In Accessibility Settings i have the Apps Light Flow & Tasker on. While these Apps are in the on position my stock Video Player's status bar will not go down if it is brought up, i have to rotate the screen in order for the status bar to drop again, so every touch of the screen while watching a movie or video causes the status bar to remain in the "seen" position. when i put Tasker and/or Light Flow in the OFF position the Video Player then works as intended. Any help with this issue besides suggesting a different Video Player?
I don't think so, Samsung has so many issues with apps using accessibility that I just stopped using them. I had this same issue while using Iphone Notifications but after noticing that it messed up the video player like this I just undinstalled it. You either have to live with it or stop using liteflow and tasker.

I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a week and a half now and at first I thought the new feature of music controls appearing on the lockscreen was being a bit buggy as sometimes I would not see them on the lockscreen while I was actively playing music on the phone. After paying closer attention to it though, it looks like what's actually happening is that the music controls just flat out don't show up on the lockscreen unless the Google Music app is open and showing on the phone's screen.
In other words, if you start playing music via the widget on one of your home screens by pressing the "play" button and thus do NOT fully open the Google Music app and bring it up on the screen, the lockscreen controls won't appear.
Does this ring true for you other Galaxy Nexus owners? If so, I have to say that I am *extremely* annoyed by this behavior with the lockscreen controls. I do not want to have to actually open the music app, bring it up to the screen and then select "play" just to have the lockscreen show the music controls. Having to go through that defeats a big chunk of the reason and benefit of having a widget for the music app! I just want to be able to hit "play" on the widget and go from there.
Anyone else able to verify this is how things also work on their own GNexus?
Thanks for sharing your info on this!
I don't have this issue with the Music app. As long as its playing, background or not, it will show up with controls on the lockscreen.
I am running a custom rom however I don't think that portion of the rom has been edited.

Hmm...okay, thanks for the feedback! Interesting to know because my stock Galaxy Nexus def has this problem on a regular basis.
Anyone running a stock GNexus care to comment?
I'm running a stock Galaxy Nexus and had the same issue. I eventually found that the "headset button controller" app (a third-party one) was disabling the lockscreen controls...
Had the problem on both stock ROM and bugless beast. Just switched to aokp 25 today hoping it will go away..
I also dont experience this when i have GoogleMusic installed instead of AOSP Music (which does not have lockscreen controls, if i recall it right).
currently running:
self-built aosp kang (aosp/master)
tweaked stock kernel 3.0.8
I'm the OP for this thread and just thought I'd comment since it's been "brought back from the dead" with some new posts.
Back in December when I was asking about this issue I actually managed to have a conversation about this issue with someone from Google who is part of the Google Music team and it turns out this issue was a bug they had missed. They said they would fix it in an update to Google Music and sure enough, about 2-3 weeks later they pushed out an update that fixed it.
I never ran into this issue again after that update, so just wanted to share the info.
Got my lockscreen music controls back!

Just and update, the music controls Are back, I don't to it was xenonhd that was causing it. I restarted and now it works so I dunno

So I don't know if I'm missing something obvious here, but there seems to be no lock screen music control on this phone. I know in previous versions of TouchWiz you had to use the Samsung music player, but even that doesn't display music control on the lock screen. I could use widget locker but I'd rather not use s 3rd party lock screen app if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

This drives me nuts and was one of the best features of AOSP on the S3. I can't stand not being able to control my podcasts. I think it's going to send me to Widgetlocker.
It just blows my mind that they would remove a feature like this. Anyone else have any ideas?
I've been scratching my head on this one too...
Am I going to have to use a 3rd party player?
You can access your drop down notification panel and control your music that way. It's a standard feature of Jelly Bean.

Google music player will display controls on lock screen.

