Hey guys.
I know a lot of you are searching for a sound mod that works on HOX and can enhance audio nice and easy.
I found out that Viper V4A works for our device both on Sense and AOSP. Installation is pretty easy and uninstallation also.
Note: This is not only for Viper ROM! It's just name similarity. It works in every ROM, also it can be used besides other sound mods (I suppose).

This is not my work. I just posted it here for others to know that there is another sound mod available for our device.
There are two apks available that can enhance sound effects and clarity.
Instructions and download links:
Viper V4A
Note: In the processor settings in the first run of the app, you have to choose "CortexAx with NEON" for XHiFi and "CortexA9/15 with NEON" For FX.

Software Descriptions
★ ViPER4Android FX ★
Mainly renders audio quality and many effects. (More info see Settings Explained in 4th post)
★ ViPER4Android XHiFi ★
Mainly restores lossy audio quality. (More info see Settings Explained 4th post)
★ ViPER4Android FX and XHiFi combined (Refer coexists installation) ★
More settings to configure, more to play, extend audio effect limits!
★ NEW Effect Calibration ★
Every human's auditory systems are not the same, some people experience Left-Right asymmetries, while some with high-frequency phobia. Each individual has a different concept of the sound field. Therefore, through a simple calibration wizard, V4A system benchmark will be adjusted according to the calibrating result. This feature will make sure every V4A user experience its ultimate effects up to par.
★ NEW Natural Bass ★
Natural and bombastic bass, requires a little bit better headphone.
★ NEW Headphone Surround+ (VHS+) ★
★ NEW Auditory System Protection (Cure Tech+) ★
With normal audio system, listening for more than three hours will feel fatigue, dizzy, tinnitus, irritated and other symptoms.
This is a normal reaction, heavy bass and high volume could cause permanent damage to the human auditory system, but other phenomena can restore through resting.
Viper as a listening experience professional will not ignore this problem. Therefore put a lot of effort to study how to make a "Healing" sound technology, just a small success. But thinking on how to let users experience it.
★ NEW In-App Installation ★
With this in-app installation, users just have to follow the instructions when first run V4A app and the app will install everything for you.
In order to use this feature successfully, full Busybox must be installed.
★ NEW FX Compatible Mode (Only in 4.x) ★
Compatible Mode supports large variety of music players and the players' own EQ/sound effects (system-provided/third party)
Therefore, you don't have to select V4A in Sound Settings > Music Effects, choose anything other than V4A. Just run V4A app and the effects will be working with anything else.
1. In option, switch to Compatible Mode. Reboot, done.
2. In Sound Settings > Music Effects, choose other than V4A.
3. Run V4A app and configure the settings then the effects will work together with the one you chose in Sound Settings.
★ NEW Safe Mode (Only in 4.x) ★
If V4A dont work on many players, try switching to Safe Mode to work with almost any music player.
1. In option, switch to Safe Mode. Reboot, done.
Don't forget to thank the developer for the nice mod/app.
Sorry. I think it had to be posted in apps thread.
If that is the case, will one of the mods be kind and move it?
Sorry again for the inconvenience.

XHiFi gives you great clarity. There are lots of effects and IRC samples that you can choose from using FX. It is really a nice sound improvement. Well I must say Zero's mod is better, but this mod is easy to install and uninstall and also compatible with all players and all ROMs both Sense and AOSP. (We don't have much soundmods for AOSP on HOX. Well there is codexc of course, which is nice).

Use the universal installation in aroma and remember if you install walkman don't install any add-ons.
I personally skip the walkman installation and use the noozy add-on.
Please do a nandroid backup before trying and do not install on top of nocturnal's music mod.
Remember not to use music player equalizer as the installed app changes sound system wide.
Thanks for viewing and give thanks to the acid forum if you find this useful.
lol i read this as Give ACID a shot. I was like i like this guys thinking.
Never the less, great find, gonna try this out.

Make sure if you use Walkman not to install any sound add on as it will conflict.

Sorry dude, they state pretty clearly that you shouldn't install on top of any other mod as it will cause issues. I personally wouldn't do it all though you could always nandroid back.
What is every ones opinion on this? Is this better then beats audio?

I tried the nooze option and I didn't really like it. The bass is still distorted. I need a driver that adds more power like DPS Manager from CM

Did you go into the noozxoide EIZO-rewire app. That's where you adjust all settings and it has more options in it that alot of other equalizers don't. It lets you adjust from megabass to other various engines.

I tried the beats addon and same thing. I would love for it to sound the same as my Nexus. I really miss that phone.
I'll try the walman and see if I notice anything different.
For past six months I have been using this mod on my phone,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873121 (V2)
It's really fantastic, I used to tick the Bass and Equalizer to Rock under DSP Manager and the Bass was just wow, BOOM! I am a bass-head fyi. But I was wondering I have been using it for so long and maybe there are better mods available at the moment. The problem is they come with that .zip package which you can'y uninstall easily, so I don't really wanna flash it unless I am sure.
Anyway, if anyone here is using something better than the above please mention here.
Once again, don't forget about BASS
Thanks in advance.

