Hello to all, i'm making this thread to understand some things about my LG, firts i'm from Venezuela and i have and LG Optimus G E977 with Movistar (LG Optimus G E977=E975 with different modem for Latin America); i have already root the phone and unlock it with FreeGee app, thanks to this guys really for simplify our lives, so i want to install the CyanogenMod rom and i encounter with this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4611&nocache=1 so when i click in the download link i see there is a stable version, so my question is what is the difference i know Nightlies is something like a beta but the last Nightlies post there is more efficient than the stable or what ?, another question is if i install that room i need to find the modem for Movistar here in Venezuela or it don't touch that section ?, the FreeGee app install the TWRP i choose the 2.5 but i don't know how to acces it in this phone i read and search and it is an app for booting in TWRP but there is no manual access ?, and my last question is when i have completely install CM 10.1 i must put this kernel i find to make the full change in my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2312735 ?, forgive me if i asked many question, but i think is better to post all the doubts for disturb less, some information about my phone LG Optimus G E977 Movistar Venezuela, Android version 4.1.2 Stock, Kernel version 3.4.0, with root and bootloader unlock i check it by pressing volume up and power button, thanks in advance for all the answers guys, have a good day
P.D.: i have already change the room of my Asus Transformer Infinity TF700, so i have at least some experience in this
Wait a litle more and learn.no need to rush.you will find here all necessary infos, just search.make sure you know how to revert changes you made, before applying them.better safe than sorry.a litle advice,do not flash e975 software.in europe we mostly have 2600mhz lte band.if your carrier uses another band, you will lose 4g.all custom roms work on e977.i mean e 975 custom roms, not e973/e971.
One last thing,if you flash 4.2.x rom, mounting poits will be changed.this means the whole folder tree will be different and you won't be able to see your old files normally.you will find them in /data/media folder.for that you will need a root explorer and mount as r/w the very root of the device.

Thanks for the advice dude, i don't understand exactly what you mean with no need to rush , if it is something i did wrong i apologize, i want to put the same CM you have, you install the stable version or the Nightlies one ?, and how you get into the TWRP in this phone ?, thanks again kimitza for taking the time to answer me, really appreciate it
See,exactly this small things are the difference between succes and brick your phone.like i said, all infos are here.just look for them.there were so many cases of bricked phones because they rushed and not read all the way....don't be one of those.
It's quite easy to work with the g,but it has a litle trick.you mentioned something about freegee.please read all it's features.one of them is INSTALLING custom recovery.after that, all you need is an app from praystore™ to reboob into recovery, because you can't enter recovery mode on stock rom by using buttons combo.it will get only to service mode or hard reset menu.
I recommend cwm touch though, not twrp.
There,i gave you all the info you need.
Before starting, tell me the exact procedure of rooting, unlocking, flashing custom rom and, most important, how to get back to stock.if you do that,i will help all the way in the future with all i can.this is the only way for me to be sure.your call.
Ps. If i don't make much sense,it's because i slept only 3 hrs in last 2 days.so,sorry.

Take a break kimitza a long one, wow few hours is not a good idea unless job or other situations, and don't worry you make more sense that many other people, trying to avoid me a hardbrick things that must be appreciate, i always read all the information before make a change or flashing something so don't to worry about that, i will tell you what i've done and how to revert it, firts with the root, i use the fastloader and the ZV9-ZVB Universal root with CurrentRoot bat file, to revert it i must go to the app SuperSU and make the clean uninstall and install the stock version from LG to ensure a good revert process, to unlock the phone i use the FreeGee app it tell's me about my stock special unlock and that it would touch some sbl files it's okay because i've never make a change in those files with this LG so i proceed to unlock it and success additional it install me the 2.5.0 TWRP and for revert it, it tell me i can do it with the same app, for flashing a custom room thing i want to do for better performance is download the file i will put the stable version of the CM 10.1, placing into the phone, use the app to boot in recovery mode, make a factory reset with the TWRP and flash it, then it comes one question i don't know i must put this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2312735 for a better performance or not ?, what you recommend me ?, to revert it i must use the LG Software with the LG Drivers, already installed bot, and install the stock version, i will not make any backup because i don't want to backup anything my contacts and other prior stuff is already backup, want to make a clean flash, so kimitza if you have some tip or some suggestion or even a correction please tell me i will proceed when you answer me, if i have any problem with the modem signal i will contact you, i don't think it will touch it but we never know, thanks again for your time my friend and don't forget to please answer my question about the kernel i know it must be installed after installing the CM 10.1 rom, waiting your answer
P.D.: by the way sorry if my english is not perfect or clean, you know not my natal lenguage but i make it good at least hahaha
After you unlock and install custom recovery, install any app from market which reboobs into recovery mode.i personally use rom toolbox pro,but there are apps only for that.the best it seems to bee quickboot.
After this, you can flash any compatible rom or kernel in cwm.now i'm using thinking bridge s4 with kite kernel.i love the new looks.also, flashing latest nightly from official cm is not bad.kite kernel will work with it too.

