first thing about what to do here, nv flash does work though.

I dont think APX drivers are of any use to you but if you can boot into bootloader then you should be able to flash custom recovery, how did you manage to boot into bootloader from apx mode, did your screen come on when you were in apx mode???
My phone does not boot blank screen can boot it at all

How can I fix this?

Could you explain to everybody here what you did exactly ? Might be interesting for a few people here !
1 : Did it happen just by waiting for some time ?
2 : Did it happen by rebooting the phone ?
3 : It went into recovery when i .......
through APX mode we can flash bootloader i think, so if we'll know how to use it properly (how to enter in it, work with it, and exit from it), we won't need s-off!
so if somebody came out from apx, it's a good starting

By rest do you mean with it charging or not? As I am now having this problem and need a way out!
I think its very difficult to flash stuff with nvflash on a protected apx mode.
I got out of this for leaving the phone on charge for a short while, then whilst still on charge powering on and it came back to life!

Stock HOX - now in APX mode - help

Hi guys,
Some time ago, my HOX (everything stock) decided to loop boot and entering by itself in the bootloader menu. I tried to fiddle around with the options but the phone kept loop booting/[email protected]/enter bootloader. I left it discharge for some time (about 2 months I think). Now it won't power on (no LED, black screen). Connected to the PC, it shows up as 'APX' in device manager.
What are the steps to getting it working again?
Thanks in advance.

Take a couple of deep breaths and follow the RUU-instructions you can find in several topics here. The empty battery shouldn't be a problem. After one of my misflashes (yep, test some and screw it up sometimes ) i leave my phone bootlooping when charging. Leave it so for a night and de the battery will be charged enough to pull you trough the RUU-process.

Probably you will wait until somebody find or some info leak about Tegra3 NVFLASH for HTC ONE X. I have two HTC ONE X one is in APX mode
i replaced motherboard from this good one to bad and it was working, but that is expensive solution.
Up to now it is not possible to NVFLASH new bootloader (hboot) without HTC service. Hope something will apear soon.
Anyway i suspect that due to overheating there is some hardware fault, mine unit was in the car during somertime and i noticed to late
that position is not good. And as other people reported several force close, and going to boot loader itself then all stops just APX appeared
in device manager, also when you take off motherboard and connnect it to computer (only motherboard it also indicate APX after some minutes.
Until good news . bye!

If you phone boots into APX mode its because of a hardware failure that causes the firm/software to crash.
Theres no way to fix it yourself without replacing hardware stuff. Your Hoxis still under full warranty, send it for repair.
maybe this one will help you .. i manage to get out in apx mode by holding volume + button then plug charger .. ) then red light comes out .. leave for a full night .. then fry to open it . it will bootloop because you are in a bootloop state then try to access fastboot .. ) hit thanks if i helped you ...

HOX APX
I tried vol+ and power connect as suggested but no any indication, except APX disappear and unknown device appear, then on power on APX appear again. But tks anyway .
Htc locked apx mode, hence if you can access it either your board is fully discharged(rare cases) or something is burnt and it cannot be fixed without hardware replacement.

No its not.
APX mode is the first mode the device will ever see, it is the first part of its life and the APX mode is used to flash software onto it. Its like flashing the boot.img etc but at the very start of the devices life. Hense why it can be flashed without an unlocked bootloader or rooted etc.
APX mode isnt well known with the HOX however, and HTC will not help at all, as they know this is a work around from unlocking the phone to flash, which voids their warranty.
If your in APX mode, I would try and get the RUU for your device and run that.

I know that the APX Mode is the lowest software level of our devices, its more or less the BIOS of Android/Linux...
But do you know why NO one managed to boot into APX Mode on the HOX so far...WITHOUT a broken device? (-:
If you're following the Hox forums you will notice that there are sevearl threads about hox that are stucking in apx mode and once you are in apx mode their isnt a way yet to bring it back to life again. Often you will read as well, that the Hox behaved werid before, it was dropped, battery complety drained, or whatever...so i'm 99% sure that the reason that the Hox booted into APX Mode is a hardware defect/bug that leads the firmware to crash and boots the device into APX Mode.
..and no just running a RUU wont work. Also installing the correct nvflash drivers for you desktop OS wont help.
Your Desktop PC wont recognize your Device anymore...at least not in the state that is required to falsh it. It will show that your device is in APX mode..and here you are definatly not able to run a RUU.

my phone doesn't charge/boot... probably dead

i already searched a lot, but i didn't find anything useful so i post here hoping that someone can help me. i really need my phone so before send it to htc service i have to try to get it back working.
simply yesterday my phone went off because of low battery. when i got back home i try to charge it, but nothing happened. so i tried using pc in order to see if something happen, and led started to blink slow (orange led). so i turned it on, and it worked. then i was using it (connected to the wall charger) and it frozed, at 9% battery. so i tried to restart it (by pressing power and vol down), but nothing happened... it was completely dead, i tried:
-wall-charger;
-pc-usb;
-change different charger/different usb cables);
-i left it the night connected to the charger);
-no adb, and obviously i can't get the phone in recovery/bootloader/fastboot...
i was on hboot 1.3x... don't remember which number cause i updated the hboot a few days ago. i was on viper rom and i was using the tripndroid kernel based on official nvidia sources (really like their works )
hoping that someone can help me
however in the next days i will send it back to htc but i need to try something cause i really need my phone in those days and i have no replacement. will htc repair my phone for free? (remember that i unlocked it)

That means your phone is broken. It needs a new motherboard.
Nobody has recovered from that. Some people have managed to get the phone working after APX, but it seems to go back to APX mode.
Sorry. Back to HTC it goes...
ok thanks... it is and hardware fault or it's because of the custom rom/kernel?

yeah, pretty tricky too
Yes installing apx drivers doesn't fix anything by itself. It gives you the ability to communicate with the device in this mode.
But there is no discovered user way of entering this mode at present.
The only way that is known is an error before it gets to the bootloader. As the bootloader is the first thing to load software wise on the device during power on. The failure is happening before that which usually indicates that there is faulty hardware surfacing
