I have tried three different ROM's so far on my SGH-T889 (Note 2).
First, the latest MIUI ROM, which is aesthetically pleasing, full with the usual tools, but a little buggy. The most important thing is that the it deals with my low T-Mobile signal (in certain areas) very well. This seemed to be the case with when I used the MIUI Rom on my Galaxy 1. With the MIUI Rom I am able to get H and H+ data connection in certain locations when other Rom's I can only get an unusable Edge.
Second,
I used the latest Cynagom nightly Rom which is really nice and some cool features but did not perform well with my weak signal in certain areas and was missing some of the features I have seen on some of these Rom's.
Lastly and currently I am on the Jedi-X Rom which is a really stable ROM with all the customization tools built in. But again, it does not work well with low and weak signal in certain areas.
Is there a place where I can find all the different .zip modems to use with these Rom's above for experimentation.

Okay, thanks for the response.
So, the modem used in the MIUI Rom is from the list of stock modems in the link you sent?
and I am assuming that these can all be flashed to any Rom I decide to use?

ROMs do not include modems. The modem you are using if you have not flashed one is the one that you had when you were on stock.

So I guess I have the latest modem because before I started flashing Roms I took the Over the Air (LTE) update.
Hi,
I have the older Tmobile Note 2 firmware. I have it VERY customized.
BUT i want LTE.
Is there any way to update to LTE and not update the other phone firmware?
If i flash an "updated modem"....does that mean I will get the LTE without the firmware update???
Sorry if this sounds stupid...im a newb
Thank u in advance.

Hopefully the member who answered my question can answers yours.
I wonder as well if the latest modem would give you LTE on your old stock Rom.
If it did, would the icon for data connection indicate it? Wouldn't the icon for LTE be built in to the Rom?
I guess you did not want to take the Over the Air update sent your phone from T-mobile?

That is funny. Before I started flashing Roms on my Note 2 I took the Over the Air update and Google play and everything worked great. I mean, LTE is only is certain locations right now but eventually I imagine you would want that latest modem (that came with the OTA update) because it is what allows you to have LTE.
I just flashed the latest modem while on MIUI. It took a second to register on the Tmobile network but it's working great.

Why it would depend on the ROM. From what I know the ROM wouldnt interfere with the modem. Usually, I just flash what ever modem I want and everything works fine.
Anyway, if I am correct then you guys can just download the LTE modem (UVBMD1) and flash it through your custom recovery (CWM/TWRP). And you should be fine and your data should be intact. Just make sure you do a nand back-up.

Considering the similarities between the domestic variants of the Note 2 and their international counterparts, would anyone be willing to test some of the success that the folks over in the AT&T forum have had with porting the international N7100/N7105 firmware/ROM's over to the T-Mobile Note 2
Check out these two threads over in the AT&T forum and see what you all think:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411
The basic gist of the procedure is to use a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash a stock N7100/N7105 firmware, and then flash your carrier specific modem/kernel.
Why would anyone want to do this? Well, for starters, you would benefit from built-in stock-supported tethering, and a few other features that carriers disable (YMMV). But mainly this means that the domestic versions of the Note 2 can benefit from the development of the international versions! So, when the latest version of Android comes out for the rest of the world, we aren't stuck here waiting for our carrier to catch up to everyone else...
So what do you all think? Anyone willing to try?

Actually, there is a port of cm10 for the ATT Note 2 device, it was ported from the official cm10 for the N7100 device by madmack. I'm running it on the T-Mobile Note 2 and to tell you the truth, it is very stable so far even if it's coming from a nightly build. Check out this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024495.
Once you go to that link, go to page 24 or 25 because you need to download 3 zip files in order for the rom to function correctly, also make sure to download the modem or radio because you need to flash that as well. Before you flash anything make sure to go to the OP for that rom and follow instructions thoroughly. If you're concerned for the S Pen functionality, don't worry, it works, I just had to download an app from the play store called Memo (which doest the same stuff as S Note.
Well if you wanna try, I don't have the time but .....
Here is some stuff to help you..
Do a Nandroid backup. or Titanium backup.
Do a full wipe,
Flash the rom you want, if given the option don't flash the modem
then flash Jedi-X Kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106549
Then if you had to flash another Modem for that Rom then flash http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote2/tmoroms/JediX/T889V_Modem.zip if that fist your PHONE (tmO)
I may do a video on it in Youtube if i get time but the omega rom was just taking too long to download so i am not trying it tonight.
I am going to flash Jedi X

