Delete Halo? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Now that Halo is open, I foresee pretty much every ROM update to now include it. Personally, I don't see the big deal about the feature and wonder if there is a way to delete it from a ROM either prior to or after flashing. Anyone know?

Well, I understand that. I'm just wondering if there is anyway to get rid of it. If not, I'll have to live with it being there. In my eyes, just not enabling it would be the same as having a Facebook app even though I'm not on Facebook.
Maybe I'm missing something. Is there a way to disable it in settings, so I don't have that icon in my notification pull down?

Its part of the framework. So I don't think so. You could always use a ROM without Halo.

Bummer. I just noticed that at least 2 ROMs I poke around with have updated to include it..so, I'm guessing most will eventually and my options for avoiding it will be limited. Not a big deal and maybe I'll grow fond of it, but I don't think so. Seems kind of redundant to me..I'll just have to learn to live with it I suppose.

Yeah. Its more of a feature that compliments the expanded desktop mode where you dont have a notification drawer visible. But not everyone wants that. I feel the same way.

For example, I use expanded desktop but just the soft keys are hidden, I leave the status bar visible.

yea it is getting baked in as is being done with uxylon, carbon and what seems now to be p.a.c.
while with p.a.c. it is using its PA pulled parts for it, uxylon and carbon have it baked in so there really is no removing it

Like every option, it should have a disable option...

I agree that would be nice...but, I'm no dev and I would never ask for it outta respect..But, definitely would be a nice option. Like PIE is always an option.

No I'm using the Quick Settings found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16347577&postcount=4
Unfortunatly I don't know where they originaly came from. I'll I know is they are the only one's that I've found that actually work.
Should be noted that I am also using the 4 settings tybe apk's from the vision_gingersense-2.30.405.1 Rom because they do not have the 4G settings in them.
Come on guys somebody has got to know something, lol
I'm thinking the .xml's in the systemUI.apk aren't looking in the right place for the info that it needs. I'm just not good with that kinda stuff yet though.

Sense 3 or not it still looks the same. I need to figure out how to make it look for what it wants to find. Darker header and pulldown dosn't matter at this point...
Its one of those features people want and if I can make it work I don't mind putting it in.
Happened to me before on a rom, but I can't remember which. Reboot helped for a little while, but it returned shortly after.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Its just kinda weird that a systemUI.apk from Sense 3.0 will work even with those weird strings but a systemUI.apk from any of the current 2.1 roms on the forums won't even work.
What happens is if I grab the systemUI.apk from any of these 2.1 that has the quick settings with sliders and put it in my rom the status bar won't show up. Theres no force close...nothing.

FINALLY!! Touch-auto-exposure in Jelly Bean camera!!

For the longest time most Android camera apps are incapable of auto adjusting exposure to suit the touch-focus area, a feature that's found in HTC Sense camera and iOS camera. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just realized that this feature has finally been added to Jelly Beam on GNexus!! For this feature alone I'll stick with Jelly Bean instead of AOKP ICS.
Just wanted to share this as I thought some might find it useful.
Cheers.
--
Edit: I'm really surprised by how many people have absolutely no idea what touch-exposure is. The keywords are highlighted in red above. If you still have no idea what it does, borrow an iPhone from your friend, try touch-focus a few different areas with different brightness levels within the same view, you'll know what I'm talking about. Sadly most people don't even know what they are missing out....
This is awesome if true!

I think it's automatic... uh "touch-auto-exposure" is in the name. Wherever you touch on the screen automatically applies the correct exposure.
You can also take pictures while recording video, just tap on screen.

I'm always baffled why Google didn't implement this earlier. iOS and HTC Sense have had it for a while.
And guess what, even Galaxy S3 still does NOT have this feature..
better known as touch to focus :silly:
I'm confused. What exactly are we talking about? Does touch-to-focus do something it didn't do before? And autofocus doesn't do it?
I think Touch to Focus was absent in AOSP until JB. I used it today without realizing it is a new feature, works exactly as it should.

Enabling Nav-Bar via .buildprop?

On my old T-Mobile Vibrant before it was an option in CM we were able to enable the nav bar by editing the .buildprop. Can you do this on the T-Mobile S3 running CM10?

I'm sorry if my reply wasn't up to your exemplary standards, but I fail to see how was this^ or "Got me there lol did you try Google?" are any better. What I posted was actually a viable option that the Op may not have been familiar with. It allows for an easy addition of the NavBar, customization of the icons, resizing of the bar, and it's based off of the AOSP just as CM is.
Not everybody that posts an alternative is screaming (if you want to do that, you're dumb of not using this). Some are really just informing.

Telling someone to run a completely different ROM is not a solution to "enable nav bar via build.prop" however making a suggestion in an alternative ROM is different then commanding someone to do something. My first post was very helpful thank you very much. As was my second. The op and I were throwing ideas back and forth, I asked if he tried Google because that's what my next option would have been. Not to mention Google is solving his issue, not commanding someone to change their ROM. At least my posts were on topic.
Now to remain on topic, I think the sizing is determined by framework files and values.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I believe size cannot be changed via build.prop. You have to change the dpi but that makes everything bigger or smaller.
Yes you have to decompile and recompile the framework-res.apk to resize the navigation bar or to add power button to it.
Thanks for the replies

Hello. This method works great and actually adds the Nav Bar menu to your phone settings, which lets you modify the position and functions of the Nav Bar (including adding a menu button). Just flash the appropriate zip in the below thread and you should be good to go. There is also a zip for removing the Nav Bar as well.

Softkey enabler!!!! Application!!

so i found a cool app, you just need a rooted devices and busy box installed and it will work like charm, here's the link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatedevgroup.softkeyenabler&hl=tr
tested on our device, no flaws or problems
here it is, 100% working
I see people using this and my question is..why do I want to lose screen real state if I have actual buttons? Just curious not meaning to be an ahole
can be useful, if somehow you break your homebutton and it's a matter of choice, mate.

Exactly... also, if you use your S-pen exclusively, this could be handy for spen back-key, menu-key functionality. I thought I read that certain apps (like stock camera) get partially "cut-off" in landscape mode... not sure if that playstore app solved this or not.
I wish you could colorize either the buttons or the bar or both as in CM10/AOKP ROMS. I find myself using the soft keys exclusively when I'm running those types.

I was able to do it by just changeing the build.prop but the question is, is there a way to SHRINK the buttons, they dont need to be this big on this screen. I hope the next sammy phone has soft buttons or atleast ones that work with the pen!! gurr!
To enable soft keys just down load Pimp my Rom from play store and enable it. This app didn't work on v any of the 3 roms I tried it on

QuickPulldown on Sense?

There's an option on most AOSP roms i've used where pulling down on the status bar from the left or right directly opens the quick settings (pulling down normally reveals notifications). i've seen the setting called "Quick Pulldown" in most custom ROMs
Is there a way to get this functionality (xmod etc.) in Sense based roms?
EDIT: here's an xposed mod i found that adds this behavior

I was messing with Sense Toolbox, and even some of those Mods made Bonestock start jittering up a bit. I clean installed and decided that I'm not going to keep noodling around for no reason. Sense 5 as tweaked by Andy is perfect.

yeah exactly. instead of all-in-one packs i've been trying to install specific xmods for the few features i want/am missing.
I like Andy's flashable zips to add things on. All I really needed extra was the long press back to kill. I can't stand idling programs even if Android's memory management and battery efficiency has improved.
