i'm assuming you have tried and do not like any of the keyboards on the play store.
i've been using swiftkey for over 2 years and i dont see myself switching anytime soon.

I have tried, but I find the original one fits my needs and I want him back:banghead:

n00b lol. it's there to allow you to change what keyboard you're using. if you know you specifically want to use one and never change it then disable the rest of them in language and input under settings and it'll disappear.

It's part of ICS. Was a little odd to see at first, but a handy way of switching keyboards. I suggest you get used to it cause future versions might still have this as part of the OS.

Just search the threads for how to root your phone. Its easy takes about 10-15 minutes not even. Then after you have root, download the app from the play store and uninstall anything you want, just be careful not to uninstall the wrong thing.

[Q] Is there a way to get 4.2 messaging app or group messaging?

Have the same question. Would like the group messaging feature.
I believe using Handcent give you the group messaging feature.
Yea I don't like that app at all. I have group messaging on my S3 via custom ROM. Guess I will just need to wait for the same on here.
Wish we would have group messaging as well....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Can't someone on 4.2 just post the APK?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
if you have the custom rom pull it from the apps folder - may be under system using 7zip or something similar and then just drag/drop it somewhere in your phone when it's plugged into your computer that you will remember. use root explorer or similar app to navigate to the saved app and click on it, it'll auto install... total time 2 mins
But where do I get the APK for the new messaging app?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Any zip with the apk in it will work, then use the previously mentioned method. Or look in the apps/themes subforum

I know that but the fix for the tw framework is incorporated in there. The 4.2 app will work for the most part as long as the framework is modded. All you'd have to do is replace the MMS.apk in the zip with whatever MMS.apk you wanna use and flash in recovery as long as the framework comes from the same base as my ROM
Sent from my SGH-I317 using xda premium
K hold on.... I just got extremely confused..... So this is what I understand...
1. Download a zip of a 4.2 rom (any phone?)
2. Go to apps and copy the mms.apk
3. Paste it anywhere on my ext SD
4. install it.
5. I should have group messaging???
Because I tried this and I got problem parsing package when trying to install.... What am I doing wrong?

Nope.
You can find the MMS.apk ya want with a Google search for it. Once ya got it you would use a root explorer and place it in your system-apps directory. Then you have to set the permissions on the apk for read/write-read-read. You also have to rename the stock messenger from secmms.apk to secmms.bak. Then reboot. Then the messenger program will show up but you will not be able to use the MMS feature as it will fc the program. That's why you need the modded framework. Its not perfect but MMS will work with the Cingular APN setting.

You won't find it in the folder on your phone. Get a ROM zip and extract the whole 600+ MB file. You'll find it there.
Since you are on stock, look for stock ROM zip. Should be in one of the threads under development.

[Reward] Stock keyboard on Carbon ROM

I'm on the July 16th version of Carbon ROM, it's 4.2.2. I do not like the android keyboard it uses and none of the solutions on the carbon thread have worked for me. I've also done a bit of googling but it didn't help. I'm looking for the stock samsung keyboard my phone came with out of the box. If you help me get it on my phone, you will be rewarded with $5 PayPal if you please. Thanks

I didn't download it but if that's just SamsungIME.apk it week not work (which is what he wants). First, there are a couple libs and alert app needed just for SamsungIME. Second, it needs TW Framework which is where the real problem lies.

Bummer. Disregard then. It is the samsung ime apk. Didn't realize it was so integrated. Lib files can easily be copied, but if it's integrated into the framework, that's a whole other beast.
He may want to look at installing swipe or smart keyboard instead.

Swype and the other just aren't the same for me. It's a shame because carbon has so much to offer. Might have to switch back to Jedi or something. I wish I started off on a different keyboard because I'm so used to this one.
