[GUIDE] Use Volume Key For Flashlight with Screen Off - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

How to activate the flashlight on the lock screen.
1. You will need to install either Nova or Apex launcher. You don't need to keep this as your launcher in the future, but just to activate this trick.
2. Once running, press & hold an empty spot on your home screen. You will get this window, and choose 'shortcuts'

}
3. Then select activities.
4. Once this loads (can take a bit if you have many things installed), select settings.
5. Now scroll down to Torch light and select either of the two.
6. It will now add the shortcut to your home screen. Tap on this icon.
7. Check the torch light option and then the time-out amount.
You can now switch back to the launcher of your choice and have the working flashlight. Just hold the power up for a short time and it will come on or tap to volume down to turn off.
Enjoy!

Awesome Thanks!
*edit*
Did not work for me. I'm on wicked v3 and ktoonzes kernel. No other mods other than nav bar.

I'm on Wicked ROM v3 with Faux Kernel and also using Nottach Xposed.

awesome find.. i know ill be using this!

Is this working for anyone? If so can you please check to see if this exists:
/sys/devices/virtual/torch/torch/torch_ctl
then tell me what ROM/Kernel combination you are running, then attach said file to your reply? Thanks!

Thanks![/QUOTE]
Nope.Does not work on stock Rom, rooted.

I don't know about the above method, but I am using "Tiny Flashlight" and that provides an option to toggle the light on the lock screen by shaking the phone. Works well enough for me.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Not sure why you guys are having problems with it, but Nottach also got it running & will include it in his next update (allowing you to map it to your home button instead of you prefer). So if you are running Xposed with his mod should be easier to setup/work.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Nottach Xposed v10 now available and includes trick for torch. Can set to home button too if you prefer over volume up.

Using the Nova Launcher and followed the steps...
Tried with each of the types and still no joy.
Every time I manually press the volume up and power there is no flashlight, just the 4 way power menu...
When ever I press and hold the icon itself, it gives the settings for the touch light menu to enable the touch light and with the time amount.
I have seen this short cut work with the AnyShortCut app...... maybe there was a step that was overlooked?
If someone figures this out, wonderful!

REQ- JB Remove Nav Bar

I found that the extra screen size that can be saved by removing the nav bar and using an app such as LMT to navigate, really got me used to having more screen real-estate.
I was wondering if any of you guys have had any luck in figuring this out with jellybean?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Yes, same here. I m so used to lmt and the extra screen size, can't wait for a mod in jb

I don't use this mod but there's a line to add to your build.prop that removes it.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
This tells android that your phone has hardware keys and disables the soft keys.

Read it on some forum... Guy said he worked for tmo and the region manager or something like that was told by a Samsung fellow it would be released (at earliest) in q1.. Again take it as a grain of salt lol

Can't set any security on it, therefore this is useless to me. But as for functionality, it worked flawlessly on Darkside Evolution v8. Notification drop down did indeed work along with the camera launch.
The only thing I dont like about these lockers is that pressing the home button from the lockscreen unlocks it, I saw an option on this locker to disable that, but it ended up disabling the home button completely

[APP] KTweaker | Ktoonsez | Kernel | Fast charge toggle

Hey guys. I wanted an easier way to toggle fast charging with ktoonsez ROM. I used to use the widget, but with my screen off profile, the widget would freeze and not work or display anything. So i designed an app that will automatically toggle fast charging on or off by simply just taping the icon in your app drawer. But instead i placed the app onto my lockscreen i may even think about binding it to the search key long press(menu key long press for our phones) But the app will toggle fast charging either on or off.
When it toggles fast charging on, it will automatically turn off the display as well so no hitting power button
Hope you guys enjoy it.
Be sure to thank ktoonsez for his amazingly awesome kernel and for supplying me with the information as what to change!
You need root. But obviously if you are running ktoonsez kernel, or any custom kernel, you prolly already have root
To install:
1. Copy to device.
2. Use a file explorer to browse to the apk tap it and install.
3. Open Settings > Security > Device Administrators
4. Select "Toggle fast charge"
5. Select "Activate" from the bottom of the screen. You will notice it only needs to lock the screen so its a safe app.
6. Launch the app and you should get a toast message.
Sorry to whoever downloaded this. But i forgot to implement a cleanup method. So it would have stayed in memory indefinitely redownload the one i posted in the OP its the same name but the code is different. It has proper clean up so it completely exits the service.
Screenshot of the activate window. (Truthfully I just wanted to play around with picShop

[Guide] How to get PIE (LMT) on any rooted phone

I am always reading through out the forums about PIE control.
The Following are links on where to get LMT launcher which is very similar to PIE in my opinion better.
A SMALL DESCRIPTION BY noname81 :
LMT is a tool for Android (tested already on multiple devices - see below) that launches a command when perform single touch or multitouch gestures on the screen (In any app/screen/etc.). You can connect basic and advanced commands to any gesture LMT supports. In addition to the gestures you can activate a system-wide PieControl for navigation like the feature in the ICS stock browser (touch the side of the screen to activate it).
I AM ONLY PROVIDING LINKS, BY NO MEANS AM I CLAIMING THIS WORK MINE. JUST MAKING IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO FIND ALL THAT THEY WILL NEED IN 1 PLACE.
LMT LAUNCHER
LMT does not replace your launcher(nova, adw, holo etc..)
Go check out How to set up PIE on any rooted phone VIDEO by ZEDOMAX
Thanks man! Do you think it'll work in Stock odex builds? I'm thinking it'll act weird with multi Window? I hope I'm wrong
Edit. I do appreciate the link but the more I thought about it I've come to realize that is not at all needed with the multi Window mod that let's you put all apps in the drawer. Probably the best mod samsung has made so far. Works perfect and extremely useful. I throw nova in there and that's my home button.

You're telling me mate. This rom is really slick. Everything runs well for me and I like the quick settings options! The only thing I miss is the option to change the screen off animation. I was really enjoying "scale down" on other KK roms.
This is incredibly light for how feature dense it is. I have tested it and really been enjoying it for a few days!
