[REQ] New MMS App - One (M7) Themes and Apps

Wondering if anyone has any good sugguestions on an app that has a pop-up function and to turn the screen on when the phone *IS NOT* in your pocket.
So basically it will turn the screen on when the phone is on a table therefore preventing any accidental texts being sent

Q&A section maybe?

Using wireless when on the phone

i submiited a thread asking how to keep the screen on when youre on the phone and on wireless. but maybe i can just ask it this way. does anyone use wireless when on the phone and if so doesnt your screen turn off all the time since the phone knows your making a phone call?
If you are talking about wifi data transfer while on the phone. Download Spare Parts and in wifi section set to never sleep when screen is off.

Yea I do it all the time, you might have something blocking your sensor, say your finger which causes the screen to darken/go black.

Yeah, doesn't happen to me either. I can search contacts or the web on wifi or 4G with no black screen.

Neat Screen off feature

I stumbled across a cool little feature while the screen is off. Cover the light and proximity sensors for several seconds and the top half of the screen will emit an aqua blue aura that displays missed calls, messages, and battery. I know this feature is somewhat useless, just thought I'll do some digging after it accidentally popped up on me while handling the phone.
Edit: Cool, I didn't realize it was the Quick Glance feature. Thought I was going crazy when I couldn't figure out how to reproduce it.
Hmm I do not see that

Doesn't happen here, either. Is this some kind of buried setting?
I could see this being useful if it could detect your phone is in your pocket, and when you pull it out, it would show that information.
It's in settings - motion - quick glance.
Then if you scroll down while still in motion to advanced settings there are more options for it in there.

Yeah I found it, very neat. I turned it on, I'll see if I continue to like it or if I find it annoying.I turned on a few more motion features. Why not try them?
The phone must also be laying flat (like on the table for example) otherwise it doesn't work.
Yeah it doesn't seem to be too reliable plus the info goes away too fast for me
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
thanks for this...no more pressing the power button when my phone is on the nightstand just to see the time or battery...etc...nice feature
Cool.

Does turning this on have and detrimental effects on battery life? Does it get activated accidentally in your pocket?
Love it. Wish it was faster, though. My screen turn on lag is not good
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I noticed you can press the touch keys in those few seconds while the screen lights up and it will make the drip sound... little annoying in the middle of the night.

Don't think it would do much damage to the 3100mAh battery. I'm still getting over a day's use, at least 6 hours of screen on with the quick glance feature on. According to others, it only triggers if the phone has been laying on a flat surface. So I think it'll be just fine in our pockets.

Is there a mod that will turn off my screen when I close my flip-cover?

I have the Samsung Flip Cover on my GN2. I would like to have the screen turn off whenever I close the cover. Is there a setting or app that does this?
Thanks.
Ah just found this. Will see if it works
Pseudo-Smart Cover - Cover turns screen off when closed.

** Of the Market Apps available, Screen Standby seems to work the best for me.
I've been using Intellicover for this very purpose and it works great. Once you have it set up. The whole idea is annoying for when you accidentally slide over the proximity sensor and your screen goes dark.
But on the plus side, I can now "magically" turn my phone on by waving my hand over it!

Yeah it can be a pain in the butt, especially when writing notes and you keep turning the screen off. I eventually decided to just push the power button before I close the front cover.

I found "case sensor for tablets" in play when I had my tab. It should work. It might also be paid? Cool thing about it was you can set a timer so it turns off say 3 seconds after closed vs if you accidentally cover it.

I use "proximity screen off" it works great and has lots of options, Like delay so you won't accidently turn off. And an excluded apps list so you can turn it off in certain apps only.there is a Free version too. I donated its a great app.

[Q] I have a few questions about my new Optimus G Pro

I recently upgraded to the LG Optimus G Pro and I love it and all, but while I'm at work when I get messages, my phone does all sorts of crazy things in my pocket because the screen comes on. I was wondering if there was a setting that I was looking over that would stop it from doing that? I'm trying not to root it because I know the bare minimum about rooting phones, but I did root my Galaxy s2 Skyrocket with youtube tutorials.

What things is it doing? I have the flip case and that keeps it from coming on and such. I think there is a pocket mode in the setting(I could be wrong about this though) check in display section or even under notifications.

Or go into the offending app that's causing you trouble and turn notifications off.

I think there are a few others who have complained about this as well. I don't have a texting plan (I use Google Voice), so I haven't ever experienced this. However, if there aren't any options in the phone settings, there may be another way.
I seem to be on this Tasker kick lately, so when someone has a problem that is related to the phone sensors or events, I tend to think "how can I fix this with Tasker?!" . As a result, I have made an app really quick using Tasker and have even included the project XML if you want to fiddle with it on your own. It does NOT require root. However, it will need you to install another free app called "Secure Settings" and give it administrator rights in your phone settings. All that the app does is wait for an incoming message and checks to see if the proximity sensor detects something in front of it. If it does, it turns the screen off. However, like I said, I don't have a texting plan, so I haven't had a chance to really test it. The app interface is just an "ON/OFF" button and a "Close" button. If it doesn't work, just turn it off or uninstall it. It is set to "OFF" when it is first installed.
Alternatively, you can play around with it if you get Tasker. I think there is still a trial period you can get if you aren't sure if you want to buy it. Let me know if it works or if you have any other questions.
I named the xml file as a .zip just to upload to xda. Just rename the file without the ".zip" at the end and then you can edit and/or import to Tasker.

This is easily fixed, just change the lockscreen to anything other than swipe and the phone will no longer accidentally become unlocked in your pocket

Okay I just realised that there is an emergency call button on the screen when you have either pin, password or pattern unlock set. If you just have swipe, there is no emergency call button. Maybe this will help?

Proximity sensor

So I have the survivor case by griffin technology and it seems to block the sensor. Every time I need to make a call or answer a call I have to take the top portion off to answer or hang up the call. Is there an app to disable the sensron

Open your dialer and push menu and go to call settings. Disable turn off screen during calls. It will keep the screen on so you can make our hang up calls manually.

Try darkening the area around the opening to the proximity sensor.
## Found this in android forums ##
Alister, what is the color(s) of your Otterbox? Mine is the grey/white, and I solved my prob, just like yours, by darkening the area just above the proximity sensor with a fine-tipped black Magic Marker pen. Additionally, you can get an app that tests all of your S4's sensors, including the proximity. Mine is called Z-Device test, and works great. Get back..

For reference to anyone else finding this thread, this will only work on TouchWiz roms. AOSP rom's typicaly don't have the option to disable the proximity sensor.

I don't have that option in the settings of CM11. In my case I can't get the screen to come BACK ON during a call when I pull it from my face. So much for using the dialpad during an automated menu call..

You can cut out or drill the case where it overhangs the sensor.
Sent from your phone. You should be more careful where you leave that thing.