I just tried this, and while the Omega ROM flashed just fine, I had no radio signal, no data, no calls, and the phone would not recognize my SIM Card. That is after flashing the Jedi Kitchen and the radio provided in the link.
The Omega ROM looks pretty awesome, it would be nice to have it working on TMO Note II's.
Disclaimer:
I have to admit, I've flashed 4 different ROM's so far, and only two of them have completed the install. The rest have failed during the update, or caused a boot cycle. This includes the Jedi Master ROM. So it's entirely possible I'm doing something wrong.

Hey did you ever try a complete wipe using TWRP as your recovery factory wiping then system wiping as well, I Also found depending on your SD card if you can back up your Sd cards Sometimes it is helpful to start with just the files you need to flash on the sd. Make sure that you only flash the correct radio. For me that was the latest radio I think its the second down in the list for the jedi kitchen part.

Can anyone answer if 4G and LTE is still working or is it 3G only? Are you able to still roam the same?
My gf just got the s3 for sprint. I have verizon. but she had a iphone and got good signal but now shes on the s3 she gets no signal at work. i updated the pri and profile but nothing helps. anyone know what i can do? thanks!
The Signal is dependent on many variables. Switching Carriers would be one of the those. It may that her previous Carrier had better coverage there. If she is Rooted, you could try a different Firmware / modem combo. If she is not, then the only thing you can do is Update PRL /Profile as you stated you alraedy did.
A signal booster helps tremendously! I had great coverage with my previous carrier but when I switched to Sprint I wouldn't get hardly a single bar, if any, in my condo. I installed a booster at home and problem solved!

It all depends on whether her device is Rooted or not ? If it is I would first check what the Baseband is currently. It will give an indication of what to do next. Also if her device is Rooted you may want to check out THIS thread.

Hey everyone,
Got a small problem, I just flashed the latest 10.2 cm nightly because I want a true aosp ROM on my "newer" gs3. Since flashing the ROM my data speeds have significantly slowed. I came from the 3.9.5 dandroid touchwiz and had fantastic 4g lte speeds for my location (about 4.5 MBS) now on the cm nightly I'm barely breaking 1 MBS and that's if I even receive my lte connection. I tinkered with the APN setting and am running on the sprint lte internet APN but isn't helping much. Is it a radio issue?
Thanks guys
Did you take note of what your baseband and what each kernel was in each rom? Is every ROM using the same baseband or is one possibly using an older version? What does the signal strength say as well? That would be under settings>about> or something like that. Current baseband is MD4.

Baseband is stored in places that rom flashes do not touch. They are independent of each other, and I've yet to see a dev even mess with installing a particular modem when you install their rom.

Confusion about modems + custom recoveries
Hi,
I have an i337m from Puerta Rico that I'm running on USA T-mobile. The radios are the initial release and I'd like to update them. I'm running Wicked V10. I've successfully (I think) done the AWS hack to get the GSM HSPA+ bands.
a) Do/Can I flash T-mobile S4 radios?
b) A little confused about flashing radios on a custom recovery. I tried flashing the MK2 radios but it obviously checked the boot loader when it failed.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the awesome help. I think I'm sticking with wicked s5 2.2 for now. It looks like it just seems to work and has the added bonus of being able to over clock and underclock a little. Ran into a few annoying bugs in aicp that's known but not fixed yet. (No 4g and forced into speaker phone)

Oh, no problem. Sorry for the delay here, but 4g should work on aicp. What baseband are you on?
Baseband is Nj2

I'm on nd8 and I don't have any issues flashing any rom or weirdness with features not working. My daily driver is a g900p and the same issue with the most recent baseband exists there too. I'll drag my L710 out and see what's what on it. Gonna be a lil bit tho. Household stuff to attend to
oops, im on MK3!! Ive run tons of ROMs on this baseband and havent ever had an issue. I dont have sprint LTE where i live, but ive been to places where there is sprint LTE and this baseband/modem/radio version has worked perfectly. The newest baseband isnt always best
there are many posts saying exactly what you said. Just they said nj2 was working fine and ah1 baseband doesn't work well. Also I'm not sure if you can downgrade firmware after mk something.