I was reading nice reviews about that rom for the S4, so you recommend me the last Nightlies more than the stable version ?, wow dude why ?, is it not supposed than the stable version is better ?, hmmm i'm confused now hahaha , yeah in some threads they recommend quickboot to boot into custom recoverys, i will use that kernel when i finish flashing the rom, but tell me why last Nightlies prior to stable one ?, i'm little newbie about the differences, i have not read the chanellog, so teach me if you can, thanks kimitza in advance :good:
Don't be confused by the titles.all builds are good for daily driver,cm team doesn't release anything but quality.it's called nightly because they merge somethings, they add some features etc,but it's the same base as stable.
I'm using tb s4 now and i'm impressed.

Yes, I don't know what else to try. If installing cm10.1 does not modify your current baseband it must be configuration or rom. Tried 2 different aosp based rom (cm10.1 nightly and pacman) with 3 different kernels (p33, cm stock and kite).
Also tried adding hsdpa categories explicitly on build.prop. Tried using service hidden menu to switch between modem bands. Tried backing up the whole modem partition img from the stock rom my phone came with and making a flashable zip, which didn't work either.
So if anyone with movistar (Venezuela) can do "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/1modem.img" from a root shell on the phone or from adb (with adb shell su -c) compress the img and upload it, I would appreciate eternally. The image should be around 64mb uncompressed. I would make a flashable zip and give it back if it works.

Use this tool to backup your rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37764554
Then compress 1modem.img and upload it somewhere like mediafire or any free file sharing. Post the link here and I'll do the rest.
Also make sure you have the stock baseband provided by movistar.

Made it from the kdz at lg-phone-firmware. Flashed stock, rooted, flashed cm10.1 with the modem, deleted the apn, created it manually, didn't work.
Went back to stock and have h+ again. Wierd stuff.

country: Bought it in israel
camera: 13.0 MP
storage: it shows 25GB available so i think you can call it 32
4G freq: im in israel so we don't have 4G but when i typed lg e975k on google one of the resaults was
the australian official LG website so if austalia has 4G so this phone is capable of 4G connectivity
in the "About Phone" it shows that it's made in korea so i think the "K" in the model represents korea but i'm not sure
Comes preinstalled with jelly bean 4.1.2
if you need anything else just ask and i'll be happy to answer
Thanks for the info.
Don't know what "k" stands for,but it's not korea.i mean,E975R is used in australia...
Theoretically, all roms for E975 should work with K.especially if you don't have 4G.just don't try E971/973 roms.they have different specs.

if the e975 roms would not be compatible with my "k" model could it lead to hard bricking my phone ?
because a hard brick is caused when you flash an incompatible rom or recovery or you can just say (bad NAND boot image)
the lg is a sturdy device, pretty solid. Those who bricked it didn't payed attention to exact steps and didn't read all the infos.i used kdz updater on it more than 20 times, not to mention all customs roms i flashed and tested. Didn't "succeed" in bricking it,yet.worst case in your situation(but not gonna happen)...the phone would be stucked on lg logo.l,but you will be able to enter download mode.again, not gonna happen.
The pone is easy to work with,i mean it takes about 30 seconds to root and 2 minutes to unlock the bootloader and flash cwm recovery.just root it and see if freegee is compatible with it.if not, upload the files needed and shelnutt2 will fix it in no time.
Sent from LG E975 pwd by CarbonRom
Even if you are hard hard hard bricked, you can save it with a JTAG. So yeah, if you're at this step, you're maybe analphabet.

im not 100% sure but i think it's the same procedure?
i can guarantee you its the same procedure to flash a rom in LG Optimus G and in Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus (TOTALLY DIFFERENT PHONES)
so if you're not a noob why you dont know to do this?
just take the damn rom, put it in the internal memory, do the 3 wipes and flash
what is so hard?

Ok,now we saw how good you are. So,back to the drawing board:use kdz updater to revert to stock. Let the phone like that until you learn how to do the proper job, maybe start thinking not to flash an alpha rom.

