Nfc Problem - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know what has happened, I haven't messed with anything I shouldn't, but for some reason, my nfc has stopped working!
Is there anything I could check to see if something is missing or deactivated or something because it's doing my head in!

Did you remove the back plastic cover of your phone?

I have had the cover off and a cheap flip cover on which does not have the nfc chip on and the phone never did anything different.
I have the original cover on with the chip and it's not working.
I don't know the exact time it started, I've only just noticed it.
Even restarting my phone has no effect.

Bit of an update, going into settings and turning the nfc on with the switch turns it on but it crashed the os.
Since then it appears to be working again but, I will need to find a nfc card to test.

Known bug. When the NFC toggle goes blank, just hit it, let System UI crash and re-open, and the toggle will work until you reboot again.

Yeah i have experience many times on my device (with different stock roms).

Crazy High Dialer Sensor Use

Hi,
I'm running Deck's ROM 1.2.1 and Tiamat 4.0.6 on my phone. I used Unrevoked 3 to root. I've been noticing very high sensor use by the Dialer and my direct dial shortcuts dial the last number I called, regardless of which one I try.
I did a 3x wipe and Nandroid backup so I can always restore. I have Amon's Recovery.
The Android System sensor usage is low. Dialer usage reads for however long I've had my phone unplugged. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I tried that, too, and it still happens. I will try fixing them again and it that doesn't work I'll try another fresh flash after wiping.
Thanks for the suggestions! You guys are great!

Did you check out the thread on "wake issue?" There has been lots of discussion, but more importantly there is replacement phone apk's that either properly release the locks or don't use the sensors at all. Seems you could before from it.

Try to be in a stock ROM or another custom and if the problem still occurs then the screen itself has problem and needs to be taken in service center(u need to remove root, custom rom)

Than its not software but a hardware problem.

But if its hardware releted, how was he able to take a screenshot of the problem?
It screenshots what it sends to the screen right?
Anyhow yes, take it to the service center they will fix it.

screen flciering doesn't mean the whole screen is 'bricked' or something.
you see he is in gallery. if his whole screen was broken there would only be a black screen, but you did feel your battery getting hot, because your phone was on, but the screen broken and so could not display anything. and yet, it screenshots what it sends to the screen, so you can also see the flickering.
there is a part of it broken, and a part still working, and the screenshot-taking part is still working.

Working OK here, what specifically had been the issue?
It works out the box and with fresh reboot.
Try toggle GPS off and on, the try GPS test again.

Gotcha...
That's a software issue.... At least it's not hardware like my old vibrant.
So you can replicate the issue too?
I hope Google fixes it soon because I need the tab for a trip.

Yup, reboot cleared it up. I would have not noticed, since I rarely toggle GPS anymore.

The real culprit is new maps version, if you can find and downgrade to version 6.14.4 you will be fine. I know it coz I faced similar issues with upgrade but I had a backup of my map app which saved me

I think they mean this:
From what I can tell, it appears every time you connect to a new WiFi network. If you have sleep mode enabled (which means it turns off data and WiFi after not using your phone for awhile), then you'll see this notification multiple times a day.
ah. yeah I get that too
