[Q] About choosing the build for note 2 in the toolkits - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for this noob question. I am lost at choosing the build for my note2 N7100
My Baseband version is :
N7100XXDLK7
but My build number is:
JZO54K.N7100ZSDME1
So I should choose:
[Build DLK7-DLL7]
or
[Build DMA3-DMC1]?
I am struggling, coz Baseband version isn't Build number right?
Or my device isn't listed in the Toolkits?
Coz there is no other choice for 4.1.2 build.

Are you using a stock rom rooted or is it a custom rom ?

I think all firmwares are rootable, it depends on the provider though..some providers like Verizon(not sure) requests providers to lock the devices so it wont be rooted, but as for firmware, all firmwares are rootable:angel:

You should always install mods that corresponds to your "Build Number".
So in this case download the mod for LL4.
Hope that helped :good:

New phone, Android 4.1.1

I just got my new Note 2 (AT&T) and it comes with Adroid 4.1.1. I plan to root it and flash a custom rom but should I first update it to the latest version of Android? If so, how do I do that exactly? I used the check for updates feature but it said my AT&T software was up to date. I don't think it was checking the OS version though.
If u plan on flashing a new rom there is no need to update to 4.1.2
Just root and flash whichever rom u want.

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure if the rom image flashed on top of the OS or if it included all ofthe OS. Now I understand.

The latest official stock ROM in my country is JB 4.1.2 ..... Am i missing something ??
If you don't use custom rom. No matter just put the latest firmware.
If you enjoy custom you must put a custom kernel and another recovery like pgilz or twrp
Which 4.1.2 build are you running? Anything after dll7 I think should have the fix implemented.

If I install a stock based 4.1.2 rom such as alliance and do not install any special kernel, will I be safe?

It's the build number/version. Can't exactly remember how to check it on Samsung roms, I think you dial something like *#1234# in the dialer.

Try rooting and installing custom rom. It might solve your issue also as it resolve my random restart problems before.
Btw I used android revolution hd v17.

It depends on the ROM you are trying to install.
Most ROMs will have specified in their post which firmware (4.1.2 or 4.2.2) they are using. You need to upgrade or downgrade according to that if you want to install that ROM.
Currently we have a lot of CM10.1 based ROMs like SlimBean, PACMAN, AOKP, Resurrection, CM10.1.3 etc, all of these are based on 4.1.2 so for using any of these you need to downgrade to 4.1.2 before you install them. We also have "GENNXT Superior ROM" which is based on 4.2.2, so you need to be on one of the 4.2.2 firmwares to install it.
Just read the instructions by the ROM dev in the first post of the ROM and you'll know if you need to be on 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 to use it.
Thnxx a lot biddy...