That is just one of the problems, has anyone found a widget or feature where you can skip to a certain part of the song rather than just having pause/play, next, back?
I will get flamed but here is a picture from the fruit...*ugh* http://realitypod.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Clear-iPhone-Lock-Screen-from-Album-Artwork.png
WOW!
I guess the interest in doing this is just dead and gone. I am not a developer but I came from the "fruit" and bought the galaxy note II on Sprint and I would like to get some native (at least as close to native as I can get) controls on touchwiz. I know I'm in the T-mobile section but had to post a comment since this thread is about exactly what I want to get. I would be very interested in working on something or at least learning how to work my way around my phone and tweak it since I did so on the fruit phone.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to learning how to tweak my touchwiz lock screen?
I would like to at least try to get something to show up on the lock screen and start from there. Once I get something to show up like a button or a widget then I can maybe link it to the music player or any other player possibly.
I used player pro for a while but it uses it's own lock screen as does power amp and n7player, but to have native controls like the fruit does would be awesome. I would appreciate some help or links to resources while I look around because to me native is better and controls right on the lockscreen are better than notification controls, that's a whole extra step when you're in a car and your phone is docked or propped up on a holder, man it's a no brainer to have at least 3 buttons play/pause and back/forward.
Is there a way you can do this on Android? Like on iOS you can open up the notification bar in any app.

This is a feature in MIUI rom. Try it out
Any app that shows the notification bar would allow you to pull it down and view your notifications.
If you mean while playing games and other full screen apps then really having that function would defeat the object of it being a full screen app.
I hate the thought of losing some of my 720p screen while playing games just to see my notifications. Any text, email, calendar event can wait until I'm dona playing
Download Smart Statusbar from the Play Store! Will suffice your exact need!

Well on iOS the games are still full screen, its just that you can swipe the invisible notification bar 2 times down then it will go down.

This is how Smart Status works, that's the app you want.
Agreed, this app works like a charm and offers a decent amount of customization.

I know a lot of people don't like Touchwiz UI so they would suggest moving to AOSP our CM but I enjoy the motion features built in to the TW ROMs. With that in mind, are there any mods that can make the lock screen more functional?
I had CM7 on my captivate for a while and I loved having the audio player accessible from the lock screen. I tried widget locker on this phone (GS3) but it seemed to slow it down and the music controls were always there, even when I wasn't using the music player. If I remember right, on CM7 the music controls only showed up when I was listening to music.
^^^^ I also chose to stay TWUI due to all the features the phone provides. Hopefully we can get some devs on board to update the lockscreen. I would actually like an htc weather lockscreen port....

Widget locker. In the play store keep all the features of tw but totally and easily customizable lockscreen

I haven't found the setting that only makes the music controls appear when I am listening to music. You're saying it has that ability?

I use PowerAmp and the music controls (which look great) only show up when music is playing.
I presume you already know about adding icons, weather, stock, etc. to the lock screen via TouchWiz? Some replacements look interesting (I want one, too, hehe!): Hive Unlocker. Here's a list: http://techthumbs.com/replace-your-android-phones-lock-screen

Widget Locker does have this ability via widgets. In particular, Phantom Music Control https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.jhg.musiccontrolwidget&hl=en from the market is basically a widget with player controls along with music metadata. The widget has a neat ability to disappear when there is no music playing. HOWEVER, the widget is still there along with the controls so if your screen accidentally turns on, you run the risk of pressing those "invisible" buttons. I haven't used it since Gingerbread so they may or may not have addressed this issue.
Or if you're main concern is to just change tracks, look for a ROM that has "Long-press volume to change tracks". This is very convenient when you're working out or any other situation where you don't feel like turning your screen on just to change tracks. I'm using The Devil's Reject right now which has it already baked in. Very cool ROM as well!
Hello everyone, I am having an issue with the newly updated youtube app and the tab 3 8.0. When I go into fullscreen mode for videos the video loading bar, the one where you have the play button and allows you to fast forward and such things, is missing. I have looked all over the settings but cannot find anything that would fix it. The only options I when I am on full screen are: on the top left which once I click it the video that is playing gets minimized and continues playing on the bottom right (new youtube app feature), and the 3 options on the top right which are add this video to a later watch list, share this video and the menu button. On the bottom where the loading bar (i.e. playing bar) such be there is nothing. On my GS3 the bar is there so I know that it is not the app itself. If anyone else is experiencing this issue and knows how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
does anyone have this similar issue
This happens to with my youtube app also. I don't think it's an issue, I think its just part of the new design.
That's very unfortunate. I hope that this is changed on the next update because it makes no sense to have to change viewing format just so you can rewind a video.
This happen on my 10.1 too, and also on my galaxy s4 so its a new design thing
