For the longest time most Android camera apps are incapable of auto adjusting exposure to suit the touch-focus area, a feature that's found in HTC Sense camera and iOS camera. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just realized that this feature has finally been added to Jelly Beam on GNexus!! For this feature alone I'll stick with Jelly Bean instead of AOKP ICS.
Just wanted to share this as I thought some might find it useful.
Cheers.
--
Edit: I'm really surprised by how many people have absolutely no idea what touch-exposure is. The keywords are highlighted in red above. If you still have no idea what it does, borrow an iPhone from your friend, try touch-focus a few different areas with different brightness levels within the same view, you'll know what I'm talking about. Sadly most people don't even know what they are missing out....
This is awesome if true!
You do aokp will start working on jb as soon as the source comes out....

Of course, but until then, this makes it easy for me to choose between AOKP ICS & JB.
another feature I miss in camera is the pause button while recording video, unfortunately this as not been added

I think it's automatic... uh "touch-auto-exposure" is in the name. Wherever you touch on the screen automatically applies the correct exposure.
You can also take pictures while recording video, just tap on screen.

I'm always baffled why Google didn't implement this earlier. iOS and HTC Sense have had it for a while.
And guess what, even Galaxy S3 still does NOT have this feature..
better known as touch to focus :silly:
I'm confused. What exactly are we talking about? Does touch-to-focus do something it didn't do before? And autofocus doesn't do it?
I think Touch to Focus was absent in AOSP until JB. I used it today without realizing it is a new feature, works exactly as it should.
Hello all, i'm newbie here and i search for camera mods for galaxy nexus, is there anyone have a suggestion for me ? Please help me
I'm not quite sure what do you mean by camera mods, mind if you elaborate?
If you're looking for the stock camera apps with more option, CM has it, it even includes HDR (Although doesn't work anywhere near as good as the one on the N4), you'll lose photosphere and picasa though.

It allows you to capture a greater dynamic range between the darkest and the lightest part of the image.
Example
It doesn't work that well on the Gnex anyway, so it's pretty useless for now.

Task's AOKP has the HDR option. Though, honestly, I've never used it so you'd have to try it for yourself to see if it's what you want.

Thank you kind sir... got it up it running last night and likin it so far... I do miss the dual panal/hybrid part of PA though. I found the settings where you can make this one dual panel but the resolution doesn't change with it so it cuts off lots of the words... I just have the whole LCD density changed now and it looks decent...
I needed to use camera yesterday and couldnt because i was at 4%....i was wondering if there was some mod out there that can get rid of this..........

For what I can read, sticking with stock TW, you might have to download another camera app. I personally use Camera ZOOM Fx, which I love but there are plenty out there. I'm sure you can find something you'll like.

As for zoom fx, I love it. also has bunch of addons but it is due for an update after using the updated aosp camera.

I took this apk from chineese forum's and for me this fixed red tint in low light for camera. Also seems faster and have option about video/audio bitrate included and menu transparency. I use in 802w Sense Rom but should work in international One too. Just give it a try. Make a back-up. Copy ( overwrite ) in system/app and set permision. Enjoy!
Edit: After more testing i noticed tint is gone only in lower ISO. On 800 and auto still exist. Anyway this is a good camera app with nice addition.

This is the camera app from latest ViperX ,there are no difference in options nor with purple tint with ViperX's version.
Anyway it's not an apk that will fix the purple tint but an eprom for the camera's chip

just downloaded viper rom and compare size of apk and is not the same, told ya this ive got on some chinesee forum. even if iit was the same i still got that app from chinesse forum )
Interesting, when I use the camera app the screen still shows purple when on it's back. But when I take a shot it takes a long exposure shot and the picture turns out fine.
Good temporary fix, at least.

Only real way to tell is via version number in conjunction with the size. (May have been modified by someone like that other camera.apk floating around)
This one is 5.1.620655, I don't know what version the Viper rom has, but the 4.3 leak (pre-ATT leak) is 5.1.2318223253.652993

Works fine for me, albeit slow. I'm on 4.3 SentinelRom btw.
EDIT: So I tried taking a photo of my feet under my desk. There's still purple hue, and it's a bit dark. It's odd though since there's no noise when I take a photo with the phone on its back. I suspect it just locks iso values. Not a real fix.

It's just this camera. Not an official update.
Same version number/size as the modified camera in that thread. Just because it came from a Chinese website doesn't mean it's from HTC.
EDIT: So this is the camera from the 2.25 base. The 4.3 base is 3.17. This is just a newer 4.2.2 camera.