Hi all,
regarding this topic is there anyone who was success with unlock bootloader / root / flash custom recovery / flash custom ROM for E975W?
I would like to read some personal experience with this. I would be very thankful.
I just looked it up and there are a few minor differences, but I'm unsure about whether or not it'll make a difference. I think the biggest issue is that the screen resolution differs, like someone else mentioned earlier. On top of that, the E975W does not support LTE networks, which the intl version does. I think that if you edit a few files in a E975 rom to make it fit the screen resolution for the E975W it'll work out. Because other than these things, everything is indeed the same.

And what about unlock bootloader and root? I just looked around optimus g topics and it's not clear for me.
Because as you described may be possible to use e975 rom for the e975w with some minor changes so i should give a shot for it.
But first I need a proper method for unlock bootloader&root&flash custom recovery. Then backup stock rom (if I screw up something...), then showtime.
Thanks a lot!

Shouldn't unlocking the BL and rooting the phone the exact same way it does with the e975? I don't there are any differences concerning software, so either you could try the method for e975 and you could always try rooting it using Towelroot
e975w can be rooted now. donot flash e975 to e975w or you will have hard brick.

Untill we have a .kdz file in our hands we can't say anything for sure. Most probably (and I hope) the firmware shown in the video is only a beta because too many features are missed :crying: we saw how LG is used to manage the updates with the G2, so first of all rolled out a "beta" version in some asian countries, without some features (ART for example)..Then, some weeks later rolled out the final version of the firmware. Anyway we are very close :fingers-crossed:

Thank's very much for the useful details don't worry if you can't share the rom, personally I am not obsessed with having always the latest beta..I suppose that when it's done, LG will start the roll out, and then, here on xda, works will start Only if it's not a problem and if it's possible for you, would be appreciated if you can keep the community informed on what it's added and what it's removed between the various betas, so we can passionately follow LG's progress..if you want to create a discussion, for example, the community would be happy.
Anyway..I think that ART is foundamental for the future, so it's a great news that it's here! :victory:
knock on is a pity, so even knock code would not be there..but it's not as "foundamental" as ART for example, because I think that some talented developer would integrate at least knock on in the kernel (@ak for example, I was thinking to you LOL). The "major" problem would be the knock off, because I suppose that, if the phone doesn't have the knock on, the launcher wouldn't support the gesture to double tap to sleep.
Now it remains to see the other features that LG usually bakes in the roms, as slide aside, Guest mode (it would be REALLY REALLY REALLY useful, at least for me)..hope in good things to come :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Slide aside, guest mode, plug and pop,... Very easy to mod (or port).
I have a problem, can not use open bootloader (nexus bootloader) to load kitkat kernel.

V28 has Knock On, But has been removed, because some reason conflict hardware/
Sorry for my bad english.
I cannot share this firmware. For tester only.
I hope V30b is still in beta.

Then in next version we'll have less features lol
You look too responsible about the ROM. We should wait for a more generous tester to see a leak at last.
Can you help me. How to load kitkat kernel from open bootloader ? Or help me patch with loki, i need recovery for kitkat rom
Anyone ?
Thanks

Could you be more specific? Because I can't fully understand the problem I mean.. (correct me if I am wrong):
-We start from an optimus g, with lg bootloader (for the noobs that read, it can be unlocked with freegee)
-if you put the nexus 4 bootloader ( I suppose following something similar to this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099784 changing the bootloader partition) I think that the phone will load properly only kernels meant for the nexus 4 (and not even all the kernels for nexus 4, according to the OP of the guide), but I'm not sure because I've never changed the bootloader..Supposing that correctly manages even the optimus g kernels (and it's possible), I suppose that the problem now is the recovery, because nobody created a recovery working with kitkat roms from optimus G. For anybody, that doesn't have almost anything for now to work on..it's almost impossible to create it, IMHO..I think we have only to wait for LG's relases, sorry

Well maybe he could use the classic method for unlocking the bootloader instead of mako?

Is that necessary? Because I don't think anyone will be able to help you in this case. But maybe you could try classic method and see If it works. It might since in classic method it is still Optimus G bootloader.

I think it's necessary because with a new .kdz rom and new android version, usually even the bootloader is replaced by LG with a new version..so the old method at 99% won't work. Of course is worth a try..but I think that loading trough nexus 4 bootloader is the only option to try..even because probably the jelly bean bootloader wouldn't be compatible with kitkat roms..
We only have to wait for a kdz, nothing else..only few weeks and here we go, hoping that someone would be able to unlock (as fast as possible) the kitkat bootloader..