FX is for audio effects and XHiFI for a clear sound and better quality. Use both with FX Compatible mode. Everything is explained in OP.
This mod is crazy! Can't believe what I am hearing to! Awesome.
But I found that running the FX in Normal mode is better for me, if I use it in Compatible mode there is no effect if I change the settings in FX!
I use PowerAMP, now I don't know what settings should I use, too many of them! Guess I will have to keep playing with them!
Viper FX is incredible. You can get great sound out of N2, just need proper mods/sw. I use that too and sounds great with my Koss
Does your music seem dull and not up to par what you expected? Well Viper4Android is the best sound enhancement out there now,I even think it's even better than paid apps and Cyanogen ones.

hmm still have that slight crackling sound on vol up and the first keypress on the dialer
playing with it some more, you sure you have NO crackling when volume is all the way up and you press it up?
hmm I might have a solution, I think I fixed the sampling rate in the ROM itself, testing now

How do I activate this?
The volume mod will activate as soon as you enable Beats Audio Beats Audio will act as a switch for the volume booster so your speakers will be louder whilst keeping the Beats Audio effect/processing
This will NOT work for AOSP roms because Beats Audio isn't available on there. Only compatible with Sense and GPE ROMs because we need Beats Audio to activate this. And no, Beats Audio can't be ported on AOSP ROMs.

How did you do it?
First of all, I already had an idea of how to increase the speaker volume. The amp (TFA9887) uses it's own configs in the /system/etc/TFA folder but the problem is, we can't edit most of the files with just using a text editor. We couldn't increase volume using the normal method (edit snd_soc_msm files) because HTC removed all of the speaker lines in the files. Secondly, the only text-editable file I could find was the .eq files. I knew Beats Audio could be enabled via the switch in Settings so I thought it would be a good idea to change some values in the .eq files to increase volume. The main function of equalizers is to increase the decibels of specific frequencies right? That's how I found out that those files could be the ones I've been looking for. My first attempt at increasing the volume was to change the values from 1 to 2. Big mistake. Even though it looks like a small increase, my speakers almost blew up. The audio was LOUD, it was so loud that it caused so much distortion. It was definitely too much for my liking. So I changed the values to 1.0000000001, 1.0000000.1, 1.0000001, 1.0001 etc. and let my tester (@Cj719) test the volume. He told me that there was a slight change in volume so I tested it myself and thought that it wasn't enough. I then changed the values to 1.1. That was the ideal number for the speaker boost. When me and Cj719 tried it, it was just perfect. It was such a drastic change in volume but not as much that it would create distortions or blow up speakers.

This is compatible with all soundmods.
If you are on my soundmod, it is your choice to turn on beats audio. I only say to turn it off because it will sound a lot cleaner.
What I would do is turn on Beats Audio when you are using speakers and turn off Beats Audio when you are using headphones. Alternatively, you could just keep Beats Audio on, it doesn't really matter. I'm just saying that audio with no effects at all will be cleaner when you listen to headphones. It doesn't really matter for speakers.

In TWRP, there's 4 options: System, data, cashe and USB (something)... data and cashe are already ticked, do I un-tick them and tick system or leave them ticked and then tick system?
I'm on a GPE 4.4.2 ROM and flashed it and there was no difference, so I tried the mount system (un-ticked data and cashe) method and heard no difference in volume so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Update:The new Guide has been released check it out here [Guide][Ver.2][Project Crystal X Loud]Redmi 1s Best Speaker Configuration With Proof
Note:you must be on a custom rom to make it work, like cyanogenmod, mokee rom, carbon rom,pac rom,PA rom, etc(doesnt work on MIUI based roms)
Getting much less sound on redmi 1s even on the full volume?
yeah thats the problem everyone facing with this device.
So here are my phone speaker configurations to get the the loudest and clearest sound out of it,
Screenshots also attached,
Steps to get clear Sound:
1)Download and install Viper4android FX on redmi 1s(download link for Viper4android FX)
2)after installing open the app,and when it asks to install driver, choose the high quality, dont choose the battery saving because you will not get good sound in it,and neither choose the super quality as it will increase your battery consumption.
3)reboot the device once.
4)open Viper4Android and configure it like this:
i)click on options>UI settings>Expert
ii)in Master Power tick the Enable option
iii)in Firequalizer tick the Enable option and select preset:ROCK
iv)in Convolver tick the Enable option and in Impulse Response select the "Sony Xperia Rev2 EQ 8.Treble boost.irs"(download link for Sony Xperia Rev2 EQ 8.Treble boost.irs convolver) (Mirror link)
v)in Speaker Optimization tick the Enable option.
thats it, now you will get the clearest sound, but wait you will not get the loudest sound now,we have to do some few steps more,
Steps to get Loud Sound:
1)download and install root browser on your redmi 1s from playstore.
2)open root browser, you will see etc folder(if not go to system folder then etc folder).\ open it.
3)find mixer_paths.xml and open it.
4)look for this line in the text'<ctl name="RX4 Digital Volume" value="84" />'
5)change the value from 84 to 94 and save it.
6)Reboot once.
Now you have the best speaker on the redmi 1s
Note:after reboot if you get no volume, play any music, open viper4android in Master control untick Enable option and retick it,worked like charm
If you got some better settings than me dont hesitate to reply
leave a thanks by pressing the :good: button,it doesnt cost you anything

Give link to official thread of viper4android......also have you got the right from the developer about creating mirror to his links??you must ask him before(xda rulez)and i do think he hasnt allowed any 1 to create a mirror to his links...so better ask the developer about it...it would be good for you and him(the respective developer)
initial steps result in good sound I.e. settings in viper
Initial viper settings good, but don't touch mixer settings. It messed.up my phone speaker sound. During call the sound bursts terribly.
