Sprint pulldown text hauts me! - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Ok, so I have been trying for months to get rid of the dreaded sprint text on my drop down. I have successfully edited it to something else and even deleted it altogether in the ERI.XML file. In both cases editing the string kills the cellular link on the phone. The 3g icon changes to a circle with a line through it. I have read more articles than I can remember on the different ways to do this and tried most of them. Nothing seems to work. I am running Mack's plane jane 1.1 and borrowed the systemui.apk from whompasaurus 4.2 for attributes that better suit my modification goals. Plane jane has the sprint text removed by default but unfortunately whompasaurus does not. When I swapped the systemui.apk it brought the sprint text back into the fold. If you're wondering why I swapped systemui files it's because the whompasaurus version has a very nice red system clock that displays the day, time and am/pm notation and plane jane clock is stock. If anyone knows of a way to either definitively remove the text or at least set it to be transparent so that it's not visible I would appreciate the assist. I'm thinking the transparency may be the way it's handled anyway. Also on a side note. Does anyone know how to get rid of the home button wake recent apps displaying on a custom rom. If I flash back to stack and update all the way up to MC2 it's fine until I flash a custom rom. After flashing the custom rom the bug returns. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Custom theme help (myn/riptide combo)

Hopefully someone can help me. a little background. I love a lot of the icons Riptide uses and the color menus. I also love a lot of the custom ui elements of myns.
In the past i have been able to "combine" the elements by editing the theme and have done a pretty good job doing the new riptide v9 and Myns rom (rls 4). I have everything almost exactly how i want it except for 1 part. This is what i am hoping someone can help with. As a warning i am not a developer just someone who has played around with changing themes etc to get the effect that i want.
In warm 2.2 when you pull down the notification bar you have a switch toggle. For some reason i cant seem to get it to show all the icons when i use riptide. it only shows 4. (see picture below.) I wouldn't mind the icons going back to the original ones in Myns if by changing them would still leave the icons on the notification bar itself as is. Anyone have any ideas on what i can tweak to try to get all of the toggles back on the screen? Is this something i would have to edit the .jars for? (havent had to edited them so far)
as an update i still can not get this working hopefully someone with more theme experience then me will be able to help. I have tried going .png by .png to find the gray boxes that show up. I believe i found them as the myn framework does not have that .png and it looks to be the box however i cant just remove the .png without bootloop. I am guessing i will have to adjust a .xml file or .jar to get this working as well

[Q] MOD or THEME Question....HOW DO I GET IT BACK???

Hey folks!
I've noticed that some of the ROMs have a number displayed in the battery indicator, at the top right corner of the screen(I think it's called the status bar area). I'm running the latest Sprint Lovers ROM and originally I had this feature. I kinda liked it. Actually, I like it alot. So yesterday I added the power control widget to my notification bar and in the process I overwrote whatever was enabling the percentage to be displayed inside of the battery indicator. So my question is how can I get that feature back on my EVO?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm new to this stuff. I have no clue how to edit an .apk. But can I just copy the original framework-res.apk from the Sprint Lovers zip file and overwrite the existing framework-res.apk on my phone?? Will that do it?

[Request] Modded Framework/UI for Litening

Since i dont have the slightest idea how to do this myself...
Is there anyone that would consider slightly changing the Litening 1.0 framework/UI for me?
I like the rom, it works very nicely, just a few things id really like to change with its look.
I really have trouble with reading menus (the ones that appear when phone is doing something or when you press long to get menu for copy, paste, move...) when the text below them is seen through, id also love to have the notification panel that you pull down without the logo in a simple black non-translucent color.
So if you could make version with the menus and those windows non-transparent, make the notification panel also a simple non-transparent black without the logo and if its not too hard maby add the overscoll glow... i know its a long shot asking this just for me, but id be so happy if this could be done and i bet some other users might also like such a mod...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101879
here it is
I know of that one, but all the menus are still transparent, as well as the notification area (it doesnt have the logo which is nice, but its transparent instead). I really cant use transparent windows as it literally makes my head hurt. Thats the thing i need the most, solid menus/windows/notification area like all the other roms have. The circular battery icon from litening id miss if i used that mod, i really like that circular battery icon. So basically just need to get rid of transparency, the rest is pretty much gravy in litening... the overscroll glow would be a nice bonus, but not nearly as important to me.
I know this is a bit off topic now, but is there any way i could get the power savings widget like it was on the Galaxy S (think it used to be called power control and it had just wifi, bluetooth, gps, sync and brightness) with either blue or green lights? Could i get the one from Galaxy S somewhere that would work or has this already been made somewhere maby?
Or another way would be if someone would deodex the stock framework from KE7 for me so it would work in Litening 1.0... or teach me how to do that myself...
That would replace the menus and notification area with the stock one and leave the system menu and battery icon intact right?
Anyone willing to deodex it for me or at least tell me how to do it myself?
What do you want done? Just a black notification pulldown with no transparency? If so, if you upload your SystemUI.apk from your system/app folder I will do it for you.
EDIT: Or don't bother, I see you've just gone offline. If you want it done in the future, send me a PM.
PM sent. 10char.

[Q] Removing the Alarm Icon in ICS

I tend to customize ROMs to suit my tastes a little better and one of my biggest peeves is the alarm icon that shows in the status bar when you have any alarms set. I'm used to removing in GB, but from what I've seen the way to disable it has changed in ICS.
Would anyone that knows how to remove this be willing to offer some advice? I'm familiar with decompiling APKs and editing .smali files and whatnot.
PS I don't want to just delete the icon, I don't even want the space left up there.

From what I've read it is a smali edit in systemui. However, I think the smali code changed drastically between ICS 4.0.3 and 4.0.4. Where I was able to reference and make changes to 4.0.3, the code is completely different on 4.0.4 so if you find out anything, please let us know. Any other mods you come across too btw.
However, I've discovered that certain smalis from 4.0.3 CAN be changed and replaced in 4.0.4. I found this thread here by Datajosh that does a different status bar edit for the AM/PM removal for reference:

Edit: Umm, please make sure you have a current backup before messing around with systemui.
Oh btw, deleting the alarm png file does work btw. But not the proper way of course.

[Q] Adding Circle Battery to Stock T999v JB

With the latest update on friday for our Canadian variant t999v every battery mod and theme seems to be broken. I am by no means an expert but I am looking for help in getting at the very least a circle battery mod working.
I think my best bet is probaby to take the stock systemui.apk and try and manually change the icons in it for the circle icon. But I am guessing it won't be that easy because some code needs to change....
If anyone has any ideo how I could go about porting one of the old circle mods I would appreciate it.
Also would like to get rid of the brightness slider, the old ways of doing this are all broken on the new stock rom
