Root question - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to root the device, make what modifications you need to then remove root as there a few apps I have that won't work if I'm rooted yet I'd like to make a few mods but that would require rooting.

No, because every time you start a root app it will ask for root permission. What are the apps that won't work while rooted? I haven't ran into any yet my self.

A Root App ask only first start for root permissions.
A Root App won´t work with all functions without root permission

I suppose it's possible to make modifications to the system with root and maintaining hem after removing root, but that would have to be a one time modification.

It would not be possible for you to access any root app and access them after unroot as it will request permissions from Super Su and more over if you try and access it would either crash or give you an error saying you donjt have root access.

For example I want to modify the standard keyboard so the symbols show on the keys but you need to root to do this yet if I root, Sky Go won't work so I'm wondering if I could root, modify the keyboard then unroot so Sky Go still works but the keyboards mod still works

Instead you could install swiftkey

[Q] How Do You Remove the Bloatware?

I want to remove the crap bloatware that TMO installed on this device. I know I can't delete it using the application manager, but it seems I can move it to an SD card perhaps?
Do I need to be root or super-user to delete the files or will I just have to wait until there are ROMs available?

I usually use titanium backup to remove bloat but that requires roooooot

If you are using the touchwiz interface all you can do for now is create a folder and throw all the apps in there and pretend it doesnt exist.....until root.

Hiding root access?

I have Dixperia 2 rom with doomkernel and would like to do my barclays banking using there app! It requires a unrooted phone to work so my question is, is it possible to hide that I have root so the app works?

In Superuser there's a temp unroot option.

Why does it matter if its rooted or not? Does it detect it? And for an app to block root is a little pointless.

The barclays app will not install on a rooted device and exits as soon as it detects root access. Just tried the temp unroot option in superuser and can confirm to the OP the it works and the barclays app installs fine when using that option

I don't know if it will, but try.
Also, the newest SuperUser allows a temporary unroot, maybe just use that to access it.

You will have to unroot before updating phone. You can easily unroot from superSU

There are possibilities that you may receive the update and it may not unroot the phone , but certain times after update you may loose root access.

Use Mobile Odin with EverRoot option and you will keep root access.
root and unroot

Note 2 after 4.3 won't let me root.

I updated my galaxy note 2 till 4.3 but i want to put a mod on it or a rom to give me the note 3 features on it and I don't have a pc to do it so was gonna do it via my phone my superuser keeps saying if you just upgraded to 4.3 and superuser can't install it this is an error is there away round this? It wont let me root at all. Many thanks.
Just asthe warmingsays. You need to re-root your device using a computer bud

Dude, just installing supersu app from playstore wont give you root access. You have to install su binaries in your 'system' partition. You will definitely require a pc for that..
By the way supersu is just an app to manage root permissions, it wont give u root

Just flash super su with your prefered recovery (like cwm or twrp). Download the zip from here: http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip flash it and you'll gain root.
